binding the abortion

by Allan Parker, President, The Justice Foundation

“For we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this age, against spiritual hosts of wickedness in the heavenly places.” (Eph. 6:12)

As a casual student of the abolition of slavery movement, I have searched history for clues as to how to abolish the equally unrigh-teous practice of abortion in America today. I was perplexed as to

why earlier abolitionists talked so often about a “slave power.” After research and prayer, I believe now they were not just referring to the “slaveocracy,” the ruling class of slave owners, but were also referring to a spiritual, demonic power that was behind the slavery movement and the institution of slavery in the American South prior to the Civil War. They were very familiar with their Bible and much more focused on prayer and Bible study than most Christians are presently, at least in my opinion. Thus, they would have known what a “power” was.

Jesus said that He has given His Church authority to bind and loose:

“Assuredly, I say to you, whatever you bind on earth will be bound in heaven, and whatever you loose on earth will be loosed in heaven.” (Matt. 18:18)

Pages 3-6 are a compilation of biographical infor-mation and photos extracted from the Web sites of organization(s) represented by each key leader. Please use this as a template for compassionate intercession, echoing Jesus’ prayer in Luke 23:34 and recognizing that while these leaders call evil good, they truly believe what they are doing is good (see Isa. 5:20).

In addition, Jesus said unless you bind the strong man you cannot plunder his house:

“No one can enter a strong man’s house and plunder his goods, unless he first binds the strong man. And then he will plunder his house.” (Mark 3:27)

Linking these two scriptures together with the Great Commission (Matthew 28:20), we see Jesus has all authority on earth, both spiritual and natural, but He has delegated some of this authority to His Church. Therefore, I suggest that we need to begin to pray as a movement that the Lord would bind the “abortion power.” You can ask the Lord to bind the abortion power in your particular city; state; over the media; the courts; legislatures; in Washington, D.C.; over the United States; and at the interna-tional level through various bodies like the United Nations. You can ask the Lord to bind the abortion power over the abortionists, abortion employees, and pro-abortion supporters such as NARAL (see pages 3-6). First, bind the strong man.

Here is a sample prayer:

Dear Lord,We ask You, in the name of Jesus, and by His blood and through His authority, that You would bind and re-buke the abortion power. It is written: “Greater is He who is in us than He who is in the world.” It is writ-ten that we do not wrestle against flesh and blood (the abortionists and pro-abortion supporters) but against powers, principalities, and forces of wickedness in the heavenly places. Father, deliver us from this evil and retaliation from the evil one, in Jesus’ name, Amen.

This prayer can also be localized to bind the abortion power in your particular city, state, or nation. Do be cautious about reviling angelic majesties. Jude warns us about this:

“Yet Michael the archangel, in contending with the devil, when he disputed about the body of Moses, dared not bring against him a reviling accusation, but said, ‘The Lord rebuke you!’” (Zech. 3:2 also makes reference to the archangel Michael’s deference to God: “The Lord rebuke you, Satan.”)

Since the 1973 Roe v. Wade decision, the lives of more than 55 million unborn babies in the Unit-ed States alone have been terminated through

abortion. In recent decades, over a billion additional abortions have taken place worldwide, an estimated 50 million each year. “Their innocent blood ... cries out before the throne of God for a voice,” says Cry4Life, a coalition that is issuing a global call to millions around the world to gather in public arenas and court houses, to cry out to God for His deliverance. Abortion-related complications also kill and maim thousands of women yearly. In the United States, the proportion of black babies aborted in the womb is far higher than any other segment of the population. The Rev. Dr. Clenard H. Childress Jr. calls this practice “black genocide,” and says “abortion is the greatest deception that has plagued the black church since Lucifer himself.”

Believers everywhere are urged to join with one voice in this united prayer: “Jesus, I plead yourblood over my sins and the sins of my nation. God, end abortion and send revival to America and the world!”

NARAL is a 501(c)(4) organization in the U.S. with an annual budget of approximately $12 million. NARAL engages in political action and advocacy efforts to oppose restrictions on abortion and expand access to abor-tion. NARAL is often used as a short form for The National Association for the Repeal of Abortion Laws and is made up of pro-choice women and men across the United States. Their stated purpose is to protect and expand reproductive freedom. NARAL’s activities include:

• Lobbying Congress to convince elected representatives to support “the right to choose”• Organizing women and men to make sure that lawmakers hear from the pro-choice people they represent• Connecting what happens in Congress or in the states to how it affects an individual’s ability to make reproductive decisions• Working with state affiliates to advance ideas that are “good for women’s freedom”• Fighting back against the “bad ideas” that allegedly threaten privacy• Using the political process to elect lawmakers with pro-choice values and to defeat candidates who don’t

Fortune Magazine has described NARAL Pro-Choice America as “one of the top 10 advocacy groups in America.” To read more about NARAL’s self-described goals, see: www.prochoiceamerica.org.

NARAL (continued) ILYSE HOGUE (pictured right) assumed the role of President of NARAL Pro-Choice America in February 2013. She is an expert in both electoral and advocacy campaigns who has worked with a variety of nonprofit organizations, including Friends of Democracy, Media Matters for America, and MoveOn.org. During her six years at MoveOn.org, Ilyse served as the Director of Communications and Politi-cal Advocacy, using online engagement strategies to mobilize around issues such as health care and financial reform, and to engage millions of Americans in grassroots lobbying and participation in federal elections. Ilyse is married to John Neffinger and gave birth to twins, Leon and Rosie, on June 17, 2015. SASHA BRUCE (pictured right) works as NARAL’s Senior Vice President for Campaigns and Strategy. She was the National Campaign Manager for the AFL-CIO in 2012. She was Deputy Political Director for Public Campaigns for the Service Employees International Union (SEIU) from 2006-2011, and spent time on the campaign trail as Hillary Clinton’s Western States Political Director during the 2008 election. Sasha has done political work in Egypt, Rwanda, and Azerbai-jan. According to an online blog conversation, Sasha has a young daughter.

2) Planned ParenthoodThe Planned Parenthood Federation of America (PPFA) is the largest abortion provider in the U.S. Beginning in 1916, the Federation now operates roughly 700 centers and offers international services to promote the use of abortion to solve “health” and “social problems” in America and abroad. PPFA’s slo-gan is that “every child should be a wanted child,” which is true; however, many right-to-life pregnancy centers around the U.S. argue that there is a surplus of adoptive families in the U.S. and, therefore, every child could be wanted if every child were given the chance to live. Hundreds of millions of tax dollars are used to fund PPFA’s staff salaries and operational costs, further encouraging PPFA to contin-ue advocating for abortion. Recently, through a series of 11 undercover videos, The Center for Medical Research caught Planned Parenthood, (supposedly a nonprofit organization), at multiple abortion clinics offering aborted baby parts for sale. When PPFA was exposed, the organization defended selling aborted baby parts by claiming they would be used for life-saving medical research.

“Pro-lifers feeddomestic terrorism.” ~Cecile Richards Excerpt from LifeNews.com, “Nine Eye-Opening Quotes” by Micaiah Bilger: “Less than 24 hours after a lone gunman shot a dozen people outside a Colorado Springs Planned Parenthood clinic, the CEO of the abortion company issued a fundraising email essentially blaming pro-life people for the shooting ... [However] Local police officials continue to say they have no motive for the attackand they caution against speculation.” (12/31/15)

Planned Parenthood (continued)CECILE RICHARDS (pictured right) joined Planned Parent-hood in 2006. According to the PPFA website, Cecile expanded its advocacy for access to health care and ensured that Planned Parenthood played a role in shaping health care coverage and services for women under the Affordable Care Act. Under her leadership, the number of PPFA supporters has doubled to seven million. Before joining PPFA, Cecile served as deputy chief of staff for House Democratic Leader Nancy Pelosi. She is married to her husband Kirk, (who is International Executive Vice President of SEIU), and the couple has three children and a fourth child who is deceased (aborted for birth control reasons). JILL LAFER (pictured right) is Chair of the PPFA Board of Directors. She served on the NARAL pro -choice NY boards from 2003 -2010 and was the Chair of the NY NARAL board from 2007 -2010. She was also the Treasurer of the No Bad Apples PAC, a PAC formed by NY State Senator Liz Krueger to help elect Democrat, pro- choice state senators in Albany. Jill began her service on the PPFA board in 2012 and was elected as Chair in 2015. She is married to Barry Lafer and has three children. 3) CENTER FOR REPRODUCTIVE RIGHTSThe Center for Reproductive Rights uses the law to advance “reproductive freedom” as a “fundamental human right that all governments are legally obligated to protect, respect, and fulfill.” The Center believes the founda-tion for their vision lies at the heart of the promise of dignity and equality embodied in both the U.S. Constitu-tion and the Universal Declaration of Human Rights. The Center works toward a “time when that promise is enshrined in law in the United States and throughout the world.” The Center is the only global legal advocacy organization dedicated to reproductive rights, with expertise in both U.S. constitutional and international human rights law. Involved in numerous cases before national courts, United Nations committees, and regional human rights bodies, the Center’s focus includes reproductive healthcare, (including birth control), abortion, prenatal and obstetric care, and providing information and education. The Center seeks to “fundamentally transform the landscape of reproductive health and rights worldwide” and says it has influenced laws and policies in more than 50 countries. NANCY NORTHUP (pictured right) is the President and CEO of the Center for Reproduc-tive Rights and has worked at the Center since 2003. Nancy has led the organization by tri-pling its operating budget over the course of a decade, expanding its offices from one to six, and establishing the Center as an international resource for legal strategy. Under Nancy’s leadership, the Center’s litigation and advocacy work have played a key role in “securing legal victories” in the U.S., Latin America, sub-Saharan Africa, Asia, and Eastern Europe. Nancy was born in Kokomo, Indiana, and grew up in New York, Texas, and California. She is a lifelong Unitarian Universalist, who has taught Sunday school and has served as Presi-dent of the Board of Trustees of All Souls Church. Nancy married James Edward Johnson in 2014. KAREN HANRAHAN (pictured right with Nancy Northup) is the Chief Program Officer for the Center for Reproductive Rights. Karen joined the Center in 2015 and serves as a member of the Center’s executive management team. She oversees the Center’s legal and policy work in the U.S., Latin America, Asia, Africa, Europe and at the U.N., focusing on envisioning, implementing, and coordinating the Center’s portfolio of programs in order to advance the continued transformation of the human rights landscape with respect to “repro-ductive rights, health, and justice.” Karen served in the Obama administration from 2009 until 2015, brought on under the leadership of former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton. She has spent much of her career working on conflict resolution in various countries. Karen is married to Dean Wagner and the couple has a young daughter. Pray for this small sample of pro-Life leadersLILA ROSE is the president of Live Action, a media nonprofit dedicated to ending abortion and building a culture of life. Lila founded Live Action when she was fifteen years old. The group uses investigative journalism to expose the abortion industry’s threats against the vulnerable and defenseless. DR. ALVEDA KING is Director of African American Outreach with Priests for Life, an NAACP member, civil rights activist, Christian minister, pro-life activist, and author. ABBY JOHNSON is an American pro-life activist who previ-ously worked at Planned Parenthood as a clinic director, but re-signed in October 2009. She states that she resigned after watch-ing an abortion on ultrasound. DAVID DALEIDEN founded the Center for Medical Progress in 2013 and masterminded the recent undercover campaign aimed at proving that Planned Parenthood illegally sells aborted baby body parts. FR. FRANK PAVONE is an American Roman Catholic priest and pro-life activist. He is the National Director of Priests for Life and serves as the Chairman and Pastoral Director of Ra-chel’s Vineyard.

ALLAN PARKER has served as the president of The Justice Foundation (formerly the Texas Justice Foundation) since 1993. He served as the lead legal counsel for Norma McCorvey, who was “Jane Roe” of Roe v. Wade, and Sandra Cano, who was “Mary Doe” of Doe v. Bolton, in the legal effort to overturn their landmark Supreme Court rulings that brought legalized abortion on demand in America. CAROL TOBIAS is president of the National Right to Life Committee. Pray for the CourtWe encourage you to unite with Intercessors for America and The Justice Foundation by interced-

ing for the court cases described below. (The following update is provided by The Justice Founda-tion. To learn more, please visit www.thejusticefoundation.org.)

On behalf of over 3,000 Women Injured By Abor-tion and Dawn Milberger, An Abortion Survivor, The Justice Foundation filed a Friend of the Court brief asking the U.S. Supreme Court to in effect “cancel the covenant with death, not let stand the agreement with the grave” that are Roe v. Wade, Doe v. Bolton and Planned Parenthood v. Casey. (Isa.28:18)

In legal terms, we are asking the Supreme Court to uphold the constitutionality of the North Dakota law banning abortion after six weeks, when there is a hu-man heartbeat detectable by sonogram. We are asking the Court instead to allow the states to take care of the children through their Safe Haven laws.

JOIN US IN THANKING GOD FOR HIS HAND OF PROTECTION OVER THE ABORTION CASES AT THE SUPREME COURT

ARKANSAS: The Lord has shown extraordinary favor on the Ar-kansas case by having the Supreme Court specifically ask the abortionists to file a brief. The abortionists had chosen not to file a brief, simply relying on the fact that the Supreme Court rejects about 99 percent of the cert. petitions (please take our case!) it receives. This is an expression of unusual interest by the Court in the case, though it does not guarantee they will actu-ally take the case and hear it on the merits. At least one, possibly more justices, are very interested in the Arkansas ban on abortion after 12 weeks.

NORTH DAKOTA:After seeing the Supreme Court’s interest in the

INTERCESSORS FOR AMERICA | www.IFApray.org | 800-USA-PRAY | Email: [email protected]

Arkansas case, the North Dakota abortionists decided not to file a waiver of response but asked for an exten-sion of time to file a brief. They feel the case is im-portant. The Court granted them an extension of time to December 23. If the case proceeds on the normal timeline, then that case would be set to be considered on January 22, 2016, whether to take the case and give it oral argument.

As it appears now, it could be that the Supreme Court will be meeting to decide whether or not to take the North Dakota, and perhaps the Arkansas case, on the 43rd anniversary of Roe v. Wade. At that time there would be 100,000-200,000 people in Washington, D.C. marching and praying for the end of abortion

PRAYER POINTS:Thank God that He is using His Angels of Justice (Dan. 6:22) to shepherd the Arkansas and North Dakota cases through the system.

TEXAS: The Supreme Court has already decided to hear the Texas case (ambulatory surgical centers and hospital admitting privileges) on the merits. Briefing is pro-ceeding. The Texas Attorney General’s brief is due January 27. Friend of the Court briefs, such as Opera-tion Outcry’s which support the Texas law, are due February 3. The abortionists then have 30 days to file a response. Texas will have 14 days to file a response, then the case will be set for oral argument on March 2, 2016, with a decision by June 30, 2016.

PRAYER POINTS:

Please pray for all the pro-life attorneys who are writ-ing briefs in the Texas case in in support of life. Many national organizations such as The Justice Foundation, Right to Life, U.S. Conference of Catholic Bishops, Americans United for Life, Liberty Counsel, etc. will be doing briefs. Once the Supreme Court took the Tex-as case everyone realized how important the case is and many pro-life groups will want to write a brief. Thank God that there are so many pro-life organizations and that we are able to provide a broad range of input to the Supreme Court that did not exist in 1992, the last time the Supreme Court seriously considered overturn-ing Roe v. Wade and Doe v. Bolton. Thank the Lord for

unity in the prolife movement.

The Center for Reproductive Rights (CRR), a New York-based non-profit group, is representing the clinics in the case of Whole Woman’s Health v. Cole. Texas’s legal strategy is being coordinated in Austin by STATE SOLICITOR GENERAL SCOTT KELLER

(pictured left), who worked as a law clerk to Kennedy in 2009-2010.

FINAL PRAYERS:

Claim the promises of God in Isa. 28:14-22, espe-cially: “Your covenant with death will be cancelled, and your pact with Sheol (the grave) will not stand” (NASB). Ask the Lord to rebuke and bind the abortion power and pray as the Holy Spirit leads.

FOR MEDITATION: Prov. 6:16-19 “These six things the Lord hates,Yes, seven are an abomination to Him:A proud look,A lying tongue,Hands that shed innocent blood,A heart that devises wicked plans,Feet that are swift in running to evil,A false witness who speaks lies,And one who sows discord among brethren.” Isa. 49:1 “Listen, O coastlands, to Me,And take heed, you peoples from afar! The Lord has called Me from the womb; From the matrix of My mother He has made mention of My name.” Isa. 49:5 “And now the Lord says,Who formed Me from the womb to be His Servant,... (For I shall be glorious in the eyes of the Lord,And My God shall be My strength). . . .” Gal.1:15 “But when it pleased God, who separated me from my mother’s womb and called me through His grace . . . .” Matt.6:26 “Look at the birds of the air, for they neither sow nor reap nor gather into barns; yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not of more value than they?”
