  • When a hard-top is fitted on a pick-up truck, one of the largest drawbacks you face is that, in the eyes of the taxman, its weight has to be subtracted from the vehicles payload. And if that pulls it under the all-important 1000kg limit, hell take your children away, sell them into slavery and buy himself a Rolex. Alu-Cab says it specialises in building pick-up canopies from aluminium because of the greater properties aluminium provides, the extra strength, reduced weight and good durability. All fine things, but the companys hard-tops weigh from as little as 50kg, and depending on the truck you drive that could mean the difference between your business being viable and, well, it not.

    New to the UK market thanks to importer Xtreme Sales, the Alu-Cab range is available for all the current One Tonne pick-up trucks on the market today and some for the older models as well.

    The canopies can absorb slight impacts and even flex slightly, which could be worthwhile if youre carrying a load over rough terrain.

    Theyre all built with large side doors which fully open up to allow easy access to the load in the pick-up bed. All are made to suit customer requests and vehicle use you can tailor their

    interior fittings to suit pretty much whatever you want to do be that work or play.

    There are bolts for ammo boxes and tool slides, jerry can holders, gas bottle holders and just about everything else. Whatever accessories or equipment you need to fit the canopy out for can be added or removed at any stage. Cross members, meanwhile, brace the canopy roof to allow direct loading handy if it means you dont have to shell out extra for an roof rack.

    Tents frames can be bolted directly to the roof too, helping to keep a lower profile and therefore reducing wind drag.

    Some bumpers are large. Some are lairy. Some even make a big deal of being discreet. But its been a long time since we saw a pick-up truck looking as funky, cool and downright rude as those wearing Rhino4x4s Evolution bumpers.

    Excellent news then, is that Xtreme Sales has started importing the Rhino4x4 range to the UK. Theyre mainly available for one-tonne pick-ups like the Hi-Lux, Ranger and Amarok at this stage, though more models will be coming on-stream as the year progresses.

    The bumpers are made up of three separate pieces but, once mounted, the front section appears as one piece neatly fitting the shape of the truck. The two side pieces come with gaps provided for fog lights, while the middle part holds a winch mount and tow hooks.

    A front skid plate, attached to the middle section, protects the lower front of the vehicle and is included with every Evolution bumper. The bumpers are made of 3mm thick steel, while the skid plate uses 5mm thick aluminum. An anticorrosion undercoat is applied to the bumper before being powder coated to give it a more durable finish.Because of the bumpers three piece construction, the parts can be replaced separately should one of them be damaged.

    Theres a load of soft-roaders in there, but plenty of proper off-roaders too and depending on your model, plates to protect numerous different bits of its underside.

    If yours is a JK Wrangler Rubicon for example, theres a full six-piece kit available at around1300 which is decent value for that much metal.

    The metal in question is usually aluminium rather than steel so as well as being strong, Rival plates are light in weight and resistant to rusting.

    Theyre stamped for rigidity and pre-drilled for easy installation too, so attaching one to your vehicle ought to be a straightforward job with the spanners.

    Rivals range does tend to be influenced by its home market. But the company says it can have new fitments developed and ready for sale withina week, which is quite some going.

Just check the effective surface area of your vehicle roof, and select the correct size of our UPRACKS roof rack to be fitted.

    UPRACKS roof racks are made of 100% aluminium alloy, which results in reduced weight at the vehicles uppermost point, the roof. It is essential to remember that when you drive off-road (but not only off-road!) the materials, equipment and accessories carried should be well arranged both inside and outside of the vehicle. The high weight materials should be arranged with their load centre as low as possible, while roof load should be reduced to the maximum extent to avoid dangerous swaying movements. For example, an iron or steel roof rack is unfavourable due to its weight per se, which limits load capacity. Because UPRACKS roof racks have a very reduced weight they offer better load capacity.

    The maintenance manual provided by vehicle manufacturers usually provides specific information on the maximum load permitted and it is important to comply with such indications.

    UPRACKS has been able to build roof racks which are as low as 14-34 Kg in weight according to roof rack specific sizes.

    For example: if a vehicle manufacturer specifies a 100kg maximum load capacity, the effective carrying capacity is the net weight derived by deducting the tare weight. Therefore, because an aluminium roof rack weighs only 25kg, you can carry 75kg materials on the roof; on the contraryan iron or steel roof rack weighs at least three times more, i.e. 75kg, and would allow only 25kg load to be carried on the roof!

    UPRACKS roof racks can be fitted to the roof by special leg OK kits which are available for vehicles with and without gutter rails. In other words, we can offer all solutions for a proper fitting.

    Except for those vehicles having fixed attachment points on the roof (in which case we provide a proper customised kit), all of the other vehicles can be equipped with our leg OK kits which are available in three different heights to be perfectly combined to all vehicle roofs.

  • Method is proud to announce the release of their MR501 and MR502 Rally wheels. Both wheels have been developed over the last two years in conjunction with Rally America Champions Subaru Rally Team USA and Vermont SportsCar.

    The 501 Rally is a cast aluminum wheel available in 17x8 and 18x8 et42 with a bronze or titanium finish. The 17 and 18 include a removable brushed aluminum ring around the center bore.

    The 15 501 Rally is known as the VT-Spec and is the true race wheel that was used by David Higgins for the 2013 Rally America Championship winning season. This cast aluminum wheel has a 19% increase in load capacity and 18% decrease in weight compared to the competition.

    The 501 VT-Spec is available in 15x7 et41 with a matte black finish and stainless steel lug hole inserts providing a more durable mounting surface.

    The 502 Rally is the low-offset evolution of the 501 Rally made to comply with changes made to the car by Subaru for the 2014 season.

    With cast aluminum construction, the 502 Rally is available in 17x8 and 18x8 et38 with a Bronze or Titanium finish and a removable brushed aluminum ring around the center bore.

    The 502 Rally VT-Spec is offered in a 15x7 et15 with a matte black finish and stainless steel lug hole inserts. The 502 Rally VT-Spec features a 31% increase in load capacity while shaving 6% off weight over the competition.
