my country

My country is situated in the southeast of Europe. It is the southest part of the Balkan peninsula and it is surrounded by the Mediterranean sea.

The population adds up to eleven million people and the climate is the so called Mediterranean.

The main occupations of people in Greece are tourism and agriculture.

In summer time, it is very hot and the beaches are crowded.

The capital of Greece is Athens…

…and other major cities are Thessaloniki,

…Patras and

Heraklion..

Greece has three thousand islands…

…the biggest of which is Crete, where I live.

My country is known worldwide, because democracy and civilization were born here thousands of year ago.

From all over the world people come to admire the ancient Greek civilization.

Greeks are well known for their hospitality. This is why millions of tourists visit Greece every year in order to enjoy the sunshine and the Mediterranean cuisine
