Soulmates!

“A Letter From Heaven”

When tomorrow starts without me

And I’m not there to see

If the sun should rise and find your eyes

All filled with tears for me.

I wish so much you wouldn’t cry

The way you did today while thinking

Of the many things we didn’t get to say.

I know how much you love me

As much as I loved you,

And each time that you think of me

I know you’ve miss me too.

When tomorrow starts without me

Don’t think we’re far apart

For every time you think of me I’m right here in your hearts.

His Legacy Clifton Kenneth Richardson

August 2, 1938 - April 9, 2020 Affectionately known as “Poppa Rich”

On April 9, 2020, Clifton Kenneth Richardson, aka “Poppa Rich,” was called home to be with our Lord and Jesus Christ. Clifton (hereinafter Poppa Rich) entered this world on was August 2, 1938, in Mobile, Alabama. Born to the late Clifton Kenneth Richardson and Lucille (Rivers) Archie and reared by a devoted stepfather Edward Archie. Poppa Rich was the eldest of seven children and preceded in death by Ollie Archie, Charlie Archie, Edward Archie, Jr., and Juanita Lilly Richardson. Growing up as a resident of Crichton, Alabama, he quickly settled in as a hard-working young man. Around 1950, he enlisted in the U.S. Army as a First Class Private, fought in the Korean War, and obtained an honorable discharge. Returning to Alabama, he married and started a prosperous family. Pop Rich gave his life to Christ at an early age. As a child, he was a member of New Shiloh Missionary Baptist Church, where he served as a deacon, trustee, choir member of The Voices of Thunder, member of the 50 Plus Club, Transportation Ministry, and Hospitality Ministry. His heart of gold drove him to serve in and on several ministries within the church, as a devoted man of God. Some of Poppa Rich’s outstanding accomplishments included being a husband and father of eight, a lifelong employee of the Mobile County Public School System for over 30 years, and a devoted man to God. He served as a meaningful example as a husband, father, grandfather, and friend. He took care of his wife of 56 years, Helen (Primm) Richardson and his eight children and several grandchildren and great-grandchildren. His work ethic was impeccable, taking on a variety of jobs from the school board, local mortuaries, to painting houses to buffering floors for local stores. One life lesson that he strived to instill in all his children was to “Always work and keep an honest dollar in your pocket, and never spend your last.” Pops taught others about Christ, by truly living the Christian way. He was a kind-hearted, funny, and loving man. Pops was a faithful member of the New Shiloh Missionary Baptist Church, under the leadership of his Pastor, Clinton L. Johnson, Sr. Pops was supportive in all endeavors and filled lives with love and laughter; he was a comedian without even trying. He would light of any room. Pops used his knowledge and skills to serve as a watchman for the Crichton Community Watch. Members of the community admired and respected him. To support his family, he went to work faithfully and used his money wisely. He was a lover of food, especially a right home-cooked meal, dessert, and ice cream. Pops was known and loved by so many people in this world for his kind heart, helping hands, and strong spiritual guide. Pops is preceded in death by his mother, Lucille (Rivers) Archie, devoted stepfather; brothers: Ed Archie, Charlie Archie, and sister Juanita Archie. He is survived by his wife, Helen (Primm) Richardson of 56 years; his eight children: Clifton K. Richardson II, Cassaundra L. McGrew (Timothy McGrew Sr.), Gail L. Richardson, Stirling T. Richardson, Whitney S. Richardson (Krystal D. Richardson), Priscilla A. Richardson, Talitha Richardson and Elizabeth D. Parker (Adrian Parker); twenty-seven grandchildren and a number of great grandchildren; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.

“A Fallen Limb”

A limb has fallen from the family tree

I hear a voice that whispers,

‘Grieve not for me’

Remember the best times,

the laughter, the songs

The good I lived while I was strong

Continue my heritage,

I’m counting on you

Keep on smiling,

the sun will shine through.

My mind is at ease,

my soul is at rest

Remembering all…

how I was truly blessed

Continue traditions,

no matter how small

Go on with your lives,

don’t stare at the wall

I miss you all dearly

so keep up your chin

Until that fine day

we’re together again.
