Good News!

• The Show Choirs performed last Saturday in the “Touch of Class” competition hosted by Benton Community. Xhilaration was the 1st runner-up in the “Daytime” round and was the 1st runner-up overall. Xhilaration also won for “Best Vocals” and Patrick Fagan won “Best Male Soloist”. Xuberance was Grand Champion of the prep divi-sion. They received caption awards for Best Vocals and Best Choreography. Jack Daubitz and Cameron Trace were named Best Male and Female soloists in the prep division. Tyler Flores was named Outstanding Performer for Xu-berance. Congratulations to Mr. Last, Mrs. Graven and all members of Xhilaration and Xuberance on another out-standing Show Choir competition!

• The Wrestling team competed last Saturday in a 3A District at CR Jefferson. Braxton Chicchelly won the cham-pionship at 130! David Ryberg placed 2nd at 215 and Josh McDonald placed 2nd at 285. All three wrestlers quali-fied for this week’s State Wrestling Tournament at the Wells Fargo Arena in Des Moines.

The 3A opening round was held on Wednesday. Braxton Chicchelly won his opening round match. Josh McDon-ald lost his first match but came back to win his consolation match. David Ryberg lost twice and was eliminated from the tournament. Braxton lost his quarterfinal match on Thursday but came back to win his consolation match. Josh won his consolation match on Thursday. Braxton & Josh both wrestle on Friday in the 3rd round consolation matches beginning at 2:15 p.m.

• The Drama Department presented the Children’s Theatre production of “Peter Pan” yesterday with two performances. There will be two performances today at 4:30 and 7:00 p.m. On Saturday there will be performances at 1:00 and 3:30 p.m. Congratulations to Mr. Cervantes and all members of the “cast & crew” of Peter Pan and good luck again this weekend! General Admission Tickets are only being sold at the door and cost is $2.

• The Bowling teams are hosting a 1A Regional on Saturday at May City Lanes. Matches begin at 9:00 a.m. Admission is $5. Good luck to Coach Camacho and the bowling teams as they compete to qualify for state!compete to qualify for state!

• The All State Large Group Speech Festival will be held on Saturday at Iowa State University. Good luck to Mr. Davidson and members of Musical Theatre “Next to Normal”; Spencer Hughes, Sydney McCoy & Shaun Meyer! The Saints “take the stage” at 1:40 p.m.

• The Girls Basketball team is a hosting a 4A Regional semi-final on Saturday at XavieRegional semi-final on Saturday at Xavier. Game time is 7:00 p.m. and admission is $5. Good luck to Coach Lilly and all members of the Girls Basketball team as the “road to state” begins!

• Colleen Bouchard has been selected the MVC “Athlete of the Week” in Girls Basketball for the week of February 8th. Congratulations Colleen!
