All Years Dr Broscatan COVID-19 Testing

Up to one in three people who have COVID-19 can spread the virus without knowing. This is

because they have no symptoms.

As you know we provided home test kits at the beginning of term to support twice-weekly home

testing using lateral flow devices (LFDs), until we received further notice from the

government. This week we have been asked to encourage students and staff to continue with

twice weekly testing. We are therefore re-issuing home test kits to all year groups, from Friday 8

October, and during next week, to support home testing.

Friday 8 October - Y7 - 9 during the school day

Tuesday 12 October - Y11 during PSHEE P3

Tuesday 12 October - Y10 during PSHEE P5

Wednesday 13 October Y12 & 13 in PE P5

Please support our community by using the LFD tests, routinely, twice per week, unless you have

had a confirmed positive result (via PCR) in the previous 90 days.

We have also been asked to encourage you to continue to report test results. “Reporting test

results is just as important as taking the test, as this allows us to understand the virus and take

additional action when needed. Please report your results on NHS Test and Trace.”

Gates/Safeguarding

We have had instances where strangers have been let through the front school gate by

students. You must not let anyone through the gate with you. Explain that for security and

safeguarding reasons you cannot let them through the gate, they must ‘buzz’ for Reception to let

them through. Ensure that the gate is firmly closed behind you. The barriers and gates are in

place to keep us all safe and secure.

More information

Shadowing Scheme - Apply to Cambridge

The Shadowing Scheme is a university access scheme designed by current Cambridge undergraduates and run by Cambridge Students' Union (Cambridge SU).During the scheme, participants come to Cambridge, 'shadow' an undergraduate mentor who is studying a subject they're interested in, attend lectures, stay in a student room, eat in a college dining hall, meet lots of current students at a range of events and activities, and get advice on applying to Cambridge from staff and students.Participants, or 'shadows' as we call them, will also get the chance to stay in contact with their mentor after the scheme, and attend online application and study skills sessions, in order to help them make well-informed, successful University applications.
