Why do I need it?


Reporting• There are multiple ways to produce reports in CA PPM• Grid Portlets

• Cheaper to build and maintain• Data Extracts to Excel• Tabular or Cross Tab Reporting but not free format• Limited images or coloring capability

• Business Objects Reporting• Webi

• Adhoc Reports and User Friendly tool• Not integrated in Clarity• Depends on the Universe (which has no custom fields/objects)• Customization to Universe could be expensive

Why Jaspersoft?• Business Objects current version will be on life support soon.• The next version of Clarity will not support Business Objects• CA introduced Jaspersoft in ver 14.2 as a replacement to BO.

What needs work?• Jaspersoft Studio lacks some basic functionality• Dashboards

– No out-of-box dashboards available with 14.2– Weak dashboard reporting tool in Jaspersoft 5.6

• Ad hoc Reporting– Can only report data from Domain which relies on DWH– Cannot report from multiple Domains

• Data Warehouse– The data is not real time– We are still evaluating how long it would take for the Load

DWH job to run. Mixed results so far.

Migrating from BO to Jaspersoft• Crystal Reports, Xcelsius, WEBI Reports and Universes cannot

be migrated to the new version• Steps before creating a new report -

– Review the current set of OOTB reports. Find something similar to what you need.

– Validate if it is possible to create an Adhoc Report• Studio report recreation

– SQL statements can be reused to rebuild the new studio report– Images can be saved in repository– Use templates for consistent formatting
