Universal mammography system for screening and diagnosis

With MAMMOMAT 1000 and MAMMOMAT 3000 Nova we are offering two analog mammography systems that meet the demands of reliable mammo-graphy examinations as well as the European guidelines for screening examinations. The systems are ready for the connection of CR readers* from different manufacturers, providing the first introduction into the digital world.

Our mid-range mammography system MAMMOMAT 1000 is designed for high patient throughput and is mainly used for screening.

With our high-end mammography system MAMMOMAT 3000 Nova you have your clinical applications in one unit. The system supports both screening examinations and diagnostic applications featuring special views, magnifications, specimen radiography and stereo-tactic biopsy, making the system a highly efficient multi-use platform.

Equipped with special mammography X-ray tubes, the MAMMOMAT 1000 and MAMMOMAT 3000 Nova allow optimal imaging of breasts of different thickness and density.

• Opdose – Preprogrammed auto-selection of X-ray parameters for optimized dose to the patient

High patient comfort and patient access

The narrow X-ray tube unit and slim design enable easy and accurate positioning even of patients sitting in a wheelchair.

Our commitment to increase patient comfort is demonstrated by innovations such as:

• Flex2 – the compression plate that automatically adapts to the patient‘s anatomy

• SoftSpeed – reduces the speed of the compression plate as soon as it touches the breast

• Opcomp – optimized compression with auto-matic selection of the required pressure

User convenience for an efficient workflow

Isocentric rotation

Due to the motorized, isocentric rotation of the swivel arm, the patient can be positioned quickly and accurately. The object table remains at the correct height between projections throughout the examination, even if the angle is changed.

The unique dual Bucky design enables quick and easy switching between 18 cm x 24 cm and 24 cm x 30 cm formats. If the object table is changed, the system auto-matically collimates to the film format used. In addition, each object table can be manually replaced by a stereotactic table or magnification table.

Cassettes can be changed easily within seconds using only one hand.

Stereotactic biopsy device # 44 94 709

The stereotactic biopsy device is mounted on the base plate of the MAMMOMAT 3000 Nova.Special two-angle views are taken on the same film and processed in the evaluation unit. The coordinates are defined and sent to the biopsy unit where the needles are inserted. The accuracy is ± 1 mm.The biopsy attachment is used together with a special compression plate and external collimator. The stereotactic attachment can be used with fine needles, core needles and with the Mammotome system from Ethicon. Different needle holders are required depending on the needle size.Only for MAMMOMAT 3000 Nova.

Perforated biopsy compression plate # 44 94 493

A special plate for biopsy and localization. The plate has several perforations and a coordinate system. The patient remains in compression while the phy-sician determines where the lesion is located. The needle is then inserted into the breast. The position of the lesion can only be defined in the x and y direc-tion. The depth must be checked with perpendicular views.

Biopsy device / Shadow cross # 44 94 485

The shadow cross attachment is mounted on the tube unit and used with an external collimator and a fenestrated coordinate plate. The patient remains in compression while the physician determines where the lesion is located. The cross is set over the coordinates and the needle is inserted at the center of the cross. Only X and Y coordinates are defined, but with the use of the cross the accuracy is higher than with the perforated biopsy compression plate.
