Interference
• Safety is NEVER interference
• Teaching skills the students ask to be taught is not interference
• Using Instant Challenge to teach building and performance skills is not interference
• Making sure the students understand the challenge is not interference
• No person (teacher, parent, friend, sales assistant) other than the team members may touch the materials used in the actual performance. That IS interference!

Working with Parents
• Provide a copy of Parent’s Guide from www.idodi.org website
• Ensure parents understand interference
• Their most important job is ensuring that their team member comes to meetings
• Divide costs of materials
• Share responsibility for snacks, food, and transportation
• At tournament, create a list of appraised elements, so they can follow what their kids do

A Word about Volunteers•First preference: Each team would provide one parent to be trained as an Appraiser.
– Appraiser Training: Saturday, February 1, at Grandview High or February 22 at Alameda High
– Parent works another tournament in March
•Second preference: Parent volunteer would be trained as an
Appraiser and work at the Boulder tournament.– Will try to accommodate the schedule
•Third preference: The parent volunteer would help with the Boulder tournament
– 2- or 3-hour shift by helping with registration, sign-in, etc.
