Knowledge Transfer Partnerships (KTP)
KTP is a government-funded scheme to encourage collaboration on projects between businesses and academics.

The Features of a KTP
Project length 6 months – 36 months
Associates recruited by University and Business partner
Employed by University (with local T&C)
Project located at business premises with business supervisor
Academic Supervisor spends ~ half day per week at business premises

The Smart grant scheme supports SMEs carrying out R&D in the strategically important areas of science, engineering and technology. Three types of grant are available:• Proof of market - (max grant up to £25k)• Proof of concept - (max grant up to £100k)• Development of prototype – (max grant up to
£250k)

Businesses can claim up to £5,000 towards the cost of expert advice if they classify as a start-up, micro or SME .
• The funding encourages businesses to seek out fresh knowledge that can help their business to grow and develop.
Criteria to apply:• This must be the first time working with the knowledge base supplier• You need specialist help to meet a business challenge
