WWEELLCCOOMMEE TTOO RROOLLLLIINNSS!!

“Health is created and lived by people within the settings of their everyday life; where they

learn, work, play and love. Health is created by caring for oneself and others, by being able

to make decisions and have control over one’s life circumstances, and by ensuring that the

society one lives in creates conditions that allow the attainment of health by all its

members.”

ROLLINS-TEER DAY OF SERVICE “Public Health is just as much about social justice as it is about health and wellness.”

As part of Fall Orientation, each incoming student participates in a morning of service around metro Atlanta. Students work with local organizations that focus on poverty, homelessness, chronic disease, and environmental conservation. The goal of the Rollins-teer Service Day is to provide public health students with an opportunity to "learn while doing", so they can begin to think about how to tackle issues that adversely affect thousands of people in Atlanta. Ideally, students may stay connected to these and other local organizations throughout their MPH program to complete course projects, the practicum or other practical experiences, or volunteer service. At the conclusion of the day, students will have the opportunity

to share their experiences with other students and RSPH faculty and staff at the Rollins SGA Lunch (Cookout Extravaganza!). Student Organizations and campus representatives will also host information tables so that students learn more about how to connect and engage throughout the year.
