E. OUTREACH ACTIVITIES

Established & Maintained an Internship Program designed to assist Members of the Community to Acquire Skills

needed for Broadcast Employment:

During the Reporting Period, WVNS-TV maintained the formal internship program it established in 2004 to assist members in the

community to acquire skills needed for employment in the broadcast industry and to provide a valuable learning experience. As part

of this program, WVNS-TV contacted local colleges, universities and trade schools to inform them of the program and the criteria for

the internship program, and how to apply for enrollment in the program. Acceptance into the program is without regard to race,

creed, color, sex, age, national origin, religion, mental or physical disability or handicap, marital status, ancestry or veteran's status.

Training to Management Level Personnel as to methods of ensuring equal employment opportunity and preventing

discrimination

R. Charles Dusic III, Chief Financial Officer of the licensee (WVMH, LLC), routinely provides training and updates to Management

Employees on methods of ensuring equal employment opportunities. These sessions are done at various times during the year and

included a review of FCC EEO Rules and Policies and other Equal Employment Opportunity and Anti-Discrimination Methods,

Outreach Methods, and Contacts and Recruitment Ideas. Generally, these sessions are attended by the Chief Engineer, Production

Managers, News Director, General Sales Manager, Promotions Director, and General Manager.

On February 23, 2013, Charlotte Cohen (General Manager, WOWK-TV, LLC) and Shane Moreland, General Manager, attended a

seminar sponsored by the West Virginia Broadcasters Association on the requirement of the Federal Communications Commission’s

Equal Employment Opportunities regulation. The training received was then shared with all members of WVMH, LLC station

management.

Sent Listings of Every Upper Level Job Opening to Job Banks and Media Trade Groups Whose Members Include

Substantial Participation of Women and Minorities

WVNS-TV's standard Recruitment / Referral Sources includes: N.A.A.C.P. - Beckley, WV Division of Rehabilitation Services, WV

Broadcasters Association and National Alliance of State Broadcasters. Every opening, not just Upper-Level Openings, is sent to these

media trade groups or job banks for posting.

Training Programs to Enable Station Personnel to Acquire Skills That Could Qualify for Higher Level Positions:

Members of the technical and engineering departments received on the job training on equipment maintenance and repair that

would qualify individuals for senior level positions.

Other Activities Designed to further the Goal of Disseminating Information about Employment Opportunities:

In November 2012, the Station, along with other WVMH, LLC stations, partnered with The State Journal to promote Students of

Excellence Scholarship program, which awarded 58 scholarships to graduating seniors in West Virginia – 55 seniors, one from each

county in the state, received a $1,000 scholarship and three seniors received full scholarships.

Each May, management representatives from WVMH meet with the current year’s graduates from the WVU Perley Isaac Reed

School of Journalism to discuss employment opportunities at the Station and its affiliates in West Virginia. In 2013, this event was

held on May 14.

On September 26, 2012 and February 7, 2013, WVMH CEO Bray Cary taught a journalism class at Ohio University.

On April 4, 2013, Human Resources Administrator Steven Hicks attended a career expo at Marshall University. Mr. Hicks met with

students and alumni individually to discuss internship and career opportunities at the Station specifically and careers in broadcasting

in general.

On April 10, 2013, Human Resources Administrator Steven Hicks attended a community outreach conference for Veteran’s Affairs to

discuss training and employment programs.

WVNS-TV makes available to community groups and schools tours of the station. These tours include an opportunity for the groups

to view the operation and facilities in action, discuss the employees’ duties and activities, and discuss employment opportunities at

the station and in the broadcast industry generally. During this Reporting Period one group tour was given along with numerous

individual and non-group tours.

WVNS-TV, on an ongoing basis, runs a 30 second spot on its air and posts a statement on its web site that notifies all community

groups and organizations of the availability of vacancy information and disseminates information about employment opportunities.

During this Reporting Period the 30 second spot ran 340 times.
