    Developers/Owners will be considered for the award only if thefollowing criteria are met:

    No fatal accident in all projects in 2010 or 2011,and

    At least 3 projects win the WSHPA or SHARP in 2011 or,

    Developers with less than 3 projects

    - All projects win the WSHPA or SHARP award 2 yearsconsecutively

    OR, the workplace began its operation within 2010 and achieved

    To be eligible for the Awards, the company must achieve a Band IIIscore in at least 70% of all elements in the checklist provided in theapplication. Should a company intend to indicate not-applicable incertain elements within the checklist, evidence must be provided torove that the item is indeed not a licable for the com an .

    If the workplace attains a score of 70% or more from your self-scoring of the checklist, you can consider contacting one of theorganizations which provide auditing services to evaluate your

    application.

    Please note that achieving a Band III score in at least 70% of allelements in the checklist is the minimum criteria, in the process ofevaluation, the organiser will review all the scores from Band I to

    Therefore, all the items in the OSHMS checklist (Band I to Band IV)must be audited .

    Companies and auditors should also be aware that forworksites/projects under the same company, even though theyshare the same Safety and Health Management Systems (SHMS),implementation is likely to differ and hence, scores should be distinct

    for each worksite/project.

    Construction companies or worksites need not engage anorganization providing auditing services if they pass Band III in allthe elements for ConSASS from 1 July 2010 till 31 March 2011. Their ConSASS scores must be awarded by an organization providing

    Workplace Safety And Health auditing services acceptable to MOM (notnecessarily those listed in Part 6 only).

    Safety and Health Award Recognition

    for Projects (SHARP)

    INTRODUCTION

    Recognizes projects or worksites that have good safety and health

    performance and workplace safety and health management

    systems.

    Includes large-scale projects that mobilise significant manpower and

    have shown their ability to manage WSH on a project-level.

    Examples - shipyards projects, construction worksites and large

    workplaces within an organization.

    Difference between WSHPA

    and SHARP

    Application for WSHPA covers the whole organization

    All the projects, worksites, etc whilst application for SHARP covers a single

    project, worksite, etc, managed by the organization.

    An organization can apply for WSHPA covering all its projects or.

    The project, worksite or workplace submitted for this award must notbe a combination of various projects, worksites or workplaces of anorganization.

    Special note on auditing organisation

    Excellent WSH Practices with productivity gains will attain bonus points.

    Degree of involvement and participation of employees andcontractors.

    Creativity and innovativeness of the control solutions.

    Eliminate or effectively control the hazard and / or significantlyreduce the risk.

    Should not infringe any copyright and / or patent law.

    Presented papers in WSH seminars. Helped other organizations to develop or improve on WSH.

    Wrote WSH research papers, articles, books, etc.

    Active member in national WSH campaign committees.

    Served at least 2 terms as a member of working committees such as ASMI,

    SCAL, SISO.

    Served in technical committees or work groups in developing WSH codes orstandards in organizations like SPRING and WSH Council.

    Supervisors eligible for the Awards must be in charge of at least 5workers.

    Attended at least one WSH course at the supervisor level.

    Active in WSH programmes / committees / Innovation Teams.

    Preferably, winner of the organizations WSH recognitionprogramme for supervisors.

    Any other evidence of the applicants ability and commitment to thesafety and health of supervised workers.

    Disqualification before announcement of results

    The application may be disqualified if the following occurred in the

    workplace within 2010 before the announcement of results:

    - any accident (including occupational disease) that had caused death or

    - any investigation, conviction or prosecution (including pending) of theworkplace with regards to matters concerning the workplace under theWorkplace Safety and Health Act or Work Injury Compensation Act orany other governmental regulations.

    - any inaccurate information submitted.

    Therefore, for all applications which involved audits, applicants are toensure that the auditors has perform his/her audits in due diligence.

    The accuracy of the reporting systems for accidents of each company

    will be evaluated as well.

    Acknowledgement form An acknowledgement form will be included in the application form. WSHC office will endorse the form and send it back (via fax/email)

    to all applicants to confirm submission of documents.

    Unsuccessful applications All will be notified of Awards application outcome.

    Winners to be notified through email with follow-up actions to betaken.

    Applications that fail to win an Award will also be notified. Specifically for the Performance Award - A commendation letter will

    be sent to all applicants who have initially met the minimumqualifying criteria, but may not have won an award after checkingthrough audit scores.

    Appeals Organiser will not accept appeals. Applicants have to ensure that all

    submitted documents are correct at the point of submission.
