Artistic Expressions Christina Barzelay 2nd & 4th Tuesday TG at 10:00am

Are you crafty? Creative? Are you new to all things Art? It doesn’t matter if you are an expert or a beginner as this class will introduce you to various types of artistic expression. In this class you will have the opportunity to try a wide array of art forms including oil painting, clay, stenciling, Adult Coloring Books, Dot-To-Dot, iN2L Paint Program, and additional techniques as the class evolves. Come get artsy with us!

Astrology 101 Jennifer Naster October 5th, November 2nd, CL & December 7th at 2:00pm

September at 2:00pm TG Astrology is the study of how the movements of planets and the positions of stars influence events and behaviors in our daily life. As planets are forever moving there is always something new to learn. For the first class, residents are encouraged to bring birth date, time, and location as character traits can be revealed from this information. Some history and basic signs of the zodiac will also be reviewed. In November, a closer look at the planets and their meaning will be discussed. For example, the sun and moon are very important especially in reference to our birth chart. December’s class will identify the houses associated with each zodiac symbol and the character traits associated with each sign. The importance of points in our chart such as ascendant or rising sun will also be explained. If you are a strong believer or a non-believer this class will provide something for everyone.

Ballroom Dancing Basics Christina Barzelay 4th Tuesday CL at 2:00pm Christina Barzelay Last Wednesday TG

& Merissa Sass at 2:00pm Dust off those dance shoes and get back on the floor! Christina is taking you on a trip down memory lane as we celebrate those Saturday nights spent out on the town dancing the night away! Participants will learn to identify song tempo as well as a little bit of history of various dances. Styling techniques and basic steps for the group’s favorite dances will also be taught.

Beer Tasting with Aileen Aileen Carlson October 16th & December 21st G at 2:00pm

Craft Beer breweries are popping up everywhere and there are several beers that have been around for generations. Learn about the different types of beer and the beer making process. Each class will have a unique theme. In October, Aileen will be discussing Fall Beers and tasting different Oktoberfest varieties. In December, the theme will be “Hoppy Holidays” as we will enjoy special holiday flavored beers.

Bible Study Monica Moses 2nd & 4th Wednesday A at 3:00pm Monica will be leading a non-denominational Bible Study Class where everyone is encouraged to ask questions as they study specific passages and scripture. Monica is here to provide insight as well as to assist you in your spiritual walk.

Christina’s Kitchen Christina Barzelay 1st & 3rd Tuesday TG

at 2:00pm Christina is opening up her kitchen in The Gardens and hoping you will help her make something delicious! Each month we will mix, create, cook, and bake a variety of food from No Bake Recipes to decorating homemade cakes. Christina is always looking for new recipes so bring your favorite and let’s get cooking!

Core Strengthening Bob Nye Every Thursday C at 10:00am Bob Nye is a Physical Therapist with Restorative Therapy. Bob will be hosting a weekly class where he will provide instruction in engaging core muscles which are needed for balance and coordination. These muscles create stability and lessen your fall risk. He will educate participants on the benefits of having a strong core. Bob will also provide the most beneficial exercises for residents specific to their level of physical ability.

Cooking Corner with Chef Josh Josh Marlowe Last Thursday of each month G

at 2:00pm Chef Josh will be hosting a monthly cooking demonstration based on a specific theme. In September, in honor of Assisted Living Week and Active Aging Week, the theme will be “Healthy Eating”. October is Italian Heritage Month and as we discover all that Italy has to offer us, Josh will tease our taste buds with “Italian Cuisine”. In November, Josh is hosting “Cranberry Cooking” to engage our senses with this fall flavor. To

Engaging Apps Class Merissa Sass 2nd & 4th Friday C at 3:30

What are apps? What do they do? How do I find them? How do I use them? If you are interested in learning what all the hype is about “Apps” then this is the class for you! Applications are being developed every day for a variety of different uses. Some “Apps” will help you stay active by counting your steps, some will remind you of appointments, and some will let you stream your favorite song from the 60’s! “Apps” can assist anyone who is willing to learn where to find them and how to use them. This class will help you do both!

Health Seminar Bob Nye 2nd Wednesday CL

at 10:00am Bob Nye from Restorative Therapy will be hosting a monthly health seminar where he will discussing various topics. In the month of September, Bob will be speaking about Blood Pressure and holding a Blood Pressure Clinic. In October, in celebration of Physical Therapy Month, Bob will be explaining the benefits of Physical Therapy and the importance of strengthening exercises as well as balance exercises. November is Diabetes Month and Bob will be discussing the types of Diabetes as well as providing tips on eating habits to assist in controlling blood sugar levels. In December, many seniors tend to be afflicted with “Winter Blues” and Bob is determined to help provide tips in overcoming this common occurrence.

Hearing & Balance Seminar Robert Smith September 8th CL

at 1:00pm Everyone has heard the children’s song “The leg bone is connected to the hip bone” and so on but did you know that the inner ear is connected to balance? If you have had a recent fall you might want to consider going to see an audiologist and getting your hearing checked. Robert will be discussing the association with hearing, dizziness, and falls. Diagnostic tests and treatment options will also be reviewed.

Learn to Wii Christina Barzelay Every Thursday TG

at 9:00am Bowling? Golfing? If you want to enjoy your favorite hobbies again but don’t think you can manage in the alley or on the green then try the Wii! The Wii Console has a variety of interactive games that allow you to become part of the sport itself. A remote in your hand relays your body position to the television and if you twist your wrist too much you are sure to hit a gutter ball! These sports games along with television game shows await you!

Life-Stories Sharing Walter Schlomann 4th Monday C at 6:00pm

This class is an entertaining and dynamic program that combines past memories with current topics. It is a wonderful program that provides an opportunity for residents to reminisce, learn, and discuss in a relaxed and fun atmosphere. The class will include watching short videos relevant to the time and topic, lively discussions revolving around the topic, and of course story telling! This is your time to relive powerful moments in your life and share those amazing stories with others. Massage Therapy 101 Dee Sippel September 15th C at 10:00am Massage Therapy has many benefits such as decreasing anxiety, joint pain and muscle tension, headaches, and stress. Aside from these great benefits many massage patrons find a great sense of relaxation and increased energy depending on the type of massage therapy utilized. This class will also discuss the four main types of massage therapy: Swedish, Deep Tissue, Sports, and Trigger Point. Participants will have the opportunity to sign up for free hand and arm massages to be given on September 29th.

Nutrition & Chiropractic Care Dr. Todd Bodanza October 6th CL at 1:30pm Nutrition is defined by the intake of nutrients used to support the body in growth and general health. The most important aspect of nutrition that practitioners can agree on is that it is one of the most crucial elements to our health and even a slight change can cause dramatic effects to the body, brain, and our behavior. In connection with chiropractic care, nutrition becomes even more important as most patients seeking chiropractic care are suffering from some type of injury. For example, if a patient had suffered a muscle injury, a diet with added protein would be extremely important as protein allows the body to both build and repair muscles. Power of Green Smoothies Merav Halevi September 14th G at 2:00pm Everyone is talking about “Green” this and “Green” that! But why “Green”? Merav is here to explain how and why you should pay attention to “Green” and discuss the wonderful health benefits associated with this specific color! “Green” Smoothies help your body get rid of toxins, decrease inflammation, increase your energy, and improve your digestion. Want to learn more? Want to “Go Green”? See you in September!

Painting with Miriam Miriam Tennant Last Wednesday of the month A at 2:00pm Have you been painting for years or are you a painting novice? Miriam encourages everyone to spend time and be creative. Miriam believes painting is a great form of expression and she wants to help others achieve the same great feeling of accomplishment in creating a one-of-a-kind masterpiece. Painting can be very relaxing and enjoyable and Miriam invites beginners and professionals alike to join her for a fun afternoon of painting and fellowship!

Skin Care Seminar MAJ. Justin Letourneau, Ret. September 27th CL

at 10:00am As residents of the Sunshine State we certainly enjoy being outdoors but are we protecting ourselves from the dangers associated with our fun in the sun? Many people often forget to apply sunblock until it is too late and rarely wear hats and sunglasses to protect their face. Justin will be explaining healthy skin care routines as well as discussing preventive options. He will also be reviewing treatment options for sun damage and cancer diagnoses that can often be performed in the comfort of your own apartment.

Science Club Christina Barzelay 2nd & 4th Wednesday TG at 10:00am Science is such a broad topic that people often forget how much science impacts our daily life. We use science to determine if we should bring an umbrella to work and also to properly cook a delicious dinner. We use science to create beautiful pieces of art and we use science to keep our bodies healthy. Science is everywhere and this class will provide the opportunity to experiment on our ever-changing world. Participants will discover different aspects of the scientific community and grow their understanding about the importance science plays in today’s society.

Tai Chi/Controlled Movement Bob Nye Every Tuesday C at 10:00am

Bob Nye is a Physical Therapist with Restorative Therapy. Bob will be hosting a weekly class where he will provide instruction in controlled body movements which improve balance and coordination and can lead to a reduction of falls. He will explain the benefits of Tai Chi stretches and provide the most beneficial exercises and poses for participants whether in a chair or standing. The controlled movements associated with Tai Chi lead to healthy muscles, reduction in stress, and increased energy. The low-impact movements make this a highly suggested program regardless of age or physical ability.

Technology Class Christina Barzelay 1st & 3rd Monday CL at 2:00pm

Do you have an iPad? Do you have an iPhone? Do you want to learn how to Skype with family and friends? Do you want to learn how to “friend” someone on Facebook? All these questions plus many more will be answered and addressed during this class. Technology is ever-changing but the goal of this class is to bridge the gap that exists between the benefits provided by it and the heartache caused when it is not fully understood. Questions are strongly encouraged and one-on-one additional classes can be offered to those who request it. This is your opportunity to connect to the technological age we live in! Specific topics will be announced on the monthly calendar based on participant request.

Christina Barzelay

Christina is the Community Life Director at The Watermark at Trinity. She is a graduate from the University of South Florida with a Master’s in Medical Sciences. Christina is also certified by the state of Florida as an Alzheimer’s and Dementia trainer. She is very adventurous and loves to be active. Christina is a competitive Ballroom Dancer. She enjoys all things chocolate, going on cruises, and spending time with her Yellow Labrador Retriever, Cooper. Christina loves to laugh and has been known to start dancing in the hallways just to put a smile on a resident’s face! She refers to herself as the “Fun One” because if she is having fun everyone around her is sure to be having fun too!

Dr. Todd Bodanza

Dr. Todd Bodanza is one of the founders of Conforti Crossroads Chiropractic and The Disc Institute of Trinity. He received his Bachelor’s Degree in Exercise Physiology at the University of South Carolina and his Doctor of Chiropractic degree from Life College in Marietta, Georgia. Dr. Bodanza has been practicing over 14 years in the state of Florida. He thrives on patient education and total wellness. His goal is to eliminate patients’ pain and restore them to optimal health.

Aileen Carlson

Aileen is the Executive Director at The Watermark at Trinity. She has been with the Watermark family for over 15 years. Aileen is joining the Trinity team from our sister property, The Fountains of Boca Ciega Bay, where she started in Community Life and worked her way up to Executive Director. Aileen is married and has 2 children, Tessa and Brendan. She graduated from the University of Florida. Aileen enjoys reading, watching sports (especially Gator Football), exercising, and she is the team manager for Tessa’s competitive soccer team.

Merav Halevi

Merav is the Human Resource Director and Business Office Manager at The Watermark at Trinity. She is a Certified Human Resource Manager with over 15 years of HR and business management experience. Merav has two beautiful children Avi, 25 and Danielle, 23. Merav loves to spend time with her family, friends and favorite canine, Rusty. Merav also loves to travel, cook, bake, practice hot yoga and Zumba.

Major Justin Letourneau, Ret.

Justin served 23 years on active duty as an Aeromedical Physician Assistant for the U.S. Army and retired June 12, 2015. He earned his Masters in Physician Assistant Studies in May 2011 at Fort Sam Houston in San Antonio, Texas through the University of Nebraska Medical Center. He completed his residency at Eglin Air Force Base in Fort Walton Beach, Florida. Most recently, Justin served as the Battalion Physician Assistant for the 412th Aviation Support Batallion of the 12th Combat Aviation Brigade stationed in Katterbach, Germany. Justin joined Dr. Jack Jawitz and OnSite Skin Solution after moving back to Florida with his wife Sandra and two children, Aiden and Olivia.

Melissa Longano

Melissa in the Director of Nursing at The Watermark at Trinity. She has been a nurse for 18 years and a Director of Nursing for the past 10 years. Melissa has two children, Katie who is 18 and Erik who is 20. She has been engaged for the past 7 years to her best friend. Melissa loves gardening, traveling, and boating when she is not with her residents. Melissa has a giant heart and truly cares about providing the best care possible.

Josh Marlowe

Josh is the Executive Chef and Dining Service Director at The Watermark at Trinity. His culinary career started in his mother’s kitchen at the age of 15. After graduating culinary school and working at various restaurants, Josh found his way to our sister property, The Fountains of Boca Ciega Bay. Josh began as a Soux Chef and as he worked his way up to Executive Chef he found his calling for helping others. He left for 2 years to start his own restaurant in Fort Lauderdale but realized he missed the family environment of senior living and came back to join the Trinity team. Josh is married and has three children. He believes in creating food that ignites the senses. His cooking philosophy is about getting back to the basics and creating dishes with simple ingredients and seasonings. Josh is excited to cater to all of the residents and hopefully learn a few new things along the way!

Monica Moses

Monica is a volunteer from Idlewild Baptist Church in Lutz, Florida. She is also the Director of Client Care Services for Helping Mom and Dad. She prides herself on being a resource to those she serves and truly has a passion for seniors. Monica is extremely involved in the community and very willing to help anyway she can.

Jennifer Naster

Jennifer is the Sales Director at The Watermark at Trinity. She is a graduate from the University of South Florida with a Bachelors in Social Work. She began working at our sister property, The Fountains of Boca Ciega Bay, in St. Petersburg. Jennifer grew up in the area and is lucky to have family close by. She recently became an aunt for the first time and she is loving every minute! Jennifer is an avid animal lover but her best friend is her dog Samson. She loves being outside taking walks with Samson, working on her orchids, and boating. Jennifer truly enjoys her job as it allows her to meet seniors and gives her the opportunity to assist them on their journey through Senior Living. She is a wonderful resource who prides herself on helping seniors find the best fit for them.

Bob Nye

Bob is the in-house Physical Therapist with Restorative Therapy. His goal is to ensure residents are in a pleasant and professional environment where they can gain strength and tips in living a healthier and more active life. Bob credits being a part of the 1984 Olympic Games as one of the best experiences of his life. He has been married to his wife Cheryl for 35 years who is also a physical therapist. They have 5 children and 5 grandchildren!

Merissa Sass

Merissa is the Community Life Assistant at The Watermark at Trinity. She is very fun-loving and active. It has been said that Merissa’s laugh is contagious! She prides herself on making each and every day special for not only her residents but also her peers. She loves decorating and planning special events. Merissa loves cats and has recently become hooked on cruising.

Walter Schlomann

Walter is an award winning filmmaker. His programs have aired on PBS, TV Land, History Channel, MTV, Biography Channel, and Comedy Central. He has worked with stars such as Michael Stipe and Cyndi Lauper. Walter has filmed helicopter scenes in the Australian Outback, directed “Scotty” of Star Trek on a wild aerial ride through New York, and has even worked with crocodiles, kangaroos, and mermaids! He is the president and creative director of Heritage Media Group, the founder of Life-Stories Sharing, and president of Carrollwood Toastmasters Club.

Dee Sippel

Dee Sippel is part of the Rejuvenate Salon & Spa team. She has been a licensed cosmetologist for over 49 years. Dee even taught cosmetology for a few. She is also a CNA that specializes with dementia residents. Dee enjoys spending time with her toy poodle, Charlie and her family. She has 2 children, 6 grandchildren, and 1 great-grandchild. Dee has a big heart and loves making her residents look their very best!

Robert Smith

Robert is Board Certified in Hearing Instrument Sciences and is a specialist with St. John’s Hearing Institute. He has been serving the Hearing Impaired in the Tampa Bay area for over 26 years. Robert is a member of the International Hearing Society, the Florida Society for Hearing Health Professionals, and also the Fall Prevention Committee of Better Living for Seniors. Robert enjoys serving his patients and truly appreciates the relationships he has built with them over the years.

Miriam Tennant

Miriam is the Director of Plant Operations at The Watermark at Trinity. She is very family oriented and loves spending time with her wonderful husband, two children, and three grandchildren. Miriam enjoys traveling and experiencing new places. She is very passionate and thoroughly enjoys celebrating the holidays! Miriam has always been a very expressive person and painting allows her to put her words on paper through the use of paint. She loves spending time with residents and painting gives her an opportunity to help residents express themselves but also gives her the opportunity to build a stronger relationship with the residents around her.
