WOW Bali’s International Sustainability and Wellness Initiative As an international destination, the renowned island of Bali never fails to captivate visitors

with wonderful natural attractions and unique culture. Bali has been an epitome of ‘paradise’ to many tourists. But beyond the exoticized image of Bali lies a deeply entrenched tradition that keeps the Balinese cultural and social fabric intact. It runs in all practices of the Balinese that it hardly escapes the curious

and sensitive gaze of any tourist. This is the Tri Hita Karana, the three sources of natural aesthetics according to the Balinese; a “human centered design” of harmonious relationships with people to people,

people with nature, and people with the divine.

Inspired by the Tri Hita Karana, our local community partners in Bali are collaborating with WOW Bali International Initiative to share its vision of a Global Banjar, where visitors from all over the world can come to Bali to experience a sustainable lifestyle and learning about one of

the world’s living ancient cultures in the pristine ecological villages of Bali. We designed ‘WOW Paradise’ authentic experience to share ecological and cultural practices by the Balinese to

inspire you to continue living a sustainable lifestyle long after your visit here in ‘paradise’. In learning about the traditional processes of the Tri Hita Karana, which ties with the whole

Balinese way of living, you will be actively participating in the preservation of ‘Old Bali’ and the enduring sense of ‘paradise’ that it evokes.

Celebration Programs are WOW’s ‘creative autonomy’ learning framework that is based on 15 years of pedagogy development and wellness research; with numerous case studies, awards and recogni-tions. It’s ALL How We Learn... Lets Start with Celebrations!

Programs has been developed through some of the top educational and youths programs; such as Seabury Hall, Myron B. Thompson Online Academy, Kula Elementary an Pomakai School in Hawaii, Boys and Girls Club of America and Big Brothers Big Sisters America. Creative programs has been case studied by the National Alliance of Media Arts and Culture (NAMAC.org) and applied for UNESCO’s Global Digital Ambassadors in 2006; twenty of the TOP digital New Media students, selected over 29 different countries.

This is where technology and social media play an important role in communications exchange and the promotions of our sustainable dynamics. In early 2014, Wow Bali International Initiative was selected as the TOP Sustainability and Wellness framework here in South East Asia, with its Systemic Holistic Interdisciplinary Participatory model for a “sustainable dynamic” collaborations between organizations within our naturally regenerative community.

Based on Balinese cultural dynamics of Tri Hita Karana, a human centered design based on a systemic holistic interdisciplinary participatory model is a natural engagement for communities to participate in sustainable development most effectively. This allows us to visualize the environ-ment conditions and opposing forces that must be considered within dynamic collaborations and effectively among collaborators. The integrated elementals are recognized within each stakeholder’s forces and properties; this helps us leverage the sharing of our resources and expertise via our natural evolutionary design system. These conditions ensure the promise of success within a truly sustainable and regenerative community. The fusion of development via mutualism and the sharing of resources through creative economics are essential to the success dynamics of ‘quick start’ and/or ‘long term’ development. Active learning via creative directed actions; a creative autonomy in sharing is our greatest exchange for sustainability.

Wow Bali’s Founder shared “Sustainable Dynamics” at APEC 2013 with UNTWO on “the importance of holistic participatory in sustainable development.” Our best practices have also been presented at APEC, Asian Productivity Organization, ICRAFF, FEALAC International Conferences in 2013-2014. ‘Sustainable Dynamic’ has been case studied by IDEO.org by MBAs from Presidio Graduate School, the ASEAN Centre for Biodiversity, and the Development Academy of the Philippines.
