Many have stated that it is impossible to know whether or not we are living in the last days

before the second coming of Jesus Christ. However, below you will find dramatic proof that

these are the endtimes. The proofs below defy coincidence.

Euphrates River to Be Dried Up In Revelation 16:12, the Bible predicts that the Euphrates Riverwill be dried up to prepare the way for the kings of the east to invade Israel. This will happen at the time of the battle of Armageddonaccording to verse 16 of the same chapter. The battle of Armageddon will be the final battle at which time Jesus will return and fighton the side of the nation of Israel. Immediately thereafter He will establish His kingdom and usher in His one thousand-year reign ofpeace. On January 13, 1990, the Indianapolis Star carried the headline “Turkey Will Cut Off Flow of Euphrates for One Month.” Thearticle stated that a huge reservoir had been built by Turkey. While filling up the reservoir, the flow of the Euphrates would be stoppedfor one month and a concrete plug for a diversion channel built. These things have now been done. With this newly built dam, Turkeyhas the ability to stop the Euphrates River at will. The conditions for fulfilling this 1,900 year-old prophecy are now in place.

In Revelation 9:15-16, the Bible prophesies that an army of 200 million soldiers will launch a war which would kill “the third part of men.” Never in thehistory of the world until our present generation has there been a power on earth that could field 200 million soldiers. However, thelate ruler of China, Mao Tse Tung boasted in his diary that he could field an army of 200 million. The CIA World Factbook reportsthat in the year 2001, it is estimated that China has 200,886,946 men of military age, and this number is growing by 10 million peryear.

In Revelation 13, the Bible prophesies that aworld dictator will soon rule over a world government. He will cause all people in the earth to receive a number without which theywill be unable to buy or sell. We are seeing this prophecy fulfilled before our eyes in a most astonishing way. Nearly every humanbeing in the world now has been assigned a number. In America it is our Social Security number. In the past few years, we have seenthis number extended to newborns. A child without a Social Security number cannot be declared as a dependent on an income taxreturn. We have seen the emergence of electronic money, shopping with credit cards, and many people urging the abolishment of cash.All of these things could not possibly have been fulfilled until this present time. Only after the invention of the computer could such aworldwide numbering system be administered.

Revelation 13:7 andDaniel 7:23 prophesy the establishment of a world government. The term “New World Order” has become a prevalent phrase in theworld’s political culture. Mikhail Gorbachev made the term famous, and Pope John Paul II has referred to it repeatedly. In theSeptember 12, 1990 issue of the Chicago Tribune, our former president George Bush said, “Iraq is the first test for the New WorldOrder.” He emphatically stated that the Iraq War is Saddam Hussein against the world. The United Nations’ troops are continuallyreferred to as the multi-national forces. The decision has been made to establish an interdependent community of nations that will rulethe world under United Nations authority. The Bible says that this will lead us into a great world government. The formation of thisgovernment is at hand.

Is it coincidental that all of these major prophecies pertaining to the last times are being fulfilled simultaneously?

In 1968, Irvin Baxter Jr. discovered the United Statesand other modern nations in the Bible. He also found theBerlin Wall in the Bible and that one day it was to be torndown, reuniting Germany, and that event would be thecatalyst to spark an international movement called the"New World Order." These things have now come topass.

Irvin Baxter Jr., a Pentecostal minister, beganEndtime Ministries in 1986 when he wrote A MessageFor The President, a book explaining the major prophe-

cies of the Bible which he had been teaching since 1968.After the fall of the Berlin Wall, prophetic fulfillment

accelerated rapidly. The decision was made to launchEndtime. The purpose of the magazine is to explain theprophecies of the Bible and to show that they are nowbeing fulfilled in intricate detail.

Articles focus on the soon return of Jesus Christ, thetruth of the Bible, and the need for salvation. Endtimedoes not deal with doctrinal controversies, as valid asthey may be. This will be left to other publications.

What is Endtime Magazine?

On January 1, 2002, I kissed mywife Judy goodbye at the curbof the Dayton Airport. I under-stood that I was probablyembarking on the most danger-

ous experience of my life. However, the trip toIndia had been in the making for a long time.

When tensions had broken out betweenIndia and Pakistan, the e-mails began toarrive,urging me not to go. The news waswarning that the threat of nuclear war was veryreal. Yet thirty-five ministerial students inNew Delhi were waiting the promised coursethrough the book of Revelation. After prayer,my wife and I felt strongly that I should stillgo. So the decision was made.

Let me explain why I felt so strongly aboutteaching in India. Revelation 9:15-16 prophe-sies a war that will kill one-third of mankind.These two billion people that this prophecysays will die, will almost certainly includemuch of the nation of India. I felt I had toexplain this prophecy to the ministerial stu-dents so that they could explain it to the peo-ple of India.

Standing in front of the class, it was time toteach Revelation 9:15-16. I did the best that Icould.

“I don’t want to tell you this, but I believethat I owe it to you. This passage prophesies awar that will kill two billion people. I believe

India will probably be included in this numberthat will die. Many of you listening to metoday could very well be among the prophesiedtwo billion. I don’t say this to alarm you. I’mtelling you this because this apocalyptic war isinevitable. It is going to happen. The onlyquestion is when. It could be within the nexttwo months, or it could be two or three yearsaway. I can’t tell you for sure. I do know it can’tbe far away. As ministers, it is your responsi-bility to sound this warning to the people ofIndia. You need to work as never beforebecause the time may run out before you getthe job done.”

After teaching six classes per day for fivedays, the course was completed. It was time forme to return home. On January 11, I safelyboarded the airplane for my return to the U.S.

A week or so after arriving home, a newsarticle arrested my attention. It stated thatIndia had intended to launch its attack onPakistan on January 10th. Pressure from theUnited States caused them to postpone theattack. I realized that had the war actuallybegun as was planned, I might not have beenable to leave India on time…or I might nothave left there alive at all.

Holy Roller Talk

I want to take the time to say Thank You! When I first foundyour radio broadcast I thought, “Holy roller talk.” But after lis-tening, your broadcast speaks to what I have known for sometime – not from being a Christian, but as a marine. Dangerous Men

Thanks for your ministry! It teaches me much and reaffirmsmuch of my understanding from my own reading.

I’ve heard you say that Gorbachev is the person most likely tobecome the Antichrist - based on Daniel 7:7’s “iron teeth”. If Iunderstood this comment correctly, the Senior G. Bush (at thattime President of the USA) announced the New World Orderbeing ushered in along with Gorbachev. What would you say isthe Senior Bush’s role, if any, in the New World Order today?And how can we trust his son, our president? Is W’s seeming“Christianity” false? Wouldn’t that make him a very dangerousman? How would this fit, if Dad were on the Antichrist’s side?

Reply: The questions you are asking are being puzzled overby many people right now. Former President Bush definitelywas a proponent of internationalism. He conducted the entireGulf War under the auspices of the United Nations, and hemade the phrase “international community” a household term.

The big question that many of us are wrestling with is this:“Is our current President George W. Bush following in his

father’s footsteps, or is he genuinely opposed to the surrender ofU.S. sovereignty to global structures of governance?”

Unlike his father, President Bush refused to request UNapproval for his actions in Afghanistan and the war on terrorism.He seems to be adamant in his opposition to U.S. ratification ofthe International Criminal Court. It has even been reported thathe has investigated if there is a way for the United States torescind its signature from the statute.

On the other hand, President Bush was ruthless in his insis-tence that Slobodan Milosevic be tried before the World Courtrather than in Yugoslavia. Bush also has turned the rebuildingof Afghanistan over to the United Nations, which insures thatthe government of Afghanistan will be structured in the one-world image of the UN.

One of the most difficult issues to deal with is how much anindividual should be trusted just because he claims to be aChristian. The Bible clearly teaches that the False Prophet, whowill work hand-in-hand with the Antichrist, will be one of theforemost Christian leaders in the world. Yet he will be an inte-gral part of Satan’s program on earth. No wonder Jesus said ofthe times just ahead, “For there shall arise false Christs, and falseprophets, and shall show great signs and wonders; insomuchthat, if it were possible, they shall deceive the very elect.”(Matthew 24:24)

All we can do as Christians is to listen very closely to what ourPresident says, and then disregard it. Pay attention only to whathe actually does. In addition to this, we should sincerely pray forhim daily, as scripture commands us to do. President Bush him-self may not understand where some of the forces around him areattempting to lead.

As a result of all the searching in the wilderness, I found yourprogramme, “Politics & Religion” in August. I think God ledme to it. Since then I never let you go. I’m Swedish, and havebeen living in Israel for five years and in Portugal for two years.Now I’m on my way back to Sweden.

The Mark: “In” or “On”?

Newer Bibles have been modified to say that the mark wouldbe put “on” your right hand or “on” your forehead. One of thethings that really made my mind up that the chip is the mark,is when I picked up an older Bible, a King James, and it clearlystated that the mark would be “IN” the right hand, or “IN” theforehead. Everyone can verify that for himself! Just pick up anewer translation and compare with the King James.

Unilateral Separation

What are we looking for in order to know if UnilateralSeparation is the confirmation of the Covenant?

Reply: Number one, if it in fact is implemented. Secondly, ifit is done with the approval of the international community.Thirdly, does it open the way for the sharing of the TempleMount between Arabs and Jews, and does it allow for the build-ing of Israel’s Third Temple? If all of these things happen, itwould certainly seem that the confirmation of the covenant hasbeen accomplished.

Factoring O’Reilly

On Feb. 22, Bill O’Reilly from Fox News, who claims to be aChristian, made a scary comparison of fundamental Christianityand fundamental Islam. He basically said that the problem wasthat BOTH sides believed that you could only go to Heaven ifyou believe the way that they do. He refers to (us) as a “smallstrand” of Christians.

Mr. O’ Reilly has already stated that he believes, based on theteachings of the Catholic Church, that you can go to Heaven justby being a “good person”.

It seems to me that he is making an attempt to sway his mil-lions of viewers and readers to believe that Jesus is not the onlyway to Heaven. He also uses President Bush’s insistence thatIslam is a “peaceful religion”. The entire show was sparked bythe comments that Pat Robertson made on his website about

how Islam is a violent and evil religion.This is the kind of thing that sends chills down my spine.

This one man is already responsible for thousands of peoplechanging their views. What are we to do?

Reply: This move toward Interfaithism is the religious waveof the future. It is also inspired by the deceptive spirits of theAntichrist, which will attempt to lead the whole world intopolitical and religious unity. All this will be done in the nameof promoting peace and security.

I usually read your “prophecy news links” because they repre-sent the real trash of what’s on the Internet. Is there a prophecyyou are pushing, or are you just trying to get Christians to takean interest in foreign news? Most of the stories you post are notfrom credible news sources and should be discounted immedi-ately for that reason. I will continue to read, just because it’shumorous.

For 1,000 years throughout theMiddle Ages, Europe was thecenter of world civilization.The United States did not yetexist, and Europe, known as

the Holy Roman Empire, dominated theearth. This state of affairs actually contin-ued until World War II. Then came theemergence of the two superpowers—theSoviet Union and the United States ofAmerica.

For the last fifty years, the countries ofEurope have been relegated to second-ratepower status. But they haven’t liked it.Consequently, they have been working

diligently to do something about it.The first step to regaining Europe’s

accustomed status was the formation ofthe Common Market in 1957. The goalwas the creation of a United States ofEurope that could exercise power equal tothe U.S. and the USSR. European leadersbelieved that, if Europe were unified eco-nomically, political union wouldinevitably follow.

The Common Market began with sixnations in 1957, then grew to ten, then totwelve and finally to the fifteen membernations of today. During this time, manyEuropean structures, including aEuropean parliament and a European

court system, were established.The European Union achieved total

economic union on January 1, 1993. Alltariffs among the member nations wereabolished. Crops raised in France could besold in Germany just as freely as theycould be raised in Indiana and sold inOhio. Border checkpoints disappeared,allowing freedom of movement among allthe citizens of Europe.

Immediately after this milestone, a newgoal was set—political and monetaryunion. On January 1, 1999, twelve of thefifteen member nations created a new cur-rency called the euro. It was determinedthat a three-year transition period would

be allowed for the new money to bephased in and the old national currenciesto be phased out.

While these events were progressing,an all-European military force was creat-ed. The steady march toward a bonafideUnited States of Europe continued.

On March 1, 2002, the French franc,the Italian lira, the proud Germandeutsche mark, and the other nationalcurrencies of Europe were assigned to thedustbin of history. Europe now had itsfirst common currency since the RomanEmpire 2,000 years ago. What a definingmoment!

Phase two in the march toward totalEuropean integration was complete.Former Chancellor of Germany HelmutKohl stated that the adoption of a com-mon currency was the step that made thetransition to a United Europe irreversible.

But it was not time to stop; the dreamof a United States of Europe was nowwithin reach. The last huge hurdle to beconquered was political union.

In December of 2001, the date was setfor a conference to draw up a Europeanconstitution. Many Europeans are liken-ing this conference to the American con-stitutional convention of 1787 when theUnited States constitution was born.

Symbolic of European aspirations for amore perfect association, the conventionbegan on March 1, 2002, the day thatnational currencies officially stopped cir-culating.

Revival of Holy Roman Empireprophesied

The adoption of one form of money bythe many nations of Europe may seemvery far removed from us here in theUnited States. Why should we care if aEuropean constitution is adopted and theUnited States of Europe becomes a reali-ty? Why should it concern us at all?

Two major prophecies in the Biblespecifically teach us that the Holy RomanEmpire will be resurrected in the end-times. This rebirth of the Holy RomanEmpire will then give rise to theAntichrist.

In Daniel 2, the Roman Empire thatruled the world during the time of Christwas depicted as the legs of iron on theimage of Nebuchadnezzar’s dream. Thefeet of iron mingled with clay symbolizedthe Holy Roman Empire, which was born500 years after the demise of the Roman

Empire. It was somewhat of an aberrationof the Roman Empire. The element ofclay, which was mingled with the ironportrayed the Roman Catholic Churchthat intertwined herself with the politicalpowers of the day. This unholy unionbetween church and state became knownas the Holy Roman Empire.

The prophecy clearly states that the laststage of human government, before thekingdom of God is finally established onearth, is represented by the ten toes—partof iron and part of clay. These ten toessymbolize the ten kings that will reignwith the Antichrist. Daniel 2:44describes it this way: “And in the days ofthese kings shall the God of heaven set upa kingdom, which shall never bedestroyed: and the kingdom shall not beleft to other people, but it shall break inpieces and consume all these kingdoms,and it shall stand for ever.”

The book of Revelation describes thesesame ten kings that will be in power atthe Second Coming of Jesus. The prophe-cies state that the ten kings “…willreceive power as kings one hour with thebeast” (the Antichrist).

The other prophecy portraying theHoly Roman Empire is found inRevelation 17. In this passage, the Holy

Roman Empire is symbolized by awoman riding a beast. The beast is theendtime world government structure thatwill be ruled by the Antichrist. Thewoman is the Roman Catholic Church.The Holy Roman Empire has always beena coalition between the political powersof Europe and the Roman CatholicChurch.

Present European Union is theHoly Roman Empire revived

The first coin of the United Europe wasminted in 1987. The chosen insignia onthat first coin was that of Charlemagne,the first Holy Roman Emperor who wascrowned by Pope Leo III in 800 AD. Thechoice of Charlemagne for the first coinwas no accident. The rulers of Europeknow full well that they are re-creatingthe Holy Roman Empire. What theydon’t know is that they are rebuilding theHoly Roman Empire just like the Bibleforetold that they would.

The European Union is expected toexpand to 25 nations by the middle of2004. By then, Europe will have aEuropean president and a European con-stitution. Can the prophesied ruler of thisrevived Holy Roman Empire, theAntichrist, be far behind? ❏

Prophecy Insight

Jesus told us that a wicked andadulterous generation seeksafter a sign. Yet He also statedin Mark 13:29, “…when yeshall see these things come to pass, know that it is nigh, even at the doors.”

What’s the balance here? Simply stat-ed, our relationship and loyalty to Godshould not be based on the latest prophet-

ic sign. At the same time, however, whenwe see the prophesied signs of the Lord’sSecond Coming reported in our newspa-pers, it should instill in us an added senseof urgency to fulfill the great commis-sion. The Apostle Paul said, “…knowingthe time, that now it is high time toawake out of sleep; for now is our salva-tion nearer than when we believed.”

So, lest we fall asleep, let’s take a look atfive prophetic signs that literally scream tous, “His coming is near, even at the door!”

1. Prior to His coming, the nation ofIsrael will be re-gathered to herhomeland from the nations of theearth into which she has been scat-tered. (Ezekiel 37:21-28)

dent knew that the prophecy of Ezekiel37 was being fulfilled. There had been noJewish nation on the earth since theRomans had forced the dispersal of theJewish people in 70 AD. Now, almost2,000 years later, the “chosen nation” wasreborn. Could there be any doubt that theera in which the kingdom of God wouldultimately be established had begun?

2. His coming will occur during atime when a mark or a number can beused to control buying and selling.(Revelation 13:16-18)

The dreaded prophecy of the mark ofthe beast has lurked menacingly in thelast few pages of the Bible since John’srevelation in 95-96 AD. How could everyman, woman, boy and girl be given anumber or mark that would be used forparticipation in the world’s economic sys-tem?

The implementation of the SocialSecurity number was the first harbingerthat the prophesied numbering systemwas beginning to rear its ugly head. Still,it seemed farfetched to think that everyperson on earth could be tracked and con-trolled in the fashion seemingly describedin the Bible.

In the 1950’s, we began to hear aboutthe marvels and the potential of the com-puter. As the computer revolution pickedup speed, computers that previously filledwhole rooms, soon sat on our laps.

Less than ten years ago, believe it ornot, the Internet entered our lives. Thelatest news has just announced that one-half billion people are now connected tothis amazing worldwide technology. Thecomputer revolution has been absolutelyastounding!

Then came the proliferation of creditcards. It suddenly became clear just howeasy it would be to set up the prophesied“cashless society.”

As this article goes to press, the FederalDrug Administration is poised to approvethe injection of computer chips under theskin for ID and medical purposes.

Can the mark of the beast prophesiedfor the endtime be far behind?

3. He will return during a time ofworld government. (Revelation 13:3,7-8)

In case you haven’t noticed, we arebeing inundated with “world” organiza-tions. We have the World Trade

Organization, the World HealthOrganization, the World Bank, theWorld Food Program, the World TourismOrganization, the World MeteorologicalOrganization, and the World IntellectualProperty Organization—just to name afew.

Oh yes. There’s one more that cannotbe left out…the World Court, presentlybeing made famous by the trial ofSlobadan Milosevic. The question mustbe asked—Is it possible to have a worldcourt if you don’t have a world govern-ment? Isn’t it the function of any courtsystem to uphold the laws of the govern-ment it represents? The time has come todispense with all the double talk. Wehave a world court because we have aworld government. And it is the worldgovernment prophesied in the Bible forthe endtime!

4. There will be a revival of the HolyRoman Empire at the time of His com-ing. (Daniel 2:41-44 & Revelation17:1-3)

On March 1, 2002, twelve nations thatwere formerly part of the Holy RomanEmpire forsook their national currencies,adopting one currency—the euro. This isthe first time Europe has had a singleform of money since the reign of theRoman Empire 2,000 years ago.

On the same day, a constitutional con-

vention was opened for the purpose of cre-ating a federal constitution for the antici-pated United States of Europe. This con-stitution is to be completed and adoptedby 2004.

Make no mistake about it. We arepresently witnessing the prophesiedrevival of the Holy Roman Empire.

5. The West Bank in Israel will be avery dangerous place to live. (Matthew24:16-21)

The West Bank area is the biblical areaof Judea and is referred to as Judea byIsraelis today. Jesus prophesied inMatthew 24:16-21 that those living inJudea would have to flee for their livesbecause the persecution would become sosevere.

During the week prior to writing thisarticle, over 300 have died in this areabecause of the Arab-Israeli conflict. Andthings promise to get much, much worse.The present dispute over Judea is exactlywhat Jesus foresaw when He gave theprophecy 2,000 years ago.

These five prophetic fulfillments mere-ly scratch the surface of those propheciesin the process of fulfillment at this pre-sent time. The abundance of propheticfulfillment in our time leaves absolutelyno doubt that the return of our Messiah,Jesus, is at hand. ❏

Israel’s eighth Prime Minister,Shimon Peres, has much in com-mon with Mikhail Gorbachev.Both are former heads of state,both have addressed the United

Nations, and both are recipients of theNobel Peace Prize. More importantly,however, is the fact that they are nowpartners in the effort to implement theEarth Charter — a new set of planetary“commandments” for mankind.

Ten years ago at the United NationsRio Earth Summit, the concept of a char-ter to guide humanity into a “new era”was introduced. After the Summit hadended, Maurice Strong, Secretary-Generalof the event, organized a highly influen-tial group known as the Earth Council tofurther develop this idea. By 1994, Mr.Strong and his Council had met withMikhail Gorbachev. The outcome was asigned agreement to cooperatively draftthe Earth Charter and submit it for glob-al circulation.

Committees were created, and variousversions of the Charter were drafted. Andwhile the Earth Council and MauriceStrong continued to be central to theprocess, they seemingly handed toGorbachev and his organization, GreenCross International (GCI), the essentialtask of promoting the Charter to theinternational community. To this end,GCI and the former Soviet leader havebeen tirelessly at work building a web ofsupporting grassroots organizations andworld leaders — all in the hope of seeingthis “new commandment” universallyaccepted and enforced.

finalized Charter now advances sixteenprinciples its founders believe are neces-sary to govern a “sustainable global soci-ety.” Addressing mankind’s relationshipto the environment, the Charter requeststhat humanity take an earth-firstapproach in its attitudes and actionstowards the planet.Not surprisingly, theCharter also calls for asocialized world econ-omy, universal health-care with a focal pointon “reproduction”issues, and the expan-sion of human rightscoupled with theelimination of reli-gious “intolerance.”In other words, theexclusive message off u n d a m e n t a lChristianity, westernvalues such as liberty,and a free-marketeconomy do not fitwithin the EarthCharter’s mandates orintentions.

This “new-worldc i v i l i z a t i o n ” —Gorbachev style — iswhat Shimon Peres isnow endorsing.

Finding Common GroundThe linkage between Shimon Peres and

Mikhail Gorbachev runs deep. On June 5,1997, Gorbachev and Peres met inGeneva to speak at a dinner event withthe American International Club.Gorbachev talked about creating a “NewGlobal Order,” and Peres gave an updateon the Middle East peace process.However, in order to achieve this “NewGlobal Order” — Earth Charter style —and to secure lasting peace in the MiddleEast, a common factor needed to be foundand leveraged. This “common factor”would have to be universal in nature, yetspecific enough to be used in local andregional settings. The next day, a high-level meeting took place in Genevaregarding international water usage; thecore region of concern was Israel and theMiddle East. Green Cross International,it was decided, would promote more thanjust the Earth Charter. It would bear thetorch of international “water manage-

ment.” Meetings were initially held between

GCI, the World Water Council, andUNESCO. Not long into the process,Peres was personally selected byGorbachev to sit as an honorary GreenCross International board member.

Likewise, Shimon and his organization,the Peres Peace Center, were appointed toact as the chief liaison between the stateof Israeli and the GCI water project.Water, it was hoped, would be directlytied into the region’s peace negotiations.

By 1998, the Mideast water-peaceagenda was fast taking shape. An impor-tant regional forum was convened whichfocused on Israel, Jordan, and thePalestinian areas of the West Bank andGaza. Keynote speakers included CrownPrince El Hassan bin Talal of Jordan,Mikhail Gorbachev, Shimon Peres, YasserArafat, World Bank President JamesWolfensohn, and Ariel Sharon (Ministerof Foreign Affairs for Israel at the time).Like Peres, Mr. Sharon has been exten-sively involved in this water-peace pro-gram.

Water and SovereigntyOf major importance to the GCI water

agenda is the issue of national sovereign-ty. On March 20, 2000, numerous

Mideast officials, including Peres, metwith Gorbachev at The Hague in order todiscuss the problems and complexities ofsovereignty as it relates to water usage.Although the Middle East region was keyto the discussions, it was only one part ofa much larger strategy. Water “manage-

ment,” it was decided,had to be global inscope.

Working with othermajor organizations,GCI has been ham-mering out a compre-hensive World WaterVision. Under theproposed plan, “WaterCourse ManagementAuthorities” wouldoversee critical waterresources, supercedingnational governmentsin determining howbest to handle waterissues. This “manage-ment authority”would operate underthe guidance of aworld water agency —possibly as a UnitedNations entity orstructured in a similarfashion to NATO. It isbelieved that by fol-

lowing this course of action, water relatedconflicts and tensions could be averted.Peace in Israel, and in other parts of theworld, could be accomplished via the“liquid of life.”

While the outward intentions of suchan agency may appear beneficial, seriousquestions and concerns arise. How wouldfavoritism over certain nations or groupsof people be curtailed? Remember, wateris necessary for individual life and for theeconomic stability of every country. Whatabout corruption within the agency or theexercising of unethical practices, policiesor judgments by the water authority? Theeffects of corruption or abuse could havedevastating impacts on local populations,agriculture and industries. What aboutthe potential for blackmail? Placing the“liquid of life” in the hands of a worldauthority would be terrific leverage.Nations would have to comply with thewishes of the international community orface possible water-related repercussions.

tive would a world agency be in properlyunderstanding and dealing with site-spe-cific water problems? The higher thechain of command, the less practical andrealistic problem solving becomes. Localpopulations, even when the issues tran-scend national boundaries, have a greaterappreciation and comprehension of whatworks and what doesn’t. These are situa-tions where local, state and national gov-ernments need to work together withoutthe added interference of an outside force.

One thing can be “predicted” withsurety; however. Whenever this WorldWater Vision and its anticipated manage-ment authority comes into play, advocatesfor global governance will be holding amajor trump card against the historicalstandard of national sovereignty.Likewise, if the Earth Charter becomesuniversally accepted, which is the desireof Gorbachev and Peres, the solidificationof a global regime would be given a majorboost.

Considering that Green CrossInternational is heavily involved in bothinitiatives, it is logical to conclude thatboth programs have been tailored to com-pliment each other towards the creationof a powerful new political entity. What’smore, if both the Charter and the WaterVision are embraced and enacted upon bythe international community, the tenta-cles of globalization will reach beyondmerely the political. They will enter intothe realm of religion and belief.

Christians to BlameIn 1967, history professor Lynn White

wrote a highly praised article in Sciencemagazine titled “The Historical Roots ofOur Ecological Crisis.” In that article, heexplained that western Christianity is toblame directly for our present environ-mental problems. White envisioned a“new religion,” or, at the very least, a re-thinking of our old beliefs. In fact,Professor White went so far as to proposethat the ecological crisis would onlyworsen “until we reject the Christianaxiom...” This thinking, while not direct-ly expressed in the Earth Charter or inGCI’s water program, is there nonethe-less.

Within the language of the Charter andin the call for a World Water agenda isthe appeal for an enlarged human-rightsstrategy—one that incorporates radicalenvironmentalism into the sphere of

human relations. The Earth Charter viewsmankind and nature as being equal andintertwined. The Water Vision — onceplaced within the context of the EarthCharter — elevates H2O beyond just abasic need or commodity. Water takes ona social, cultural and even spiritualdimension. Hence, in the Earth Charterpromoted by Gorbachev and Peres, watermanagement policies run the serious riskof becoming a tool for propagating a formof globalized paganism.

The United Nations has already beentaking this approach to water and theother “elements of life.” In 1999, theUnited Nations EnvironmentProgramme released a massive reporttitled “Cultural and Spiritual Values ofBiodiversity.” Over 700 pages long, thisdocument dedicates itself to promotingearth-based spirituality while condemn-ing western Christian values as beingenvironmentally destructive. As an inte-gral part of “biodiversity,” water is thor-oughly discussed.

On page 399, water and “the sacred”are linked together by suggesting thatH2O “may be given a religious or ritualsignificance.” A little further on, the doc-

ument directly blames Christian mission-aries for their role in stripping theHawaiian natives of their spiritualattunement to water. This is typical of thereport. Not only is water discussed as aspiritual entity, but also the Earth Charteris recognized as an important part of the“alternative world-view” process — onethat the United Nations believes is neces-sary in order to achieve their New Worldsociety.

Water, Water EverywhereWater is a basic human need, and water

issues do cross national borders. Indeed,much of the world’s fresh water istransnational in nature. Canada and theUnited States, for example, share theGreat Lakes, along with other basins andrivers. The Rhine and Danube Rivers areshared by many European countries, as isthe Mekong shared in southeast-Asia, theNiger and Zaire river systems in Africa,and the Uruguay in South America.

Granted, there are water managementproblems. Some water systems, such asthe Aral Sea in the former Soviet Union,are in a critical state of deterioration.Drastic local measures are necessary if the

remaining water in the Aral basin is to besaved. However, a world managementprogram steeped in the cause of globalgovernance is not the answer. Rather, ifsuch an international regime comes intofull force, the “cure may be worse thanthe illness.”

For Israel and her neighbors, water willcontinue to play a strategic role in thepeace process and in developing thatregion’s economy. Moreover, how Israel’swater will be dealt with (and who dealswith it) will affect more than just theMiddle East. If the Water Vision ofGorbachev and Peres is realized, everynation that shares water will give up someof its sovereignty to a global authority. Itappears that Israel is a test site for a muchlarger agenda.

Also, if Gorbachev and Peres succeed inthe Earth Charter initiative, each nationand every person will be subject to its dic-tates. Last September’s terrorist attackstemporarily set back the Charter’s imple-mentation schedule. However, advocatesfor Gorbachev’s agenda have a full slate ofactivities planned for this year. Of partic-ular concern is the upcoming tenthanniversary celebration of the UnitedNations Rio Earth Summit, which will

take place this fall in South Africa.Already Earth Charter and UN officialshave been holding joint meetings todetermine what role the Charter will playduring and after this celebratory event.

Yes, Peres and Gorbachev do have a lotin common. Both want to see the EarthCharter and the World Water Visionbecome a reality, and both seek compre-hensive international measures to ensure“peace” in the Middle East and through-out the world. However, if these shareddesires come to fruition, national sover-eignty and personal freedoms will be cur-tailed. It’s only a matter of time.

A Tactful ReactionHow do we respond in the face of world

changes too large for any of us to slowdown, let alone halt? Obviously, one ofthe first points of response is education.We need to educate ourselves to the issuesat hand, and alert others. Hosea 4:6laments that “My people are destroyed forlack of knowledge.” For those of us whoare actively involved in the communityvia the local church, community organi-zations, the work force or government, weneed to be educated as to how globalagendas filter down to the national, state

and local levels. And we need to informothers. It is only then that we can maketactful responses in whatever positionGod places us.

We need to pray. While this also seemsobvious, it can’t be overstated. We needto pray for our country’s leadership, peti-tioning for wisdom in the face of increas-ingly complex pressures. We need to prayfor Israel — both for its leadership and forits citizens — that they would call uponGod for wisdom and strength. And weneed to pray for Gorbachev and Peres,that they would recognize Jesus Christ asthe only way to the Father (John 14:6).Too often we overlook the fact that themen who are implementing global gover-nance are just that—men; hence they tooare burdened with the chains of sin. Theyneed Christ just as much as our neighborsand family.

It is important that we keep things intheir proper perspective. Challenging cir-cumstances will come for all of us, andthey will come in a variety of forms,including the challenges of globalization.Therefore, it is imperative to remember,“God is our refuge and strength, A verypresent help in trouble. Therefore we willnot fear…” (Psalm 46:1-2a) ❏

The Middle East is boiling again.Since the Middle East is that part of theworld, which will ultimately give usArmageddon, it simply cannot beignored.

It is highly possible that we are lessthan ten years away from theBattle of Armageddon. If this istrue, we will see things in the verynear future that must come to pass

between where we are right now and thatfinal battle.

In order to understand the events thatwill be witnessed in the times just ahead,we need to know what has led us to thispoint, where we are right now, and whatthe Bible prophesies will happen betweennow and Armageddon.

How did we reach this present crisis?

When the Allied soldiers finallymarched into the Nazi concentrationcamps at the end of World War II, thehorrific scenes that unfolded before theireyes shocked the conscience of a worldthat had been infected with anti-Semitism. For many years, world Jewryhad campaigned to influence the world’sgreat powers to create a Jewish homeland.Finally, the magnitude of the holocaustjarred the sensibilities of the world’s lead-ers. On November 29, 1947, the UnitedNations voted to partition the area calledPalestine, creating a Jewish state and anArab state.

Palestinians reject first offer ofstatehood

The Jews accepted the UN action, butthe Arabs rejected it. The day after Israel’sofficial declaration of statehood, the Arabnations surrounding Israel, declared waragainst the fledgling state. The nations ofthe world thought for sure that the 42million Arabs would quickly annihilate

the 600,000 Jews living in Israel.To the world’s amazement, the tiny

nation of Israel not only held her own,but actually gained territory against herattackers.

When a cease-fire was finally declaredin 1949, Israel controlled half ofJerusalem. Jordan controlled the WestBank and the other half of Jerusalemwhere the Temple Mount is located. Thissituation continued for the next 18 years.

Palestinians reject second offer of statehood

In 1967, Egyptian President GamelAbdel Nasser blockaded the Straits ofTiran from passage by Israeli ships. Thiswas a blatant violation of internationallaw.

When Israel saw that Egypt was benton war, she launched a pre-emptivestrike. Egypt’s planes were caught on theground, and the Egyptian airforce wasalmost totally destroyed.

As soon as the conflict began, Syriaentered the war against Israel. In Israel’scounterattack, she captured the Golan

Heights from which Syrians had beenshelling the northern Jewish settlementsfor many years.

The Israeli government then calledKing Hussein of Jordan, telling him thatif Jordan stayed out of the conflict, Israelwould not attack her. However, KingHussein did not feel he could sit asidewhile his Arab brethren were at war withthe enemy. He launched an attack againstIsrael. Israel counterattacked, capturingEast Jerusalem and all the way to theJordan River. Egypt, Syria and Jordanwere totally defeated by Israel in six shortdays.

A few months later Israel offered toreturn all territories captured in the 1967War in exchange for peace and Arabrecognition of Israel’s right to exist. Theoffer was rejected. This was when theArabs issued their famous “Three No’s”—no to peace, no to negotiation, no torecognition.

attack against Israel on Yom Kippur,Israel’s holiest day. Israel was caughttotally off guard and sustained heavycasualties. Ariel Sharon was brought outof retirement and given command ofIsrael’s southern army. Sharon directed abrilliant maneuver, crossing the SuezCanal, cutting the Egyptian army offfrom behind. Nothing stood between theIsraeli armies and Cairo. The UN imme-diately clamored for a cease-fire.

The Yom Kippur War demonstratedthat Arabs could hold their own in battleagainst the Israelis. This restoration ofArab honor prepared the ground forEgypt to deal with Israel as an equal.

In 1977, Anwar Sadat made his famoustrip to Jerusalem. The end result of thiscourageous move was a peace agreementbetween Israel and Egypt. But Sadat paidfor this treaty with his life. He was assas-sinated by those in his own country thatopposed what he had done.

As a result of the Israeli-Egyptianagreement, all land captured from Egyptin the 1967 War was returned. Egypt andIsrael have enjoyed peace since ’79. Butit’s been a “cold peace.”

Oslo Peace AccordsIn 1991, the United States persuaded

and pressured Israel to attend peace talksin Madrid, Spain. Israeli Prime MinisterYitzhak Shamir intended to talk, talk andtalk for the next 25 years, if necessary.However, in 1992, the Israeli peopleelected Yitzhak Rabin, a candidate whopromised peace.

On September 13, 1993, the famousOslo Accords were signed—accompaniedby the famous handshake between Rabinand Arafat. The Accords called for aphased withdrawal from certain of theterritories captured in the 1967 War,with further withdrawals to be negotiatedlater. It also provided for Yasser Arafat tomove into the West Bank so that he couldbegin building the structures of govern-ment that would rule the Palestinian peo-ple. In 1994, Arafat was allowed to moveinto the West Bank, setting up his gov-ernment.

On November 4, 1995, Yitzhak Rabinwas assassinated by Israelis opposing hispolicies. This elevated Shimon Peres tothe position of Prime Minister. Electionswere scheduled for May of 1996—elec-tions that everyone was sure Peres would

Palestinians reject statehood for third time

2000—President Clinton invitedBarak and Arafat to Camp David. Clintonwanted to reach a final resolution to theMiddle East quagmire. Barak offered towithdraw from 97% of the West Bank, tore-divide Jerusalem, and to place all ofthe Temple Mount under Arab control.The world was shocked! No one believedthat an Israeli Prime Minister would gothis far…especially to permanently sur-render control over Israel’s holiest site onthe face of the earth. The shock thatBarak would make the offer was onlyexceeded by the greater shock that Arafatturned it down. Arafat said that Israelwould have to also allow 3.5 millionPalestinian refugees from 1948 andbefore to return to their homes in main-land Israel—Tel Aviv, Haifa and WestJerusalem. Fulfilling this request wouldmean the end of the modern state ofIsrael.

September 28, 2000—When ArielSharon heard that Barak had offered toplace the Temple Mount underPalestinian control forever, he felt that astand had to be taken. On September 28,2000, he made a visit to the TempleMount, declaring that it must remainunder Israeli control forever.Immediately, Arafat ordered the launch-ing of what has come to be called the AlAqsa intifada. Blood began to flow; bat-tles began to be fought.

February 4, 2001—Ariel Sharon waselected to be Prime Minister of Israel byan unprecedented margin of victory. Israelwas voting for a strong man who wouldnot sell them out. Sharon formed a coali-tion government with the Labor Party led

by liberal Shimon Peres. Sharon and Pereshave launched many peace initiativessince their government was formed, all tono avail.

September 11, 2001—Muslim mili-tants hijacked four American airplanes,successfully flying three of them into theWorld Trade Center and Pentagon.When the Palestinians heard about thisstrike against America, they danced inthe streets with joy. Many world leaders,already disillusioned with Arafat forturning down the best peace deal hecould ever hope for, began to understandthat those who rejoice with terrorists areterrorists themselves.

On January 3, 2002, a ship called

Karine A was spotted by U.S. intelligencetaking on a load of weaponry off the coastof Iran. The ship was then tracked until itentered the Red Sea. Israeli DefenseForces were notified, and the ship wasintercepted. It was found that fifty tons ofarmaments were on board, destined fordelivery to the Palestinians. All of thesearmaments were illegal for thePalestinians to have according to thesigned Oslo agreements. Arafat then lied,saying that he had no knowledge con-cerning the arms shipment. Any trustthat President Bush had toward Arafatwas destroyed, seemingly for good.

The present situationThe Palestinian terror attacks against

Israel have continued and escalated. ArielSharon has apparently thrown all hope ofa negotiated settlement to the side, atleast for the time being. Sharon recentlysaid, “We will hit them so hard, they willbeg for mercy. Then we will talk.”

All the discussion in Israel is of unilat-eral separation. Simply stated, Israelwould draw boundaries between herselfand the Palestinians and then enforcethose boundaries without Palestinianconsent. Palestinians would not haveaccess to Israel; consequently, the oppor-

tunity to carry out suicide bombingsagainst Israel would not exist.

If Israel follows through with this sep-aration plan, she would love to obtaininternational agreement for this action.This would insure the support of theworld community.

What does the Bible prophesy?In the midst of all the chaos of the

Middle East, the only things we can knowfor sure are those things specificallyprophesied in the Bible. Let’s take a lookat the prophecies concerning Israel’sfuture.

1. The Antichrist and the world com-munity will confirm a covenant withIsrael for seven years. This seven-yearperiod ends at the Battle of Armageddon.

Daniel 9:27 states that the coming one-world leader, the Antichrist, is the onewho will confirm a covenant concerningthe nation of Israel and the TempleMount. Some people contend that it wasJesus who confirmed the covenant, notthe Antichrist who is yet to come. Howdo we know then that it is the Antichristthat confirms the covenant?

Notice in the prophecy that the onewho confirms the covenant will also causethe sacrifice and oblation to cease. Thesame person places the abomination ofdesolation. Thus we know that the personwho takes away the daily sacrifice andplaces the abomination of desolation, isthe one who confirms the covenant.

Daniel 11:31 clearly teaches that theAntichrist and his partners will take awaythe daily sacrifice and place the abomina-tion that makes desolate. This proves con-clusively that it is not the real Christ whoconfirms the covenant, but theAntichrist.

2. Israel’s Third Temple will be com-pleted and worship, including animal sac-rifice, will be enacted there before thefirst three and one-half years expire.

In Daniel 9:27, we are told that theAntichrist will cause the sacrifice andoblation to cease three and one-half yearsafter the confirmation of the covenant. Hecan’t stop sacrifices that have not yetbegun and Jewish people believe the tem-ple must be rebuilt before the sacrificecan be re-instituted. Furthermore, bothRevelation 11:1-2 and II Thessalonians2:4 teach that a temple will be in opera-tion at least three and one-half yearsbefore Armageddon.

3. The Temple Mount will be under asharing arrangement, probably under UNsupervision.

The prophecy says it this way: “Andthere was given me a reed like unto a rod:and the angel stood, saying, Rise, andmeasure the temple of God, and the altar,and them that worship therein. But thecourt which is without the temple leaveout, and measure it not; for it is givenunto the Gentiles: and the holy city shallthey tread under foot forty and twomonths.” (Revelation 11:1-2)

This prophecy describes the TempleMount 42 months before the Battle ofArmageddon. Notice that the temple will

be under Jewish control, but the outercourt of the temple will be under Gentilecontrol. President Clinton suggested thisexact arrangement at the negotiationsbetween Yasser Arafat and Ehud Barak atCamp David in July of 2000.

4. The Antichrist will sit in the rebuilttemple claiming to be God.

II Thessalonians 2:3-4 says that thisevent will be the revealing of the identityof the Antichrist to God’s people. Theterms “man of sin” and “son of perdition”are other names used in the Bible forreferring to the Antichrist.

5. The great tribulation will begin atthe time of the abomination of desolationand continue for the final three and one-half years.

Jesus clearly stated, in Matthew24:15-21, that the event known as theabomination of desolation would triggerthe great tribulation. This time of terri-ble persecution will then last for three

and one-half years.6. The Battle of Armageddon will

occur at the end of the great tribulationperiod.

The Battle of Armageddon will be trig-gered when the world communityinvades Israel in order to force complianceto some edict of the United Nations.Zechariah 14:2 describes it this way: “ForI will gather all nations against Jerusalemto battle.”

Where are we headed?As we go to press, U.S. Envoy Anthony

Zinni is arriving in Israel. The hope isthat he will be able to bring about acease-fire and then convince Israel and thePalestinians to begin peace negotiations.

Israel has just completed its largestmilitary operations since the invasion ofLebanon in 1982. The Israeli army hasgone through virtually every Palestiniantown, arresting 1,200 suspected terroristsand killing 50 or 60 who have resisted.Sharon claims he is cleaning out terroriststhat Yasser Arafat refused to deal with.

In the meantime, Saudi Arabia hasfloated a peace plan that has receivedworldwide attention. They have proposedthat Israel withdraw to pre-1967 bordersand that all Arab states, in return, com-mit to be at peace with Israel.

Many people believe the region is head-ed for full-scale war. Others in Israelthink Sharon’s government has failed andshould be replaced.

So what will happen? Let’s review whatwe know one more time. We know that acovenant between the Antichrist andIsrael will be confirmed at some point intime. We know that Israel’s Third Templewill be built and animal sacrificesresumed. We also know that the TempleMount will be shared. At the same time,we know conflict between Israelis andPalestinians will continue to boil becauseJesus said great tribulation would beginin the West Bank area (Judea).

We may not be able to chart an exactcourse between where we are and wherewe are going. However, it seems that uni-lateral action on the part of Israel with theconsent of the international community isthe best explanation for what lies ahead.There may be temporary cease-fires andhopes for peace agreements.

But one thing is certain. The ultimatedestiny for the Middle East and for theworld is the Battle of Armageddon. ❏

Under criticism by privacyadvocates, as well as Christians con-cerned over the biblically prophesied“mark of the beast,” the Nasdaq-tradedcompany removed all references tohuman implantation from its website.Its CEO claimed publicly that therewere “no plans” to make the technologyimplantable, but rather for the user to“wear” the device outside his body, say,on a wristwatch.

Then came Sept. 11, and the resultingurgent national drive to increaseAmerica’s homeland security. And inthis new climate of fear, in which manyAmericans are susceptible to valuingsafety over freedom, security over priva-cy, the company has found its goldenopportunity to re-introduce the subder-mal microchip implant it had previous-ly deemed too hot for the American pub-lic to handle.

Heads up, future cyborgs!Implantable chips areback in the news, withthe current focus on atiny chip that can be

injected into your body, then used toidentify and monitor you.

Media reports are calling it “the stuff ofscience fiction,” and Reuters likened it tosomething from the 1999 blockbusterfilm, “The Matrix.”

Referring to the chip, David Coursey ofZDNet contends that “even paranoia hasa point,” and John Soat of InformationWeek predicts that now “the call for a

national ID system takes on a whole newmeaning.”

At the center of the worldwide mediastir: the announcement by AppliedDigital Solutions of Palm Beach, Fla.(Nasdaq: ADSX) of its implantable“VeriChip.”

In a post-9/11 landscape, where varioushigh-tech security systems are vying forsupremacy and a lasting relationship withthe government, ADS wants its piece ofthe pie.

These high-tech security systems havesparked a renewed debate over how bestto profit from emergent identificationtechnologies while maintaining a fair bal-ance between civil liberties and theincreased need for homeland security.

Critics of the chip express concernsover the specter of persons being injectedwith the chips against their will, perhapssurreptitiously in conjunction with a rou-tine vaccination. In addition, they areconcerned about the possibility of suchchips eventually being mandated by the

government as a form of ID. But let’s separate the science from the

fiction. What is the VeriChip? How doesit work? What is its potential relation-ship to government? Is it really a poten-tial threat to civil liberties—or a life-sav-ing miracle of science?

Enhance present forms of IDThe VeriChip is a syringe-injectable

radio-frequency device about the size ofthe tip of a ballpoint pen. It’s designed tocarry a unique ID number and other crit-ical personal data. Once injected, the chipcan be activated by an external scanner,and radio frequency signals then transmitthe ID number and other stored informa-tion to a telephone, the Internet or anFDA-compliant data-storage site.

Its initial use is being touted as an IDfor medical implants, such as heart-regu-lating devices and artificial joints. Thechip can hold info on required settings,the device’s original components, andother essential parameters. It is also a

“The Chip”?Post-9/11 security fears usher in subdermal chips

As WorldNetDaily reported in March2000, Applied Digital Solutions is alsopushing use of the chip for emergencyand security applications, to “enhancepresent forms of ID,” to enable search-and-rescue operations, and assist in vari-ous law enforcement activities. The com-pany contends that its technology is supe-rior to biometric technologies, pointingout that implantation makes it a “tamper-proof” means of identification, “substan-tially diminishing theft, loss, duplicationor counterfeit.”

Are critics’ concerns over privacy andtracking capabilities of the chip legiti-mate? Or are they just the technophobicsquawkings of a collective pen of“Chicken Littles”?

The Los Angeles Times contends that“these chips are not true tracking devices”and that “the next generation of bodychips, which transmit signals from a dis-tance is still several years away.” FuturistPaul Saffo says, “This is rightly going toprompt a debate … but the good news iswe still have years to figure it out.”

Do we? To truly understand the future poten-

tial of this technology, it is necessary tolook back to perhaps one of the mostunderreported events of 2000.

Back to the future The event was the private unveiling of

ADS’s prototypical Digital Angel tech-nology—a technology centered around animplantable chip that, once injected intoa human being, allows it to be tracked inreal time via GPS (Global PositioningSystem), the information then relayedwirelessly to the Internet, where the per-son’s location, movements and vital signscan be remotely monitored and stored ina database.

The company first announced that ithad acquired the rights to this device inDecember of 1999. Company documentsdescribed Digital Angel as “animplantable transceiver … inserted justunder the skin … that sends and receivesdata and can be continuously tracked byGPS. When implanted in a body thedevice is powered electromagnetically bymuscle movement and can be triggeredby the ‘wearer’ or the monitoring facili-ty.” Implantation of Digital Angel wassaid to be “future” and “subject to FDA

approval,” with its preliminary use beingoutside the body, in the form of a wrist-watch.

The strategy implied a “Phase 1—Phase 2” approach: using the technologyoutside the body first, followed by aPhase 2 for implantation, dictated by theneed to wait for FDA approval as well asthe need to gain popular acceptance.

Prior to the unveiling of the prototype,Applied Digital Solutions CEO RichardSullivan issued a statement intended tounderline the “historic first” of this“breakthrough in communications tech-nology.” He announced that Secretary ofCommerce Norman Mineta would attendthe private event.

“We’re extremely pleased thatSecretary Mineta will attend our DigitalAngel demonstration,” said Sullivan.“Secretary Mineta has been a champion of‘digital inclusion’—making access to dig-ital technologies more widely accessibleto all segments of society.” The CEOadded: “He has been an advocate of creat-ing viable partnerships between the pub-lic and private sectors as part of a nation-al digital inclusion campaign. We believeour Digital Angel technology has enor-mous potential along these lines.”

“In fact,” added Sullivan, “DigitalAngel represents an exciting ‘new fron-tier’ in the digital revolution.”

The announcement followed Mineta’sappearance as keynote speaker at theInland Empire Technology Summit forADS subsidiary Timely TechnologyCorporation. The focus of that event wassaid to be “sharing insight concerningcurrent and future impact of technologyon government, on education and on ourdaily lives.”

The unveiling of Digital Angel washeld the evening of Oct. 30, 2000, atCipriani’s of 42nd St. in New York City.The invitation-only event was closed tothe public, and was made up mainly ofmembers of the government, the military,private investors and Wall Street analysts.Media presence was scant.

Some of those in attendance were sur-prised to find that not only was Mineta inattendance, but he was featured as thekeynote speaker of the evening.

Advising Clinton on ‘digital inclusion’

On a futuristic set, bathed in a purplishlight, CEO Richard Sullivan took thepodium welcoming attendees to “thefuture.” He stressed that the evening wasspecial because “we have a number of veryimportant government officials with usthis evening … including … NormanMineta.” Sullivan emphasized Mineta’srole in “helping to develop technology

After introducing Mineta, the twoshook hands as Sullivan announced: “Ijust want to say how delighted we are atApplied Digital Solutions to launch anexciting new partnership with you andthe federal government in the importantarea of digital inclusion.”

Mineta, flanked by four bodyguards,gave a keynote address underscoring thevalue of working together to build coali-tions, and of partnering with “firms likeyours” so that the “elderly and less fortu-nate” might benefit from the “great tech-nological revolution.” He underscored thehistoric chance to spread the benefits ofthe information technology to everyonein society, and emphasized the impor-tance of digital technology to America’seconomy, emphasizing the importance ofinformation technology in the economicsuccess of the U.S.

Mineta added: “I applaud you, DickSullivan, for your success and the direc-tion you are taking with Applied DigitalSolutions. … As a nation, we cannotafford to miss out on this technology.”

$100 billion marketplace Much was made throughout the

evening of the importance of digital tech-nology to the U.S. economy.Economically, what was at stake was aprojected $100 billion marketplace forDigital Angel. Critics have claimed thisfigure is impossible unless universalimplantation mandated by governmentwas being considered. Conservative esti-mates for use in the U.S. were said to be$70 billion, characterized as 26 potentialvertical markets. A company spokesman,who asked not to be named, revealed thatthe $70 billion projection was providedby McKinsey & Co. management consult-ants. Randy Geissler, CEO of DigitalAngel.net Inc., a wholly owned sub-

sidiary, said that strong alliances were keyto Digital Angel’s success, and that thecompany’s close partnerships withRaytheon-Hughes, the U.S. Departmentof Energy and pharmaceutical giants like“Schering-Plough” meant that the com-pany was well-positioned for success.

Geissler was the former head of the ani-mal-tagging company Destron Fearing.ADS acquired the company in order toleverage its management experience andrelevant technologies, like its trade-marked “BioBond,” a polymer sheathused to coat the glass-encased chip, caus-ing fibrocytes and collagen fibers to growaround the chip, preventing migration ofthe chip through body tissue. Under theguise of Destron Fearing, Digital Angelhas won FCC licensing approval of thefrequencies needed for widespread track-ing of humans.

The most anticipated part of the eventwas the actual demonstration of the tech-nology, described as a “show” by ChiefScientist Dr. Peter Zhou. A formerresearch scientist at the Max PlanckInstitute in Stuttgart, Germany, and aholder of advanced degrees in solid statephysics and materials science from theBeijing University of Science andTechnology and the University ofPennsylvania, Zhou also has numerouspatents in the field of electronic detection

systems. Zhou announced that an ADS engineer

equipped with the chip would be trackedthrough the streets of Manhattan.Attendees watched as the engineer’s loca-tion and movements were tracked in real-time via GPS, relayed wirelessly to theInternet, and displayed on a large screenbefore the audience. The computer screenrepresented the engineer’s location as ared arrow on a large color street map ofNew York City. The red arrow moved for-ward, backward, to the left or right, asthe engineer, miles away, moved throughthe city. A separate Internet screen dis-played the employee’s pulse and bodytemperature for the past two weeks.

Not all of the medical monitoringcapabilities of the technology were dis-played, such as monitoring heart patients,or using blood-oxygen analysis to deter-mine if the subject being monitored isawake or asleep. The person monitoringthe subject can even tell exactly where onthe continuum between waking andsleeping he is.

antenna that receives signals from GPSsatellites and collects biological informa-tion from embedded bio-sensors. At therequest of the ground station, it will sendthese two groups of information to themonitoring center, through different lev-els of ground stations and Internet sys-tems. It has a built-in GPS receiver and awireless transceiver.

To communicate potential uses ofDigital Angel, a video of edited newsreports was shown, depicting humantragedies that might have been avoidedhad the technology been used. Theseincluded the death of a tractor-trailer dri-ver who fell asleep at the wheel, as well asthe search for missing children.

The potential applications for DigitalAngel advocated by ADS were stunningin their scope and novelty. Also notablewas the number of items that would makethe government a customer.

Applications included medical moni-toring: enabling a doctor to remotelyaccess a “wearer’s” vital signs and analyzethem, as well as detect potential problemsbefore he was even aware of symptoms. Ofcourse, “the doctor would know where tolocate the patient.” Security applicationsincluded locating kidnap victims, lostchildren, autistic persons and the elderly.Warfare applications promised to enablecommanders to “always know where theirsoldiers are located and whether they arealive or wounded.” In this capacity,Digital Angel was said to be “an invalu-able aid, both tactically and strategically.”

In the realm of personal identification,the company stressed that “requiring thisID for logon would prevent unauthorizedaccess to computers.” The suggestion wasalso made that in this context, DigitalAngel could conceivably become a uni-versal standard for computer access secu-rity, superior to all other systems, becauseother systems reside in the machine, notthe person. However, this estimate dis-counted viable biometric logon set-ups,such as Compaq’s fingerprint scanner.

Law enforcement uses recommendedfor Digital Angel included its use “totrack parolees, people under house arrest,and individuals in witness protection pro-grams.” Use of the chip was even advo-cated as a method of gun control, pre-venting “unauthorized use of firearms.” Itwas predicted that overall, “Digital Angelwill become an interface between thehuman and electronic networks.”

Early press coverage of Digital Angelwas scarce, but news reports and com-mentaries by WorldNetDaily and a fewothers generated sufficient grass-rootsprotests to ADS over implantation plansthat the company backed away temporar-ily from talking about subcutaneousmicrochips, and using terms like “cash-less society.”

Implantation? What implantation?

Indeed, two weeks prior to the Oct. 30,2000, prototype demonstration, refer-ences to human implantation wereremoved from the company’s website,including references in archived pressreleases, and the fact that the implantable“future” version of Digital Angel wouldbe “subject to FDA approval.”

Also removed from the site was adescription of the company as the “pio-neer and developer of syringe-injectable,miniaturized microchip technology forimplantation under the skin,” the methodof implantation said to be “similar to aroutine vaccination”—the microchip saidto contain the “individual’s unique IDnumber,” which would be “stored perma-nently, just under the skin, where it can-not be lost or altered.”

The microchip was said to remain for“the life of the individual with the uniqueID number intact.” The wording wasexactly the same as that used under the

Destron Fearing animal-tracking page,with the substitution of “individual” for“animal.”

Although these references to humanimplantation were removed from thewebsite, there are archived versions invarious forms preserved on individualhome pages and other areas of theInternet.

During his speech, Sullivan sought toallay concerns over implantation, bydenying that the company ever had suchplans: “Let me be very clear on oneimportant point,” he said. “This potentialmarketplace is for an attachable device …something worn on the outside...close tothe skin. We’re not even planning on oreven considering any other applications atthis time. Only external uses! All ourenergy, all our focus … all our effort is inthis direction, period. Any otherapproach or suggestion is purely hypo-thetical speculation at this time.”

Following Sullivan’s speech, thisreporter asked Dr. Zhou if he had beenquoted correctly by WorldNetDaily in aprevious interview, when he reportedlysaid: “Before there may have been resist-ance, but not anymore. People are gettingused to implants. New century, newtrend.” And, “We will be a hybrid of elec-tronic intelligence and our own soul.” Heindicated that he had, in fact, been quot-ed correctly.

In comments following the demonstra-tion, Chief Technology Officer Dr. KeithBolton, drink in hand, expressed exasper-ation over implantation protests comingfrom a “noisy 20 percent,” whom he iden-tified as Christians who believe theDigital Angel chip is the “mark of thebeast.” He was sure “the other 80 percentwouldn’t mind.” “Besides,” he added,“FDA approval could take years, and wecan start making money off of this thingnow!”

As recently as June, 2001, the compa-ny continued to deny implantation plans,when it offered a response statement to beposted on Declan McCullagh’s Politechwebsite. The statement asserted, “We arenot now developing, nor do we have anyplans to develop anything other than anexternal, wearable device.”

At the conclusion of the event, privateinvestors like Nathan Rosenblatt indicat-ed that they were waiting to see moredetails of the partnership with the gov-ernment unveiled before investing. Dr.

Yongguang Chen and Dr. Duanyi Wangcalled Digital Angel a “great invention”and added for “final success” they hopedthat the U.S. government would “furtherloosen” military restrictions on the use ofGPS satellites.

The scientists were part of a researchteam that worked on developing the tech-nology. The prototype was originallyscheduled to debut in December of lastyear, but in July ADS signed an agree-ment with Princeton University and theNew Jersey Institute of Technology, foradditional scientists to work on the pro-ject, under Zhou’s leadership. Theyworked on issues like “antenna size” and“body tissue absorption.” As a result, theagreement “helped implement an acceler-ated schedule for delivery of a workingprototype of Digital Angel,” resulting init debuting nine days before the presiden-tial election.

Following the October event, Minetahad been scheduled to appear withSullivan at a Boca Raton school, alongwith business leaders in a PR event, to beheld the day before the election. Freecomputers would be offered for schools,but the centerpiece of the appearance wasto be the showing of an edited five-minute video of the New York City event.

When questioned about the nature ofthe partnership with the government,company spokesman Matthew Cossolottosuggested it would include the subsidiz-ing of Digital Angel for “minorities, thedisadvantaged and the elderly.” He addedthat a formal public announcement of thefull extent of the partnership would notbe made until one to two weeks after theelection.

The event was cancelled at the lastminute, perhaps due to the difficulty insecuring mass media coverage as a form offree advertising, the day before a presi-dential election.

Sept. 11 opens door to implantation

As the saying goes, the Chinese charac-ter for “crisis” is similar to the one for“opportunity,” and in the wake of Sept.11 the company is strongly pushing itsproduct—and openly discussing implan-tation—adding that now people are moreopen to it.

Recent company statements haveunderscored that the VeriChip is superiorto biometric technologies, since it is

designed to be implanted and is thus“tamper-proof.” The company is lookingto bring these products to “market asquickly as possible.”

A week after the tragedy, Digital Angeloffered its GPS tracking devices (current-ly in wristwatch form) to New YorkCity’s fire department, as well as to the

U.S. Department of Transportation, say-ing that they could “aid in continuedsearch-and-rescue efforts.”

CEO Sullivan remarked, “With therecent tragedy, it is our duty to expeditethe development process and offer DigitalAngel in its current beta form to the res-cue efforts of all agencies connected withnational and personal safety and security,”adding that “Digital Angel has manyapplications that can be used during thisnational tragedy.”

Then in a revelation that gives “profil-ing” a whole new twist, Palm Beach Postwriter Deborah Circelli reported thatCEO Sullivan complained that the 9-11tragedy proved “today’s security measuresdon’t work very well,” and he has a betteridea. Namely, implant all foreigners pass-ing through customs or immigrationswith the chips. The implanted chipwould replace green cards, “allowing offi-cials to monitor their activities better andkeep terrorists out.” In the wake of Sept.11, he said, “the government is more pre-pared, for the overall benefit of our citi-zens, to advocate some of these changes.”

Circelli continued: “In five years,Sullivan said he can see the chips beingused in children, the elderly, prisoners,and by employers at facilities such as air-ports and nuclear plants. Society in gen-eral could use them instead of ATM or

U.S. Nuclear Contingency Plan

A classified Pentagon report leaked tothe New York Times and Los Angeles Timessent nuclear-sized shockwaves throughthe offices of many world leaders. Thereport allegedly reveals a U.S. contin-gency plan for nuclear strikes againstRussia, China, Iraq, Iran, Libya, Syria andNorth Korea. The military was reported-ly asked to prepare plans on how to usenuclear weapons against these sevencountries. The details were presented toCongress in early January.

Moscow is politely calling for “clarifi-cation.” Beijing is hopping mad; theirrhetoric is more intense than usual.

The Pentagon has said that it needed tokeep on hand nuclear weapons in reserve incase of “unforeseen international events.”

The report may undermine all crediblearms reduction efforts between Americaand Russia.

North Korea said it would reactstrongly to the nuclear arms review, say-ing that Washington would be “grosslymistaken” if it tried to attack NorthKorea with nuclear weapons, and that itwill not remain a passive onlooker to theBush administration, but “take a strongcountermeasure against it.”

China’s Army Prepares

The Taiwan issue is far from forgottenin the minds of Chinese leaders. In thewake of heightening tensions with theU.S., President Jiang Zemin has asked hisarmed forces to make “solid preparationfor military struggle.” The issue—Taiwan, of course.

No specific timeframe was given, normethod of attack. Jiang, in this March 13speech to the PLA—China’s People’sLiberation Army, was using unusually

harsh rhetoric in response to, amongother things, the presence of Taiwan’sdefense minister in the U.S. trying tostrike an arms deal. China recentlyannounced a 17% military budgetincrease of its own. The actual figure ofincrease is, of course, unknown.

National ID? Americans Suspicious

According to the research firm, GartnerInc., 41 percent of U.S. citizens opposethe creation of a national identity data-base. In support – 26 percent.

Proposals for a National I.D. systemhave gained momentum in light of Sept.11. State drivers’ license bureaus are seek-ing to link their databases to create a defacto National I.D.

The Gartner survey revealed thatAmericans are suspicious of what the gov-ernment might do with a National I.D.system, and would support it only forvery limited purposes, such as airportsecurity and immigration.

“The government hasn’t done a goodjob of explaining to the public how it’sgoing to protect from misuse all theinformation it gathers about them,’’ saidRichard Hunter, a Gartner vice presidentand research director for security issues.

Due to the survey, the government nowknows better what stands between themand their National I.D. Don’t expect theissue to vanish. On the contrary...

Gorbachev Calls Clinton a Novice

Former Soviet leader MikhailGorbachev said President Clinton was aforeign policy novice and that commu-nism was “pure propaganda.”

Under Clinton, said Gorbachev, theUnited States “wasted” a promisingdecade that followed the end of the Cold

War. “My relationship with PresidentClinton was quite strained, if not down-right tense,” said Gorbachev in an inter-view published in Crisis, a Catholic pub-lication. “I think he missed out on oppor-tunities to develop a new world order.None of us were ready for the challengesof globalization.”

He also condemned Clinton for failingto adequately address the issue of globalpoverty. Wealth redistribution is a centralplank of communism.

In other revelatory remarks, Gorbachevacknowledged that the Soviet’s commu-nist structure was an “unreal system” thatforced its leaders to govern through lies.

Gorbachev gave high praises to currentRussian leader, Vladimir Putin, whoserved under Gorbachev as head of theKGB’s Berlin unit during the 1989Velvet Revolution.

Supreme Court Passes Buck

The ACLU has intensified its waragainst God’s Ten Commandments, andgained another victory in the U.S.Supreme Court.

In late February, the high court votedagainst hearing an appeal from Indiana’songoing church-state battle, allowing alower court ruling to stand that banishesa Ten Commandments monument fromthe Statehouse lawn. Riding on this waveof success, the Indiana Civil LibertiesUnion has initiated several other lawsuits,including one in Wayne County, home ofEndtime magazine.

It is a little known fact that the TenCommandments are engraved in stonebehind the head of the Supreme Court’sChief Justice himself. Thus, asked thiswriter on a recent radio broadcast, “Whysue Wayne County? Why doesn’t theACLU sue the Supreme Court itself?”

A rally was held on March 2nd in freez-ing rain at the Wayne County Courthouseby a large group of residents who favorkeeping the commandments on display.Following the rally, one of the organizers,John Burt, set out on a 500-mile walkingtrek to the nation’s capitol. He hopes toarrive on June 27 with a load of signa-tures and a message for President Bushand the U.S. Congress insisting that theyhave the Supreme Court revisit the issueof the separation of church and state.

NATO Plus Russia?

NATO was originally established toprotect the West from Russia. Now theNorth Atlantic Treaty Organization is ahair’s breadth away from absorbingRussia into its midst.

After months of negotiations that wereaccelerated by the events of 9-11, Russiawas offered a seat at the 19-memberNATO table between its alphabetic neigh-bors, Portugal and Spain. Russia has beeninvited to discuss and decide significantissues of mutual concern for all membernations. The only power it was not givenwas the right to veto the organization’spolitical or military policies. A new paral-lel organization has been established, how-ever, called the NATO-Russia Council.

Revelation 13:1-3 depicts an endtimeworld government comprised of a lion—Great Britain, a leopard—Germany, and abear—Russia. As we witness the officialmerging of Russia with NATO, and see itact more and more as a military arm of

the United Nations, we are likewise wit-nessing the fulfillment of Revelation 13.

A NATO with Russia is an oxymoron.It’s nothing less than a world army.

Getting ChippedTM

Digital Angel’s new VeriChip humanimplant device enjoyed an unprecedentedmedia blitz during February and Marchwith major print and television coverageworldwide.

The VeriChip’s poster-child for theblitz was the Jacobs family from BocaRaton, Florida—the first volunteer testsubjects. Digital Angel VP Keith Boltonnicknamed the Jacobs “The Chipsons,”and the media refers to them as America’sfirst cyborg family—part human, partmachine.

Applied Digital Solutions, DigitalAngel’s parent company, is trademarkingthe phrase “Get Chipped!” The Christianand privacy advocate communities havesome concerns.

U.S. Endorses Palestinian State

The nightmarish headline aboveappeared on a March 12 Associated Pressreport from the United Nations about thepassage of a U.S.-sponsored resolutionbacking the establishment of an inde-pendent Palestinian state. It was the firstsuch official acknowledgement byAmerica in the Security Council.

The resolution called for “affirming avision of a region where two states, Israeland Palestinian, live side by side withinsecure and recognized borders.”

In conjunction with this announce-ment, UN Secretary-General Kofi Annanraised the stakes with his toughest state-ment to date on the Middle East situationby calling upon Israelis to end their “ille-

gal occupation” of Palestinian territoryand to stop using excessive force. It wasthe first time this world governmentalleader classified Israel’s presence in Judea-Samaria as “illegal.”

Annan also called on the SecurityCouncil “to lend its full authority andinfluence to the vital cause of peace.”

Israel’s diplomatic team in Jerusalemresponded to Annan’s speech with fourquestions: “Why is his voice not heardwhen children and babies are murderedby Palestinian brutality; does he knowthat between 1948 and 1967 when therewas no occupation, there already wasPalestinian terror; does he know thatwhen former prime minister Ehud Barakoffered to end the occupation, thePalestinians responded with a terror cam-paign; does he think that with thisvicious attack on Israel, he can ever be anhonest broker?”

Yehuda Lancry, Israeli Ambassador tothe UN, noted that a Security Councilresolution that criticizes Israel and “doesnot speak of Palestinian terror... will onlylead to a biased position.”

As of March 13, 1,200 Palestinians and350 Israelis have been killed, including230 in the most recent 10 day span.

Chief Rabbis Declare Day of Fasting

Due to the continuing bloodshed anddeteriorating security situation, the chiefrabbis of Israel declared March 13 as aspecial day of prayer and fasting. Theannouncement was unprecedented formodern Israel and underscores the severi-ty of the state of affairs.

Special prayer at the Western Wall washeld in the late afternoon led by both chiefrabbis, Yisrael Lau and Eliahu BakshiDoron, and included the sounding of theshofar. Jews world over were called uponto pray and read the Pslams. ❏

ny’s point man in Washington, a factunderscored by Sullivan’s comment that,“We chose the NYC Fire Department andthe U.S. Department of Transportationdue to existing relationships. In fact,Norman Mineta … was the keynotespeaker at the Digital Angel WorldLaunch in October of 2000.”

Financial hopes Applied Digital Solutions has high

hopes for this intense product push. In1999 it boasted a five-year revenuegrowth of 64,012 percent and was rankedthe fifth-fastest-growing technologycompany by Deloitte and Touche’s “Fast500.” Earlier in 2000, the company wonthe prestigious “Technology Pioneer’s”award from the World Economic Forumin Davos, Switzerland. The award is givenfor contributions “to worldwide econom-ic development and social progressthrough technological advancements.”The World Economic Forum gives suchawards as part of its commitment to fos-ter entrepreneurship in the “global publicinterest.”

But the company lost $11.4 million inthe first quarter of 2001, and $33.9 mil-lion for all of 2000, leading it to gain a2001 “Turkey of the Year Award” fromthe South Florida Business Journal, for“gushing red ink faster than you can say‘pass the gravy please.’” Called a “trou-bled company” that had “suffered sizablelosses over the past few years,” SFBJnoted that the company had been “cau-tioned over a possible delisting fromNasdaq,” that it was earlier in the month“out of compliance with its line of cred-it,” and that a “recent SEC filing said thecompany couldn’t predict whether orwhen it would be profitable.” The Turkeycolumn concluded with the plea forsomeone to “stick a fork in this turkey.It’s done!”

Even though the company has a lot rid-ing on this recent public relations push,questions over involuntary uses of thechip remain amid contradictory companycommunications and recent news reports.

A Silicon Strategies article reported thatthe company was “backing away frominvoluntary ID applications, such as thetracking of prisoners or parolees,” while aWired magazine article said that DigitalAngel technology was “designed with

people who stray in mind, such asparolees.” Reuters had, in fact, alreadyreported in December that the companyhad won a 3-year trial contract withCalifornia to provide its technology totrack parolees in Los Angeles. The SiliconStrategies report quoted CTO Bolton assaying, “we are advocating that this tech-nology be totally voluntary,” while aWashington Post article said Bolton indi-cated use of the chip should be voluntaryunless the law allows otherwise.

Regarding the California project totrack parolees, Amro Albanna of DigitalAngel said, “we hope this program willserve as a model for other counties in thestate.”

Civil libertarians agree that technologyis value-neutral, amoral. But they addthat the key issue at stake is who will con-trol the technology, and whether it couldever be used against the will of people.Referring to the broad gamut ofimplantable chips, Dr. Ellen McGhee,director of the Long Island Center forEthics, at Long Island University, writes:“A paramount worry is who will controlthe technology … the prospects for sinis-ter invasions of liberty and privacy arealarming.”

Lucas Mast, an Internet privacy andtelecommunications analyst at the CatoInstitute in Washington, D.C., expressesthe same worry: “My biggest concernfrom this technology is the unknownvariables. If the government becomes acustomer, will they have access to alldatabases maintained by ADS? For exam-ple, if they implant the technology infelons, will they also be able to track peo-

ple and items which have the technologyfor other purposes like e-commerce?” Headds that “the slippery slope argumentmay come into play here—using it forfelons, using it for lost persons, and all ofa sudden it moves from being a voluntaryprogram to one mandated by our govern-ment for the alleged good of society. Nowthat is scary.”

The use of the technology in felons alsoraises the problem of removal, since suchchips are said to be “virtually impossibleto remove,” once implanted.

In her ethical assessment ofimplantable chips, McGhee and Dr.Gerald Maguire of the Royal Institute ofTechnology in Kista, Sweden, wiselycalled for public debate and a multi-disci-plinary evaluation from thinkers in fieldsof computer science, biophysics, medi-cine, law, religion, philosophy, publicpolicy and international economy. Such adebate and evaluation is “urgently need-ed,” they said.

And although such implantable chiptechnology undoubtedly has many bene-ficial and even potentially life-savinguses, Mast warns that “if the technologyof Digital Angel falls into the wronghands, be that of terrorists or our owngovernment, we may all be concerned andit may be too late to turn back.”

He adds: “It will be interesting to seepublic reaction to this technology—com-parisons to Orwell’s 1984 and even theNazis seem obvious.”

The potential misuses of theimplantable technology underscore therole that independent public policy thinktanks can play in serving the interests ofsociety. Along with the type of publicdebate and evaluation called for byMcGhee, Maguire and others, policythink tanks could recommend legislativeinitiatives designed to ensure that thebenefits of the technology can be reapedwithout involuntary implantation of thetechnology ever becoming a governmentmandate.

Five years ago, a Chicago Tribune writerheld that implantable chips were “long apopular delusion among paranoids”—buthe nevertheless predicted they were “like-ly to be marketed as a consumer itemearly in the next century.”

That prediction is now true. The chipsare real, they’re here to stay, and they’recoming soon to a syringe near you.

Testimonies from overseas strike a spe-cial chord in everyone’s hearts, becausethis is when we realize just how much wetake for granted here in the (mostly) pro-tected shorelines of the United States. Forexample, we received a letter from Africatelling us about how dozens of the peoplein their village gather around the short-wave nightly at 1:00 A.M. to tune in ourradio broadcast. Several others have toldus that they must keep the volume downfor fear of who may discover what they arelistening to.

We just received a letter from GerdtMalm from Sweden, who told us how hislife has been turned upside-down byPolitics & Religion and has taken on anew focus. And from Edward Ofutahfrom Uganda who listens daily and isrequesting some vital salvation literaturefrom our ministry.
