WELCOME

Thank you so much for being a part of E4 training this year! The Discipleship Team has worked many hours to make this night relevant and useful for you. I hope you come away with ideas and tools to better equip you to minister to people through Bible Fellowship. My prayer is that you at least receive two things:

First, I pray your passion is renewed. Romans 12:11 says, “Never be lacking in zeal, but keep your spiritual fervor, serving the Lord.” This is a command from God. Everything God wants us to do, every goal we want to reach would come closer to achievement if we stayed obedient to this understanding. Motivation is 90 percent of almost everything. And, verse twelve even explains how to maintain zeal, “Be joyful in hope, patient in affliction, faithful in prayer.”

Second, I pray you remember that what we do is worth the work. My grandfather, proud of his quip on work, likes to remind me, “It’s good for you.” Luke 5:1-11 records the story of the disciples fishing all night. At the end of the night, they were exhausted; but it doesn’t seem that working all night tired them as much as working all night and catching nothing. When we enjoy the adrenaline of fruitful labor for God, we can work and work and work. The joy of the Lord will be our strength (Neh 8:10).

The thing that wearies the soul is the feeling of not accomplishing anything significant. One of the truths I want you to take from E4 is that, when you give yourself to making disciples through Bible Fellowship, you are giving yourself to a worthy work. It should satisfy you, not exhaust you.

Bible Fellowship is a “backbone” organization, meaning it provides a firm biblical foundation and family connection for all members and regular attendees at Temple. It is the only organization that purposefully engages every single member and attendee. Because of the importance of the Bible Fellowship ministry’s huge task, it requires that ALL our leaders are skilled and trained to do an effective job. As Ephesians 4:12 explains, one of our chief goals is to be effective at developing our current and potential leaders. If we want our Bible Fellowships to make an impact on the church body and community, every leader must be at their best.

ADULT BIBLE FELLOWSHIP LEADERSHIP PRINCIPLESEVERY LEADER IS A MENTOR

Seek to replace yourself each year:A) Watch me do it B) Help me do it C) I’ll help you do it D) I’ll watch you do it

OBEDIENCE QUOTIENT IS ESSENTIAL IN ALL LEADERSHIP POSITIONSOur “Obedience Quotient” (i.e., closely following Jesus) is essential. “OQ” matters, more than our “IQ”.

In May 2013, Zach completed his Doctorate of Family Ministries from Southwestern Baptist Theo-logical Seminary and focused his project on writing a Bible study for parents of 5th and 6th graders to begin the conversations about sexual purity at an earlier age. Zach has been married to Laura for 10 years and is blessed to have two children, Lily (8, 3rd grade) and Claire (6, 1st grade). Together as a family, they love playing at Dis-ney World and family game nights! When you can’t find Zach in the office, there is a chance he might be down at the beach running!
