Worshipful Master’s MessageWelcome back from the summer break.
I hope all is well with you and your families.
This month’s message is about American
History and why it’s so important to our
Masonic Brotherhood. This past July 4th
I
took pride in walking with Brethren from
Rising Sun Lodge No. 15 in the Independence
Day Parade. While walking down Kings
Highway I thought to myself how blessed we
are as US citizens and Freemasons to live in
this time period and in this great country.
Everyone knows the significance of July 4th
,
1776. We also have to remember our
Constitution that was signed September 17th
1787 and ratified June 21st
1788. For the
majority of the human race over the centuries
there has been oppression and tyranny. This
country was created by our Founding Fathers
to break from these shackles. As Freemasons
we should take pride in knowing that many of
these men were Brothers. I consider this
country an experiment in Human Freedom.
Always remember this famous quote from
Most Worshipful Benjamin Franklin:
Someone asked him, well Doctor what have
you created a Republic or Monarchy? Ben’s
reply: A Republic if you can keep it. Please
take a moment to reflect upon these words
and the Freedoms we enjoy. Our Brotherhood
teaches responsibility, humbleness, charity
and love. What a better way to celebrate our
Freedoms by expressing to our fellow man
what we do as Freemasons!
I look forward to seeing you in Lodge this
month. Next month on October 2nd
our Lodge
will celebrate “Past Masters Night”. We will
enjoy an Oktoberfest Dinner at 6pm. Lodge
opens at 745pm.
May our Heavenly Father Bless you and keep
you in his eternal Grace.
By Order of
WM Robert A. Taylor

Digital Photo Presentations by Professor Michael "Spike" Fowler
The Pinelands Traveler, Ghost Towns, Bogs, and LegendsProgram features: Sand roads, cranberry bogs, cedar swamps, the Jersey Devil, outstanding scenic photographs,
captivating stories of the Pines. This premier program, already seen by many groups throughout New Jersey
explores the spectacular beauty of the New Jersey Pine Barrens. This exciting program is an excellent way to
learn about this great and mysterious region. Even though yellow milkwort, goat's rue and turkey beard sound
like names of exotic plants that might be found in a tropical rain forest, in reality they are growing right in our
Pinelands. The pygmy forest is a vast region of stunted pine and oak trees that stretch to the horizon. These are
just some of the unusual sights that will be pointed out in this show.
Travel down abandoned stage roads to explore once flourishing towns now known as "ghost towns," and look at
the colorful cranberry industry. Even tales of the Jersey Devil and other Pinelands characters are included in this
extremely popular program.
Presenter Michael Fowler started research on the Pinelands as a hobby over 40 years ago, He has collected
thousands of photos of the South Jersey area, compiled a research database for New Jersey Network and the
Pinelands Commission, written a book and many articles on ghost towns of the Pines, and escorted about 3,000
people on field trips. He is a frequent contributor of information about Pinelands ghost towns, a featured speaker
for many groups, and a member of the New Jersey Pinelands Commission Speakers Organization. He was also
appointed to the Pinelands Educational Advisory Council.

“Now for Something Completely Different”The Charge of the Light Brigade by Alfred Lord Tennyson
Half a league, half a league, half a league onward, All in the valley of Death Rode the six hundred.
“Forward, the Light Brigade! Charge for the guns!” he said. Into the valley of Death Rode the six hundred.
“Forward, the Light Brigade!” Was there a man dismayed? Not though the soldier knew someone had blundered.
Theirs not to make reply, theirs not to reason why, Theirs but to do and die. Into the valley of Death
Rode the six hundred.
Cannon to right of them, Cannon to left of them, Cannon in front of them Volleyed and thundered;
Stormed at with shot and shell, Boldly they rode and well, Into the jaws of Death, Into the mouth of hell Rode the
six hundred.
Flashed all their sabres bare, Flashed as they turned in air sabering the gunners there, Charging an army, while
All the world wondered. Plunged in the battery-smoke Right through the line they broke; Cossack and Russian
Reeled from the sabre stroke Shattered and sundered. Then they rode back, but not the six hundred.
Cannon to right of them, Cannon to left of them, Cannon behind them Volleyed and thundered; Stormed at with
shot and shell, While horse and hero fell. They that had fought so well came through the jaws of Death, Back from
the mouth of hell, All that was left of them, Left of six hundred.
When can their glory fade? O the wild charge they made! All the world wondered. Honor the charge they made!
Honour the Light Brigade, Noble six hundred!
