In addition to our normal business the Endowment Committee will present for adoption the revised Endowment Fund Bylaws.

B.Y.O.S. Bring Your Own Supper @ 5:30

prior to both of these Business Meetings Everyone is invited to come early, bring your own supper and enjoy a little fellowship around the tables as we spend some

time hanging out with our West Main family.

A Bridge Across… When hiking I occasionally must remind myself to look up and take in the scenery. All too easily, I become fixated on staring at my feet watching each step-by-step-by-step down the trail. The same is true in

traversing the interim path, probably for you as church members as well as for me as interim pastor. The oddity of entering an interim transition for a congregation and interim pastor can be like finding the trailhead. We make sure all equipment and supplies are in our packs. We check the map one more time, anticipating what signposts to watch for. Then, we set off. The unique front-end tasks of us getting to know each other, the congregational conversations and surveys of the opening months…well, those are the first miles when we shoulder our backpacks, adjust the straps and move things around to get rid of some unwanted squeaks and rubs. We find our hiking pace. A few miles in, we’ve settled into the trail. We’re no longer thinking “about hiking”; we’re simply doing it now, we’re hiking. Then, suddenly, it occurs to us, “quit staring at your feet and look up!”

Well, look up! We’ve moved along a fair distance, week by week by week, in our transition. Haven’t tripped and sprained anything; no missed turns or dead ends; neither bear nor rattler nor skunk have dissuaded us along the way. Nine months have come and nearly gone!

You (and I) suddenly remember, Oh, yeah…this is just the interim transition. Gary’s here for a while--exactly how long we don’t really know--and, then, the interim will end. The transition hike will be finished, Gary will go away, and we West Mainers and our new Pastor will move on down the trail to great and wondrous sites to come! We’re not quite there. We can’t exactly pencil in a date on the calendar on when this interim transition will wrap up and your new Pastor will take up the journey with you.

The Transition Team is hard at work in its “Active Search Phase”, to use the parlance of interim work. Give your Team a good word of encouragement. (For example: Not Encouraging--“when are you folks gonna wrap it up? It’s been almost a year! Still haven’t found that next pastor?!” Encouraging--“I’m praying for you. Thank you for all the hours you’re putting in on this. I know you all are moving as fast as you feel’s best. Excited to see who God has in mind for us. Thank you.”) Be steadfast in your support of West Main. Be present, enjoying worship and Bible study, sharing in good works of service through our church’s ministries (VBS, for example?), supporting one another in face-to-face, real-time, Christian fellowship. Continue faithful in your financial gifts to West Main’s work. Keep on being the incredibly loving and joyful congregation that is West Main Baptist Church! Gary

FREE CONCERT! WMBC Sanctuary May 29th @ 6:15

The Youth Choir of First Baptist Church in Forsyth, GA will present a concert of sacred music in a traditional style, along with some dramatic sketches in our sanctuary on May 29th. On Thursday,

they will do some mission work with Grace & Main here in Danville. Please come support these young people!

As everyone gets ready to head out on their summer adventures, please consider how you will continue to support West Main while you are away. With air conditioning, VBS, Passport camps, etc. we have many expenses during the summer when giving tends to be less consistent.

You can help us by: mailing your check or giving early (Billie Jo will wait to deposit post-

dated checks,) utilizing your bank’s bill pay service or donating through Simple Give (go to our website and click the DONATE button or download the “Simple Give” App on your phone and follow the instructions.)

Things got a little too close for comfort last summer so let’s all work together to keep everything running smoothly at West Main!
