Welcome
Flowers The sanctuary flowers are given today to the glory of God from
the wedding of Devi Morrison and Ryan Walters.
To Our Guests,We especially welcome you today! More information about our church is available on our website at firstpresaugusta.org.
Spiritual CareIf you would like to speak to someone about what it means to know Jesus Christ or you have any spiritual need or question, please use one of the prayer cards in the pew rack to contact one of our pastors. Our church elders are also available to speak with you. An Elder and his wife will be standing next to the pastor following the service to talk or pray with you.
Children’s Check-inWe are committed to the highest level of protection possible for the children placed in our care on Sundays and at all church events. For this reason, we require parents of newborns through fifth grade children to check in their children before they go to the nursery, Sunday School, Catechism, Children’s Church or any other children’s activity. Kiosks are available in the Welcome Center. The process is quick and easy, and volunteers are available to assist you.
Children’s WorshipWe offer a specially designed program for children in pre-k through fourth grade during the morning services. Leaders will escort children from the sanctuary to their classrooms before the hymn of preparation. Parents are welcome to accompany them to observe where to pick them up after the service. Parents of children in pre-k through second grade are asked to pick up their children following Sunday School or the 11 a.m. worship service.
Nursery Nurseries are provided for infants and toddlers during the worship services and Sunday School. We provide a Mother/Infant Room (room 109) located in the wing behind the sanctuary and to the left, and the Geneva Room is designated as a Cry Room for parents with fussy children, equipped with live video feed of the worship services. Ushers are available to direct you.
Additional Seating Additional seating for morning and evening worship services is available each week in St. Andrew’s Hall.
As stewards of God’s resources, we try not to print an excess of bulletins. We invite you to bring this bulletin with you when you return for the evening service.

The Meditation—How Can I Keep from Singing? ...Robert Lowry, arr. Sally DeFord

†The Call to Worship ....................................................................... from Psalm 61:1-4Hear my cry, O God, listen to my prayer; from the ends of the earth I call to you when my heart is faint.
Lead me to the rock that is higher than I, for you have been my refuge, a strong tower against the enemy.
Let me dwell in your tent forever!
Let me take refuge under the shelter of your wings!
The Lord be with you.And with your spirit.Let us worship God!
My life flows on in endless song, above earth’s lamentation.I hear the sweet though far off hymn that hails a New Creation.Through all the tumult and the strife, I hear the music ringing,It finds an echo in my soul, how can I keep from singing?
What though my joys and comforts die? The Lord, my Savior liveth,What though the darkness gather round? Songs in the night he giveth,No storm can shake my inmost calm, while to that Refuge clinging,Since Christ is Lord of heaven and earth, how can I keep from singing?

†The Confession of Faith .................................................... The Heidelberg Catechism
Q. 1 What is your only comfort in life and death?
A. That I am not my own, but belong both body and soul, in life and in death, to my faithful Savior Jesus Christ. He has fully paid for all my sins with his precious blood, and has set me free from all the power of the devil. He also preserves me in such a way that without the will of my heavenly Father not a hair can fall from my head; indeed, all things must work together for my salvation. Therefore, by his Holy Spirit he also assures me of eternal life and makes me heartily willing and ready from now on to live for him.
The Personal Confession of Sin (Please kneel if able to do so)
God of mercy, whose son, Jesus Christ, longs to gather us in the wide embrace of his love: we confess that we have been wayward children. We have disobeyed your commands; our ears have been deaf to your call; our hearts have been cold to your love. In thought, in word, and in deed we have hurt others and dishonored your name. In your great mercy receive us yet again as your well-beloved children, not because we are worthy but for the sake of him who loved us and gave himself for us.

†The Pastoral Prayer and The Lord’s PrayerOur Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name. Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread, and forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors. And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory forever. Amen.
The Assurance of Pardoning Grace .......................................Romans 8:31-34; 38-39 What, then, shall we say in response to these things? If God is for us, who can be against us? He who did not spare his own Son, but gave him up for us all—how will he not also, along with him, graciously give us all things? Who will bring any charge against those whom God has chosen? It is God who justifies. Who then is the one who condemns? No one. Christ Jesus who died—more than that, who was raised to life—is at the right hand of God and is also interceding for us. For I am convinced that neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither the present nor the future, nor any powers, neither height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord.

*‡The PeaceThe peace of the Lord be with you always.
And also with you.
Abide with me, fast falls the eventide; The darkness deepens, Lord, with me abide! When other helpers fail and comforts flee,Help of the helpless, oh, abide with me.
I need thy presence every passing hour. What but thy grace can foil the tempter’s power?Who like thyself, my guide and stay can be?Through cloud and sunshine, Lord, abide with me.
I fear no foe with thee at hand to bless;Ills have no weight, and tears no bitterness.Death has no sting, the grave no victory;I triumph still if thou abide with me.

The Shorter Catechism, Question 101:
Q. For what do we pray in the first request?
A. In the first request (hallowed be your name) we pray that God will enable us and others to glorify him in everything he uses to make himself known and that he will work out everything to his own glory.

Offertory—We Will Feast In the House of Zion ..........................McCracken, Moore
Words and Music: Sandra McCracken and Joshua Moore | ©2015 Drink Your Tea Music
We will feast in the house of Zion.We will sing with our hearts restored,He has done great things. We will say together,We will feast and weep no more.
We will not be burned by the fire,He is the Lord our God,We are not consumed by the flood—Upheld, protected, gathered up.
In the dark of night, before the dawn My soul, be not afraid. For the promised morning, oh how long? Oh God of Jacob, be my strength.
Every vow we’ve broken and betrayed,You are the faithful one,And from the garden to the grave,Bind us together, bring shalom.

Sometimes a light surprises the Christian while he sings; It is the Lord who rises with healing in his wings: When comforts are declining, he grants the soul again A season of clear shining, to cheer it after rain. In holy contemplation we sweetly then pursue The theme of God’s salvation, and find it ever new; Set free from present sorrow, we cheerfully can say, “Let the unknown tomorrow bring with it what it may.”It can bring with it nothing but he will bear us through; Who gives the lilies clothing will clothe his people too: Beneath the spreading heavens no creature but is fed; And he who feeds the ravens will give his children bread.Though vine nor fig tree neither their wonted fruit shall bear, Though all the field should wither, nor flocks nor herds be there; Yet God the same abiding, his praise shall tune my voice, For, while in him confiding, I cannot but rejoice.
How deep the Father’s love for us,How vast beyond all measure,That he should give his only SonTo make a wretch his treasure. How great the pain of searing loss—The Father turns his face awayAs wounds which mar the Chosen OneBring many sons to glory.
Behold the Man upon the cross,My sin upon his shoulders;Ashamed, I hear my mocking voiceCall out among the scoffers. It was my sin that held him thereUntil it was accomplished; His dying breath has brought me life— I know that it is finished.
I will not boast in anything:No gifts, no power, no wisdom; But I will boast in Jesus Christ,His death and resurrection. Why should I gain from his reward?I cannot give an answer,But this I know with all my heart:His wounds have paid my ransom!
