+ WE MEET JESUS
IN THE MEAL +
About Holy Communion The Lord’s Supper is celebrated here in the belief and glad confidence
that our Lord gives to us as He says, not only bread and wine but His very body and blood to
eat and to drink for the forgiveness of sins and to strengthen our union with Him and with one
another. Our Lord invites to His table those who trust His words, repent of all sin, and who forgive
and love as He forgives and loves us. If this is your belief, we invite you to partake of this special meal. If not, please speak with the pastor or an
elder before you partake. We are happy to answer any questions.

TOGETHER IN ADVENT: In this Together in Advent ser ies we celebrate together as the family of God the coming of his Son for our salvation. Each week will focus on a different activity for our “to-do list” that is centered on giving and sharing instead of on materialism. The theme verse for the entire series is: “Save us, O Lord our God, and gather us from among the nations, that we may give thanks to your holy name and glory in your praise” (Psalm 106:47). We worship each Wednesday night at 7:30 beginning Nov. 29th. We start with “Be Present” “Send Peace” “Share Joy” and we finish with “Wrap in Love.”
CHRISTMAS EVE TIMES have been changed to 2pm Traditional / Family Service, 4pm Contemporary Service and 11pm Traditional Candlelight Service. CHILD ATTENDING gets to make their own keepsake nativity scene!!! Don’t miss out!

READ THE BIBLE IN A YEAR PART DEAUX: It is time again to sign up to read the Bible in a
year. What a better way to get in the Word than to read it without those pesky numbers and headings. Read the
Bible as it was written, one long story without the chapter and verses. Sign up again in the narthex. If you did
this last year pick a different chapter to read. Let's DO THIS! New this year...We will read the New Interna-
tional Version (NIV), and we have a spot for check out date so we can track who has the Bible. Join me in this
endeavor. Pastor Mike

SOUND AND POWER POINT: Neither job is a difficult one to do, but it can't be done if nobody is up there and we need people, especially for first service, to help with this. If you can help or have questions, talk to Pastor Tom or Vicar Mike.
UNWANTED CRAYONS: If you have crayons you’re not using anymore, you can drop them off at the

way to recycle!
CAMP OMEGA CELEBRATES! 50 years ago this summer , CAMP OMEGA began its ministry here in the Minnesota South District of the Lutheran Church Missouri Synod. Please join in a celebration of this mile-stone on Saturday, June 7, as God'people gather to offer thanks and praise, both to God, and for all the prayers and support which have enabled the camp s to serve. A FREE picnic-style dinner will be served at noon, followed by a special celebration service led by former camp Director Pastor Karl Petzke at 2:00. Sum-mer camp counselor-led activities begin at 10:00, and include pontoon boat rides, horse-drawn wagon rides, swimming, canoeing, archery, climbing wall, zip line, games, crafts, live auction and more. Bring lawn chairs or blankets for the Outdoor Worship Center service. RSVP is preferred, but not required. Contact the camp by phone (507)-685-4266, or e-mail [email protected].
ATTENTION THRIVENT MEMBERS! Thr ivent Choice Dollars are available on some policies and investments through Thrivent. You have the option of directing those dollars to a qualified organization. Emanuel qualifies as one of those organizations. You may logon to view your Thrivent accounts or contact your Thrivent representative to direct the available funds. Contact Kenn Krech for more complete directions. [email protected] or 651-455-8252
CAMP OMEGA SUMMER 2014 CAMP GUIDES! The most valuable gift you can give a child is the opportunity to develop independence, self-worth, leadership, responsibility, and most of all, life-long faith in Jesus Christ. At Camp Omega, children develop a stronger sense of self, others and God; they learn how to navigate the world successfully; they learn resiliency; and they learn the value of healthy, Christ-centered rela-tionships! 2014 Camp Omega Camp Guides are available on the Children’s stand in the narthex. Visit www.campomega.org or call 507-685-4266 for more information.
Established in 1964, Camp Omega is a Christian retreat facility and summer camp near Waterville, Minneso-ta. Open year round, Camp Omega serves a wide variety of Christian and community groups. The camp re-
ceives support from congregations of the Minnesota South District of the Lutheran Church - Missouri Synod.
THANKS TO THOSE WHO HAVE BEEN MARKING!!! BIBLE MARKERS NEEDED: If you’re looking for a way to volunteer but are limited, maybe Bible marking is something you would like to try. It’s simply picking up some pocket Bibles and supplies from the Church Library, taking them home and marking them as indicated, and bringing them back when completed. If questions, please ask Gretchen Fett or Donna in the Office. Thank you. NOTE: There is a plastic bin on the shelf in the library marked “Project Marked Bibles” - take unmarked Bibles and supplies from there (labels to put on the inside cover, instructions on how to mark the Bibles, red pens (be sure to return the pens when done) and a sample Bible if you want to see what it’s supposed to look like. Below in a plastic bin are where you can put the completed Bibles.)
ANCESTRY.COM: Pioneer r ecords from Emanuel Lutheran of bir ths, baptisms, weddings and deaths is being compiled on Ancestry.com. It’s an ongoing project being done by a friend of Emanuel’s, Randy Sell, who has been coming faithfully twice a week to church for over 2 years, working on this project. If you’re in-to the family tree, you may want to check it out!

EYE GLASS DONATIONS: LWML continues to collect eyeglasses. The used eyeglasses collected can help children and adults in developing countries enjoy a better quality of life. Many will experience corrected vision for the first time, enabling them to read, attend school, gain employment and take care of their families. MOST Ministries accepts the following types of glasses: Adult and Children Sized glasses, non-prescription sunglasses, over the counter reading glasses. If you have clip-on sunglasses that match the prescription eye wear, please include those with your donation. We have placed a box in the back and are asking the congrega-tion to collect their old glasses and donate them to this cause. Questions for the eyeglasses donations go to Di-anne Sachs at 612-598-3705 or [email protected] or any LWML member!
FUNDS THAT COULD BENEFIT EMANUEL THROUGH THRIVENT CHOICE: Are you a Thrivent Member? Do you have insurance or financial contracts through Thrivent? If so, you may qualify to participate in the Thrivent Choice program and designate funds to Emanuel. Last year , Thrivent Financial for Lutherans provided more than $100 million to help congregations, communities and in-dividuals in need. The Thrivent ChoiceSM program offers two ways members can recommend where Thrivent Financial distributes some of its charitable outreach funds. Some members can participate in both, based on eligibility. Eligible members are designated Choice Dollars, based on insurance premiums, contract values and Thrivent Financial volunteer leadership. Choice Dollars can be directed to Lutheran organizations you pre-fer nationwide, including your local Lutheran congregation. If you are eligible to direct Choice Dollars, you will receive a letter in the mail at the point you become eligible. If you are unsure of your eligibility, review the eligibility requirements, at Thrivent.com/Thrivent Choice All members 16 and older can vote during spe-cific Voting Events to help determine where Thrivent Financial distributes $1 million among Lutheran and non-Lutheran charitable organizations. If you have questions, you can speak with Liz Ziebarth or Donna Ta-ranto.

MIDWIFE KIT SUPPLIES NEEDED: During the summer is a great time to check out the garage sales and store sales for items to donate for the midwife kits that are assembled in the fall. We could always use bars of ivory soap, thin towels and wash clothes and size 3-6 month onesies. If you come across these items, please consider donating them to the church for the making of the midwife kits. You can bring any donations to the church office. Thanks!
EYE GLASS UPDATE: A very big thank you to all in the congregation who have already turned in eye glasses for LWML's MOST Ministries project. The first box is packed and ready to go. As you get new eye glasses, we hope you remember to drop your old ones off in our box. Your donation will help many in other developing countries to be able to see and enjoy a better life. Such a small effort on our part can be life chang-ing to someone else. We are excited and thankful for your wonderful response. Serving the Lord with Glad-ness.

Here’s the details: If you’d like to share your servant heart this Christmas, how about ringing the bells with a big “Merry Christmas” at a Salvation Army Kettle? This could include a family if you'd like to ring with your children OR confirmation kids with their parents could earn some servant hours :) All equipment will be at the location when you arrive (stand, kettle, bells, sign, etc.). All volunteers need to do is show up, smile and have a great time ringing. A friendly Merry Christmas to shoppers goes a long way and cheery Christmas singing or dancing is welcome!
