The purpose of the UMW is as follows: The organized units of UNITED METHODIST WOMEN shall be a community of women whose PURPOSE is to know God and to experience freedom as whole persons through Jesus Christ; to develop a creative, supportive fellowship; and to expand concepts of mission through participation in the global ministries of the church.
Mon., April 11 - The Morning Circle will meet at 10:30am in the Community Room.
Tues., April 12 - The Evening Circle will meet at 7:00pm in the Wesley Room.
All ladies are invited to attend these meetings.

METHODIST MEN’S HARDWOOD COALS BBQ Mark your calendars for our delicious BBQ Buffet set for Saturday, April 9 from 11am to 7pm. The buffet will fea-ture BBQ, Baked Beans, Slaw, Rolls, Dessert and Drink for a cost of only $8 for adults, $4 for children ages 4-12 and children ages 3 and under eat for free. Carry-outs will be available through out the day. The Youth and Methodist Men would appreciate your support for their church related projects.

The George Elder Class will be going to Samaritan’s Purse in Boone on April 14. We will be taking Shoe Boxes for older children and teens. If anyone would like to fill and send a shoebox, we would be happy to take as many as possible. Please leave in the Church Office or the George Elder classroom by April 3.

Mission Trip Fundraising Opportunities ♥ A giving tree will be set up outside the
Wesley Room. One-time donations or weekly donations can be placed in the of-fering plate or given to the Church Office. Any and all donations are appreciated.
♥ Taste of the Church - April 24th Get your favorite recipes ready. Every-one bring your favorite covered dish. This will be by donation but consider $1 for each dish you taste. Bring your recipes and any others you would like published in an AUMC Cookbook. More infor-mation for the cost of the cookbooks and the time frame for submitting those reci-pes coming soon.
♥ Start saving your giveaway items for a yard sale which will be at the church in May. More information to follow in the next few weeks.
♥ We will be selling numerous types of plants that can be delivered to your home. Once flyers are here, we will place one on the bulletin board outside the Wesley Room and mission team members will each have them.
♥ We will also be selling hanging baskets
for Mother's Day.

As part of his Life of Influence project for school, Zach Krpejs will be collecting new col-oring books for the Oncology Dept. at St. Jude Children’s Hospital in TN. Collection boxes will be in the Narthex as well as by the Wesley Room. Collections will continue thru April 17. If you’d rather make a monetary donation, checks can be made out to AUMC and placed in the offering plate with Zach’s name or ‘Coloring Books’ written in the notes section.
~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ Alex McGavic will be going on a 5 week mis-sion trip to Sweden this summer thru the Cru Organization (Campus Crusades). He will be part of a team who will introduce the uncondi-tional love of Christ to the people of southern Sweden. If you would like to make a monetary donation to assist Alex with his trip, checks can be made out to AUMC and placed in the offering plate with Alex’ name written in the notes section.

Hopewell Elementary School was recognized as a recipient of a 2016 Lighthouse School Award. The Lighthouse Award is presented annu-
ally to schools that have furthered stu-dent achievement in innovative and creative ways and have nurtured a pos-itive and supportive school and com-munity climate. We would like to say congratulations to all of the staff of Hopewell Elementary School, but es-pecially our AUMC members who are on staff at HES: Sharon Harper, Principal; Christy Allen, Fourth Grade Teacher; and Lora Krpejs, Kindergarten Teacher.
