Pastoral Prayer & The Lord’s Prayer Lee Anderson Harris

Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name;Thy kingdom come, thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven.Give us this day our daily bread. And forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us. And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory forever. Amen.

Scripture Lesson Hebrews 12:18-29

Message Living Braver With Fear Ken Brown

Hebrews 11:1-3, 12:22-25 (CEB): Faith is the reality of what we hope for, the proof of what we don’t see. The elders in the past were approved because they showed faith. By faith we understand that the universe has been created by a word from God so that the visible came into existence from the invisible.

But you have drawn near to Mount Zion, the city of the living God, heavenly Jerusalem, to countless angels in a festival gathering, to the assembly of God’s firstborn children who are registered in heaven, to God the judge of all, to the spirits of the righteous who have been made perfect, to Jesus the mediator of the new covenant, and to the sprinkled blood that speaks better than Abel’s blood. See to it that you don’t resist the one who is speaking. If the people didn’t escape when they refused to listen to the one who warned them on earth, how will we escape if we reject the one who is warning from heaven?

“Faithless is he that says farewell when the road darkens.” - J.R.R. Tolkien

Gap BudgetIn February 2019, we shared news of an anticipated $225K gap in our operating budget. Although that news was difficult to share and to hear, we’re grateful for the way that so many of you responded to this need. We are happy to report that the Finance reforecast of the gap has closed to $66,400 primarily because of your generosity as well as some paid outstanding invoices. We are humbled by your willingness to ‘stand in the gap’, which allows us to continue to serve you, create new and fresh programming, and to continue to open our doors to the community. And although we still have some work to do to eliminate the gap, we are encouraged by your faithfulness and know that God has amazing things planned for Trinity!

Sanctuary UpdateThe new carpet is stunning! Thank you for being so “close” the last several weeks in services. It’s been good to get to know one another and to see the progress that’s being made. We anticipate that the Sanctuary will be completely done within the next few weeks with final carpet installation and replacement of flooring in the choir loft and dais. Looking good Trinity!

“Welcome one another, therefore, as Christ has welcomed you, for the glory of God.” –Romans 15:7

Trinity United Methodist Church, a regional church located in the heart of Denver, has a community mission and historic faith tradition dating back to 1859. Today the church offers welcoming and transforming experiences of worship and service, embracing the Christian message of love for all and upholding the value and uniqueness of each person.

Our inclusion knows no boundaries or conditions. Our intentional hospitality welcomes and values all of God’s people. We see the image of God in every human face. We welcome people of every race, ethnicity, and country of origin; gender identity, marital status, and sexual orientation; faith, culture, and language. We include people of all ages, levels of education, and physical and mental ability; socio-economic class, political affiliation, and life experience; shape, size, and appearance.

We are committed to becoming a more diverse congregation that reflects the composition of our metropolitan community, where members and visitors feel that their presence matters and diversity fosters meaningful and enriching participation. As we strive for deeper understanding of the sacred worth of each person and the holy nature of Christian community, we endeavor to turn our words into deliberate policies, practices, and natural acts of kindness.
