SCRIPTURE READING Psalm 42 p. 447

*CALL TO WORSHIP (from Psalms 62, 42)

L: For God alone our souls wait in silence, for our hope is from the Lord. P: Only God is our rock and our salvation; in him we shall not be shaken. L: Yet sometimes we say to God: “Why have you forgotten us?” P: Sometimes we cry out: “When shall we come and behold the face of

God?” L: Yet the Scriptures tell us: trust in the Lord at all times; pour out your hearts

before God. P: Yes, our trust is in the Lord. God is a sanctuary for us. L: Once God has spoken: that power and steadfast love belongs to God; P: Today we gather to experience that power and love in healing. L: Hope in God for healing! P: Hope in God, for we shall again praise him, our God and healer!

*HYMN #390 “O Savior in this Quiet Place”

*PRAYER OF CONFESSION Please take a moment to reflect and offer up to God your personal areas where you have brought brokenness and sin into the world.

LENTEN STUDY: THE PATH TO THE CROSS

Ray Vander Laan’s The Path to the Cross: Embracing Obedience and Sacrifice will be the subject of OPC’s 2020 Lenten

Study. Another outstanding entry in Vander Laan’s much loved DVD series filmed on-site in the Holy Land, this book highlights the tremendous love of the Lord for each of his followers and the

importance of developing our relationship with him. It is also packed with revealing details about the culture and customs of first-century life in Judea. Our five-session series begins on

Thursday, March 5th at 7pm in the Oak Room and continues on March 12, 19, 26, and April 2. We hope you will plan on

joining us! Please sign up on the Discipleship Bulletin Board and indicate if you wish to purchase a book ($5).

THE LINUS PROJECT

I, like many of you, have lots of crocheted and knitted blankets that I no longer use. I am collecting them for the veterans, and

would love any donations. At this point I have about seven. I talked to Bill Cecere, and they currently have 15 residents.

I will hold off on bringing them to him until I have that amount. My thought is that when residents transition to other living

arrangements they could take their blanket with them… something someone took the time to make would mean a lot, I think.

After Pastor Tedd’s Christmas Eve service ending with the Charlie Brown Christmas story, I could not stop thinking about the comfort of the blanket to

Linus… who came to the rescue for Charlie Brown.

If you have any blankets that are homemade, please call me at 352-4475. If you can’t bring them to church, I will pick them up.

Thank you! ~Barbara Pratt

ATTENTION OPC YOUTH: The Bible Study Group at Churchville-Chili High School is sponsoring a movie night on Friday evening, February 28th, from 6-10pm. It will be held at Churchville-Chili High School. All youth are welcome! Parents/guardians are welcome to stay for

the movie as well. Snacks will be served. Please email Jason or Samantha Tucker at [email protected] or see them at church with any questions you have.

SPAGHETTI DINNER FUNDRAISER The Men’s Bible Study group is holding a Spaghetti Dinner Fundraiser on Saturday, March 14th from 4:30-6:30pm.

In addition to being available for purchase at the door, tickets can also be purchased on each Sunday before and after the

worship service. See Dennis Dupree. Seniors — $8; Adults — $9; Children under 12 — $5.

Sight & Sound Theatre in Lancaster, PA has filmed its 2019 live performance of “Jesus” and will be showing it in local theatres April 7 (6:30pm), April 9 (6:30pm) and April 11 (12:55pm).
