During the last 15 years, there have been several at-tempts to break the “Driving to the highest altitude by car“ in different parts of the world. As the altitude has increased, the competition to keep this title has become stronger and more demanding. An important part of these attempts to break the world

record have been made in Chile, specifically in the same area where we are developing our expedition: the Ojos del Salado, on the border between Chile and Argentina and the highest volcano in the world. Other major attempts have been made in India, China, Nepal, Argentina and Russia.AAfter the successful expedition accomplished by a

German team and sponsored by Volkswagen, is that we deci-ded to retrieve this record in 2007.Combining our extensive experience in Off-Road and the

organization of expeditions, we made a low budget but suc-cessful expedition. Since then we still hold the current record, and this has not been beaten since April 2007.On the other hand, “Driving to the highest altitude by

ATV“ is a first time in history event, that is going to be at-tempted worldwide.

Magazines: Despite the minimum budget of our first expe-dition, we obtained great media coverage, with over 83 full pages and covers of major Off Road and car magazines in more than 20 countries.• Internet coverage in different specialized forums was very

important. Translated into several languages and present in vir-tually all sites of national newspapers and most of the cars and adventure’s websites and bulletin boards.• Television: The local news covered 1:30 min. broadcasted

by the main TV channel (Canal13). Additionally it went to air in various foreign news programs, although we do not have speci-fic records.• Newspaper: Regarding newspapers coverage, there were

publications with the El Mercurio of Santiago and the major re-gional and national newspapers.Meanwhile, the much more commercially oriented German

Expedition had a much ample media impact with hundreds of publications covering the event worldwide. There are many examples where the Brand sponsoring the

event becomes the content itself. If we do work together as a team with our sponsor Brand name, we can turn this High Alti-tude expedition in a full Marketing and commercial Campaign.

The vehicle chosen is under the same concept used in the previous expedition, but we made significant changes to improve the performance for site-specific routes:1.- The original engine was replaced for a bigger one, with factory turbo set up. Raising the horsepower by 120% and the torque by 200%.2.- The drivetrain was replaced to match the new power levels obtaining a crawling ratio of 90:1 with and automatic transmission.3.- A chassis mounted roll cage was built.

- This modi- This modifications kept the same successful concept; a light, flexible and powerful car. –

The route is the same as the previous expedition (next page), which guarantees a thorough knowledge of it. However, to achieve the new level proposed it will be necessary to extend the original route and do a flyover to assess the various options and define the most affordable.

LikeLike the previous expedition, and to ensure an optimal level of physical performance, we will follow a plan of acclimatization in the central Andes during the previous two months at altitudes exceeding 4,000 meters. In parallel, we will develop different training climbs in the vehicles.

InIn parallel, we will perform different training climbs in the vehicles. In order to avoid sleeping at altitudes of 5,000 m, and considering the facilities near the place, we will settle a base camp at the "Claudio Lucero“ refugee, located some 30 km from the base of the volcano, at 4.600 meters.
