The 2019 poster was designed by the Standards and Calibration Laboratory,
Hong Kong, China.
• 18 languages (WMD poster was translated)

WMD - Future plans
We are exploring possibilities (together with the OIML) with the UNESCO Secretariat for a proclamation of 20 May as World Metrology Day by UNESCO. Feasibility of the proposal will be discussed at the
UNESCO IBSP meeting in November 2019.

Exploring co‐sponsorship of the proposal by the BIPM and OIML from their respective members.
Has to be taken forward by (at least a few) Member States of both organizationsFebruary 2020 Proposal on WMD: 20 May is submitted by the UNESCO Member States to the next session of UNESCO
Executive Board to be held in April 2020 (or to the later sessions in October 2020 or April 2021).
UNESCO Executive Board asks UNESCO Secretariat to conduct a feasibility study to ensure the proposalis realistic and supported.
April 2020 UNESCO Executive Board adopts the Decision recommending the General Conference to decide toproclaim at its 41st session 20 May of every year as WMD.
November 2021 The Resolution proclaiming 20 May of every year as WMD is adopted at the 41st session of theUNESCO General Conference.
