Academic Topics

Attendance is important, esp. on the block system!

Every student should come prepared to participate in class every day (book, composition book, parallel novel, paper, writing utensil).

Active participation in classroom instruction is the best way to learn and retain the curriculum.

Students will have vocabulary and unit assessments regularly throughout the semester.

We are currently working on the semester research assignment. It is due on January 31st.

Students will have homework regularly, but only as an extension of daily agenda items that are not completed.

If your student works diligently then homework is minimal.

Grading System

Grades are divided into Common Core Literacy categories as listed in the syllabus.

Small assessments (quizzes, some projects) occur on a regular basis and are worth approx. 15 – 50 pts.

Larger test assessments occur at the end of each major unit.
