    Henry wanted a marriage for political reasons,to form an Alliance between English Protestantsand German Protestants

    Hired a painter to find him a potential ally andpaint the women who could make it possible He chose Anne of C leves

    She was so unattractive however, Henrydivorced her he called her Flanders Mare

    Married her only 16 days after his divorce toAnne he was 49, she was 19

    They were ill-matched, he was gaining a lot of weight, and had an ulcerated leg she was hisrose without a thorn

    Executed because he believed she had relationswith another man before their marriage, whichcontinued after their marriage

    There is no knownportrait that has ever

    been positively identifiedas K athryn Howard. Thisminiature was identifiedas K athryn in the 1840s,but has never beenconfirmed.

    They think its K athryn, based on the necklace,which belonged to Jane Seymour. It would havebeen part of the Queens Jewels.
