I General I

Hyosung is the leading supplier of the power transformer industry. Starting with the development of the 154kV high-voltagetransformer in 1969, Hyosung introduced the 345kV and the 765kV transformers subsequently for the first time in thecountry, and the sixth in the world. Hyosung’s power transformers are designed to withstand all environmental hazards.In the rated power range up to 2000MVA and operating voltage up to 765kV, these transformers have off-load or on-load tapchangers to adapt them to various network conditions. Design Concept of Hyosung Transformer

Hyosung transformers guarantee dielectric strength to withstand impulse voltage thanks to high-technology designwhich ensures low capacitance between winding and the ground and proper coordination of insulating materialand solves creepage problem.

Dielectric Strength

Heat generated from coils which form electric circuit inside the transformer andheat from iron cores form magnetic circuit and is transmitted to insulating oil. Heattransmitted to insulating oil radiates to the air through the cooler. Cooling effect isvery important as it is directly linked to insulation life and the capacity of thetransformer. Hyosung’s transformers lay emphasis on improving coolingperformance and regulating temperature of the hottest spots by using an effectivecooling system.

Thermal Capability

Reliability of transformers manufactured by Hyosung is excellent because ofwinding and tank design which distributes mechanical force evenly in case ofshort circuit and supports short-circuit strength effectively.

Mechanical Strength

Hyosung’s transformers are designed and manufactured through verification from the design stage usingdesign program, electromagnetic field analysis program, and structural analysis program.

Structure

Core is layered on step-by-step to maximize space ratio, which enables theassembling to minimize core loss, exciting current and noise. In addition, themost effective core structure is applied depending on whether the transformeris core form or shell form.

01 _Core

Transformer enclosure is manufactured with sufficient strength to protectinternal structures, preserve insulating oil and withstand internal pressureduring failures. Tank should be furnished with manhole or hand-hole in anappropriate location for convenient inspection and repair as well as equipmentand accessories to help move and handle transformer with ease.

02 _Tank

Winding is the key part making up transformer’s electric circuit. Hyosung’s transformers apply the most effectivewiring method for core form and shell form using rectangular wire or CTC (Continuously TransposedConductor).Also, the key process of winding is carried out in the dust-proof clean room with temperature and humiditycontrol. The clean room with NAS 100,000 grades is one of the main factors that guarantee the quality ofHyosung’s power transformers.
