Centre for Green Building Materials and Technology conducted its ‘Bamboo Application Technology’

(BAT) Courses Annual day, together with a celebration of World Bamboo Day on 18th September 2012.

Over 200 members comprising of students of architecture and design faculties, professionals in the

fields of architecture, product design, civil engineering, eco-tourism and hospitality sectors

Exhibition Inaugurated by Chief Guest, I.V. Ramanuja Rao; the exhibition “Exploring Bamboo” showcased Bamboo

architectural projects, bamboo furniture, products etc - by BAT students and trainees of Manasaram

Architects. Also on display were furniture by product designer, Sandeep Sangaru, and a Bamboo Art

Installation by artist, Shanthamani Muddiah.

Workshops

Introducing Bamboo: A Creativity Workshop for children conducted by Artist Shantamani Muddiah and organized by CGBMT

volunteer and trainee at Manasaram Architects, Akif Pathan.

Almost 40 children attended the workshop from Amrutha Public School, Amruthahalli.

Experiencing Bamboo: An interactive hands-on workshop for Students, Architects, Engineers and Designers to work with

bamboo.

Ar. Neelam Manjuanath gave an introductory presentation-lecture on Bamboo as a building material.

Conducted by Sagar Shirude together with Mrs. Indrani and Mr. Samrat of ‘Ken and Bambooz’ the 2011-

2012 batch BAT Certificate Course graduates assisted in teaching and demonstrating joinery techniques.

The objective was to build a gazebo and children’s jungle-gym. Students learnt to work with bamboo,

proper use of tools on bamboo and practiced various types of joinery.

The workshop was attended by over 80 students and young professionals from B.M.S. college of

Engineering, Srishti School of Design, Sathya Consultants, Jaisim-Foutainhead etc.
