Takeaways
• Structure your approach to job applications
• Measure your applications’ performance
• Do NOT carpet bomb
• Use tools & document your activities
• Get professional help if required
![Page 25: Workshop: Leibniz Universität, Hannover](https://reader036.fdocuments.us/reader036/viewer/2022062820/58aca8b21a28ab08588b4e59/html5/thumbnails/25.jpg)
©INTRVU CONSULTING 25
Curriculum Vitae / Resume is the MOST important document!
• CV should be the meat of your application• Could be longer• Only include relevant information• Do NOT use standard templates• 95% of candidates use Europass CV
format
• But• CV is a backward-looking document• Include a cover letter (forward-looking)
![Page 26: Workshop: Leibniz Universität, Hannover](https://reader036.fdocuments.us/reader036/viewer/2022062820/58aca8b21a28ab08588b4e59/html5/thumbnails/26.jpg)
©INTRVU CONSULTING 26
Your CV helps you progress through the various stages
• It is important to profile your CV
• Does your CV match the criteria mentioned in the job description?• Else, your CV will not be picked by the ATS
![Page 27: Workshop: Leibniz Universität, Hannover](https://reader036.fdocuments.us/reader036/viewer/2022062820/58aca8b21a28ab08588b4e59/html5/thumbnails/27.jpg)
©INTRVU CONSULTING 27
Your CV should be designed for the ‘long haul’
• CV should be picked by the ATS• Use automated CV parsing software• Histograms, Machine learning
Algorithms, etc. (Analytics software)
Machines
• CVs should appear professional to the human reader
• Audit for aesthetics, grammar, brevity, rhetoric, flow, etc.
Humans
![Page 28: Workshop: Leibniz Universität, Hannover](https://reader036.fdocuments.us/reader036/viewer/2022062820/58aca8b21a28ab08588b4e59/html5/thumbnails/28.jpg)

But, overcoming the machine is NOT sufficient
• Your documents should be well formatted• Should showcase you as a professional
• Content should match the job requirements• Be attractive to machines AND humans!
• Subscribe to our YouTube! Channel• Number of videos on CV formatting!• All for free!• More content (coming soon)
![Page 30: Workshop: Leibniz Universität, Hannover](https://reader036.fdocuments.us/reader036/viewer/2022062820/58aca8b21a28ab08588b4e59/html5/thumbnails/30.jpg)
©INTRVU CONSULTING 30
Why should you include a Cover letter?
• Your formal introduction
• The first read, it can make or break your entry
• A ‘must’ with your CV
• Should be brief and interesting
• Should not be a carbon copy of your CV
• Should highlight what you’ll bring to the job
• Should be job specific
The goal is to get an interview!
![Page 31: Workshop: Leibniz Universität, Hannover](https://reader036.fdocuments.us/reader036/viewer/2022062820/58aca8b21a28ab08588b4e59/html5/thumbnails/31.jpg)

knowledge (industry+company),• High degree of certainty of your plans
• MATURITY & CONFIDENCE• No wishy-washy language, no “maybe”, no “if
you like me” messages: no hesitation!• However, no bragging, no declarations
• PROFESSIONALISM• Prep work: write down your “advantages” (why
are YOU different from others?)• State about quality of your education (schools),
achievements, background (with a link to the needs/nature of business of the company)
• ADAPTABILITY & GROWTH• Are you are a fast learner? A hard-worker?• Can you be entrusted with responsibility?
