MARGARET SEXTON [email protected] NSF CREST CENTER FOR THE INTEGRATED STUDY OF COASTAL ECOSYSTEM PROCESSES AND DYNAMICS UNIVERSITY OF MARYLAND EASTERN SHORE PRINCESS ANNE, MD 21853 NATIONAL SCIENCE FOUNDATION GRANT NO. 1460791 Teachers from Wicomico, Somerset and Worcester counties or local teachers with daily transportation to the University of Maryland Eastern Shore (UMES) are invited to participate in a paid, two-week on-campus workshop to gain tools to create lesson plans, educational and/or lab activities in environmental science. Participating teachers will have the opportunity to learn from and work with faculty in the NSF CREST-CISCEP and NOAA LMRCSC programs at UMES. Participants will participate in several follow-up sessions throughout the year to evaluate the lesson plans produced in the workshop and assess the effectiveness of the program. The workshop is guided by the Center’s Education and Outreach Coordinator, Patricia Goslee, Ed.D. and is funded by the National Science Foundation. COASTAL MARINE SCIENCES WORKSHOP FOR TEACHERS (CMARS) INCENTIVES Teachers will receive a stipend and lunch during the workshop and either. Program staff can sign-off on continuing education or professional development credits if needed. WHEN The workshop will run from July 10-21, 2017, and follow-up sessions will occur during the following academic year.
