Hungry Miss Blackbird

Is flying through the air

When she sees a piece of cheese

On an old wooden chair.

A fox sees Miss Blackbird

With the cheese in her beak.

As he’s very hungry now

To Miss Blackbird he must speak.

Can you dance Miss Blackbird?

Oh yes Fox, look and see.

Can you stand on just one leg?

Oh yes, hey look at me!

You’re clever and you’re pretty,

You’re a fantastic bird.

Miss Blackbird is very happy

With Mister Fox’s words.

Such a beautiful bird,

It’s a pity you can’t sing.

Oh, yes I can, she says,

I can do that very thing.

She opens her beak

And her song comes out

But the cheese falls down

Into Mister Fox’s mouth!
