FEVR objectives

To promote assistance to road victimsat international level and in Europe.

To work for prevention of crashes androad danger reduction

To strengthen contactsand collaboration betweenroad victim associationsfrom the various countries.


Very few governments have committed themselves duringthe 25 years of FEVR existence to improve the situation ofvictims and also have largely failed to enforce road trafficlaws in a sustainable way.

Victim organisations have beenmoved to fill the void left bygovernment failures.

The steep rise in road traffic injuries.Victims were left completely neglectedand without assistance or help.

Victims suffered twice whenthe legal process offered noreal justice.


To offer support and help to road crashvictims through member associations

To contribute to road safety by highlighting roaddanger and the causes of crashes in order toinfluence institutions and authorities towardsimplementing and enforcing road safety measuresfar more effectively.

In 2001, the European Parliament approved a Resolution on a2002-2010 European road safety programme, including mostof the proposals made by FEVR, in particular increased controlson speed and alcohol limits, regular road safety meetings,improved assistance to victims.

Conducted a first-ever study, co-founded bythe European Commission:

The findings: the impact is profound and long-lasting, with serious economic consequencesfor countries.
