Learning objectives
To review the main reasons why people should vote and support and volunteer in their local council.
To build skill in tackling an exam question that requires explanation.

Create a policy suggestion for making life better in Peacehaven. Write it on your whiteboard.

Vote for your favourite policy – not your own one though.
How to answer an exam question and get top marks.
At the beginning of the exam you don’t know what the questions will be.
Prestructural
You are then given the question and the marks you will get for it:
Explain why it is important to vote in elections.
[8 marks]
What is the command word?
What is the topic?
If the answer is worth 8 marks how much are you going to write and in how much detail?
Unistructural
Create a key word list with definitions:
Multistructural
On each hexagon write down a main point that will answer the question, i.e. write down a reason why people should vote.
Relational
Create each paragraph one at a time.
Each hexagon with a reason why we should vote will be your paragraph topic. Create three hexagons which give more detail about it and one with a supporting example.

For example
Write the paragraph out in your book.
Link what you have written back to the question.This shows that...
Repeat this process for paragraphs three to four.
Extended abstract
Give detailed and up to date examples.Or to extend your work to A or A* work add arguments for and against the point that you have made, integrate it with related topics such as human rights and law and order. Compare it with an alternative system.
