Animal Production Food Safety - OIE objectives
• Consider all food hazards of animal origin before
slaughter and primary processing of products
• Emphasis on measures applicable at farm level
• Ensure food safety is taken note of in all OIE work
• Consider other standard setting bodies’ work
(cooperation with Codex)

Objectives of OIE Regional Commissions
• The main objective of each OIE RegionalCommission is to tackle specific problemsrelevant to the veterinary services and establishcooperation between these services at theregional level to improve the quality of VeterinaryServices in accordance with the OIE standards
• An other objective is to strenghten intersectoral collaborations at the regional level between thenational VS and other sectors involved in Public Health and Animal Health with the coordination of international and/or regional agencies

The Role of OIE Regional Commissions - APFS
• In collaboration with each relevant OIE Regional Representation, the OIE Regional Commissions can assist Veterinary Services to elaborate basic elements such as :– National sanitary standards for food production;– National standard for good animal farming
practices;– Legislation dedicated to Animal Production Food
