Page 1: Work Flow 2

The newxt stage of work is the IBD(Inside Building) i.e. the work from street cabinet to the Building where connection is to be given. The cable used to connect the SC to the Telecom Box(TB) in the Building. For this purpose mainly 144F cable is used. If more than one building has to be served from the same SC the instead of drawing a cable the cable already drawn is terminated at some point in between and a JC is introduced there. Then a few cores are separated from the rest and drawn to the other building and the original cable then goes towards the initial building.

Once the cable reaches the building the cable starts climbing the building towards the upper floors. The cable used for this climbing is called Breakout Cable. So either a 12F or 24F cable is used for climbing. In the shaft of the building a Telecom Box (TB) is Installed. The cable joining the break out cable to the TB is either a 24 Armoured or Unarmoured cable.

Telecom Box (TB)

A TB is a sort of a cabinet where the following articles are kept.

1. ONT with 4 ports installed by the Provisioning team2. Patch Cord3. SPLX4. 24F splice tray5. 1FDB6. 4 or 2 pin USP or 1.5 amp usp which acts as a battery to the ONT and takes power fron an EB of

Sterlite installed with the meters on the ground floor.7. Power Cable (EB-TB-UPS)

In a typical G+3 building only one TB is Installed on the ground floor. If the building has more floors then TB is installed on the 1st,3rd,5th… etc. floors according to the plan of the Build dept. Incase of opposition to the Installation of TB by residents then a deviation Note is raised and then the TB is installed on another floor.

Provisioning/ Home Drop.

Cable connection from ONT to Inside of homed is called home drop and is done by the provisioning team. For this CAT5 E Cable which has copper cores is used. Othe materials used are:

Router 2 RJ plugs one connecting to the ONT and one to the router.

Cable used in the whole process should never run naked. It should be covered by:

HDPE Duct- Used in OSP and IBD Flexible pipe which comes in the dimensions of 20mm; 25mm; 40mm - Used in Provisioning OSP

and IBD PVC Conduit the dimensions of 25mm; 40mm - Used in IBD and Provisioning

Infrastructure In Ahmadabad

In Ahmadabad all structures served are G+3 Shops. Therefore from the street cabinet a cable is directly dropped to the shop and he ONT id installed in the shop. There are no TB’s. 1F cable is used. Incase the shop is not yet built the cable is dropped upto the entrance of the shop because Sterlite has a contract with the builder for providing services to the whole retail space exclusively.
