WBL needs to be viewed as an enhancement to curriculum, rather than traditional ‘alternative curriculum’ promotion

Post 16 Work Based Learning Offer
Skillbuild –Very flexible programme for learners requiring occupational skills learning (levels 1-3) and/or who are uncertain of their career aims. Course length adapted to learner’s needs, minimum 13 weeks
Foundation Apprenticeship - Employed status. Set apprenticeship framework per occupational route based around NVQ L2 . Up to two years. Entry requirements vary depending on occupational route.
Apprenticeship - As per FA but up to NVQ Level 3
Higher Modern Apprenticeship/Modern Skills Diploma – Employed status. Up to L4 NVQ.
16-17 years olds not in Education, Training or Employment are guaranteed a training place via the local Careers Service Office.
