About The Author

Hi, you're reading this section because you want to know a little bit

more about me. Well the first place to start is my name, Esjae isn't

my real name, quite obviously, it's actually Stacey Hubbard. The

shortened version is the extended version of my initials 'SJ'

My passion for poetry comes from one very memorable English Lesson in year 9, we were meant to

be watching a modern film version of Romeo and Juliet. But I just couldn't get into it (Ms Bailey

would kill me), so I ended up writing - 'Hood Up, Head Down' my first ever poem! Ever since then my

passion for writing and poetry has just grown and I write whenever I get the chance.

Your breath on my neck

Our lips pressed together

A feeling I cant describeEvery time your eyes meet mine

I fall deeper in love,

With your smile, with the blue in your eyes

I dont need to search anymore

Because standing in front of my door

Is my knight, my Mr. Right

With so many fish in the sea,

I didnt realise how easy it would be,

To find someone perfect for me

On my mind twenty four seven

My new found heaven

A future life

I long to be called your wife

A Feeling No One Can Miss

Walking hand in hand

Strolling side by side

I stare into your eyes

Met by your longing gaze

Its a feeling that you cant missGreeted by your kiss

Just to be with you

Is all Id ever want to do

A Girls Love Isnt a Toy

If I dont come first and you think of me last

Then you should know for sure that Im becoming your past

Think of it this way,

Buying diamonds and pearls isnt the key to my heartSaying tender words is the way to make me stay

Pushing me from left to right is only going to make me want to part

I should be your all and everything

Not one in a string of meaningless flings

Words arent always enough

You should remain by my side even when things start to get tough

Think of this as real love

Someone youre proud of

An angel sent to you from above

Love never fades

You shouldnt feel the need to upgrade

Everything you ever want should be in front of you

Or you shouldnt say those three words, 'I love you'

I want you too

People say were just like two love birds

But I need to be your only girl

The only one youre thinking of at nightThe only one you want to be holding tight

A girls love isnt a toy

Its something you should enjoy

Shes someone you should cherish

If you don't you love will only perish

A Grain Of Rice

Dying in Africa

We say were starving

The lost their life, just fighting for a grain of rice

Supermarkets scatter the streets

Imagine days on your feetAll for a grain of rice

Doctors on our doorstep

Think of dragging a loved one for miles around

In the hope that help will be found

Live a day in their life

And itll be easy

Im not starving are you?

A Life Lost

The bullet from the gun

Lays still in your chest

Your face cold and alone

This war isnt something that we can condonePromises that it will be all right

Tell me when there wont be a need to fight

So many lives are lost

Bodies lying alone and forgotten

This war has such a big cost

Please enlighten me

To why these lives have the key

Isnt there another way for us to plea?

For you to lie so still

And for me to watch your blood spill

All for them to rewrite history

The reasons will always remain a mystery

Although youll be remembered as a hero

Your story written in The Metro

Your Name unknown

Your life lost in a war zone

Shivering

Scratching at your skin

As if trying to let it in

Mind buzzing

Unable to focusEyes darting

Living like a dog

And then it comes

Sharp and powerful

A jolt of life into your body

How long will it last

Your heroin fix

Friends come and go

Just like the waves of the sea

Creating a web of lies

Is that the way life is meant to be?Your muffled cries

Ignored by those who are meant to care

Laying motionless in a ditch

And all they are able to say is,

Aint life a bitch?

Lets sit down

Talk it out

Work it out

Theres a future in me and youCan you see it too?

Aint no other way

Than to say I love you

They dont understand what we go through

We got to have this heart to heart

So that we wont part

We fight

We break up

But still its alright

I think that this could be a sign

That you are meant to be mine

And that were meant to be together

Walking alone

Disappearing into the shadows

Hidden from view

All you can see is the broken smile

Crystal tears

Is this how anyone should live?

I was supposed to be your girl

The one you grace with diamonds and pearls

I swore to never hurt you

With each lie that comes Im waiting for the rest

If this is what love is supposed to be

Then this isnt what I want, not you and me

Let's go back to the days when we first met

The days I really want to forget

People say things they dont mean

But I know what Ive seen

We can make up after a fight

But not this time, were not going to be alright

Lets be honest

Oh wait, lets go back a minute youve already broken that promise

Im fed up of trying to put my life back together

Especially when you said wed last forever

Chocolate, sweets and treats

Falling from the sky

The sound of childrens laughter

Right into the distance

This is how it used to be

Guns, knives and violence

From the hands of teenagers

The sound of victims screams

Right into the distance

This is what its turning to be

The time is changing

The sound is changing

The lives are ending

Crying For Help

The streets are littered with so many teenage pregnancies

Along with many other dangers and obscenities

Knives and guns carried for pride

Cars not owned, just used while on a joyrideLives filled with drama

Police head to foot in armour

The people you hang with is a statement

Flowers and crying eyes a constant reminder of the bereavement

Pouring into the street day after day

A society crying for help

Instead sent into a shock everyday

As another town is on its own

Directed By Our Dreams

Theres you and me

We all strive to be the best that we can be

Different but so similar

We all want to be lovedWe all need to be needed

Full of ambition

Directed by our dreams

You cant change who you are

Its time to raise the bar

Its time to succeed

And exceed all expectation

Without confrontation an contemplation

Fulfil your dreams

To every possible extreme

I wish you could see

That what is happening to you isnt right

Each time you forgive and forget

I live with regret

You are worth so much moreOne day you will open your closed eyes

And Im reminded of your pain

Stars are falling

Everyday my heart is calling,

I know I acted dumb

And now my heart is numbIm trying to figure out a way

To make you understand that,

Met you at eleven

Just like Cinderella

Had to leave at twelveMy prince charming

Its been a year or so

And in that time my thoughts of you continue to grow

It must be fate that theres a second time for us to meet

When I do I hope you dont forget it

Because its taken just over a year or so

Making footprints on your heart

Is just like walking on untouched snow

Taking baby steps, until we can watch our love grow

Youll always be more than and nothing lessThan I could have asked for

The blue sky surrounds me

Since the day that you found me

No bed or food

Not trusted with any responsibility

Roaming the street

Trying to survive in the extreme heat

With one companion, mans best friend

Just to live, every law he has to bend

Plodding across the ground

Face mysterious

The misunderstood frown

We are done

But lets not be forgetting

All the memories

And the making of the melodiesWeve had our fair share of

Arguments, fighting and fussing

You take a step forward

But Im quite happy staying back here in the past

I might be blind

But baby understand

With all of our memories

I might sit up all night

But its not the daily fights that stay on my mind

Remember how we used to be

But I guess the world just got in the way

Every day you had to work really late

Dont stereotype me

Dont try and blame them on me

Decide what path their going to take

What laws their going to break

Nobody will force the weapon in their hand

Dont be blaming us for all the controversies

Im at college everyday

Have I taken drugs? No never

Dont judge what you dont understand

Thats why Im making a stand and raising my stand

For me, its you that I need

Love is overrated

In the end its only your feelings that will be obliterated

My feelings are left stranded at the door

Yet Im still left wanting moreI cant get it into my head

That what we had began and ended in your bed

Youre turning me into a whore

Because our love is becoming a chore

I might well be poor

It was your love that I needed to make me rich

Go ahead, keep cursing my name

We both know that wont make me your bitch

Sleeping around is how you got your fame

But somehow I got it into my head that your soul I would be able to tame

Im working day and night

To reach a new height

Each day the bar is raised

All Im asking for is some praise

I need a wish, Im on my knees ready to prey

Hoping that tomorrow will be my day

Meaningless

It never crossed my mind

That I could be unwanted by so many

That what I feel could be so meaningless

If I said what was in my head

Then you would care even lessI didnt realize this was such a big mess

Now I dont feel afraid of any of this

I know Im different and you dont like it

But if you want to know me, youll have to understand me

Im never going to change

And because of that no words will be exchanged

Everything will stay the same

Except I now know who I am inside

Whether thats who I am, or the one I show

Im just trying to let you know

I know I made the right choice

Writing my fist name with your last making me youre Mrs

Every day I cant wait for one of your kisses

You light up my life when things get darkOur fingers intertwined strolling around the park

If the day turns to night, Ill love you by candlelight

When our eyes met I knew my heart was sold

Together were going to make a teen love story with a happy ending
