Ideate on problems that could be solved by a mobile application.Define the problem your application is trying to solve, and your ideal user.

“WooZoo! (or WZ!) Is an educational companion App for those trips to the Zoo. The app is focused on children and uses a colorful interface to guide them through their outing at the zoo. Giving information on the animals that includes their natural habitat, as well as their behaviors and interactions. Along with their location in the chosen zoo, this app is an essential companion for any young zoologist.”

Summary

04

Problem:

There are many apps created to guide the educational experience. Museums like the Smithsonian and Organizations such as NASA use applications to educate a growing mind with an added digital experience that can be useful on its own, but is enhanced with a physical visit. The one educational location that is usually left out of this venture is the national Zoo. Sure, there are a handful of zoos that dedicate the time to creating a useable app, but these are often used just for advertisement, containing simple information such as hours and special events, or just a simple digital version of their paper maps. These apps are also widely outdated, having been made in the height of the app boom as a quick advertising solution. There is a need for more in an app such as this, something that is useable both out and inside of the zoo and that is continually updated with relevant information.

Solution:

My app will provide all that is missing in an application created for the zoo.I t is meant to serve as an interactive guide for families taking a trip to the zoo. Maps, news, an event finder, and most importantly, interactive wikis for each animal exhibit will be present all inside one app, making it a convinient reference. It will serve to give a fun, Interactive, and educational experience to a family’s outing to the zoo. Both the parent and the child will use this application to establish information about the animals present in the zoo. It also serves as a map outlining the zoo grounds (Including lunch areas, gift shops and shows). As apart of a partnership program, it is compatible will most major zoos across America such as the Bronx Zoo in New York, the Lincoln Park Zoo in Illinois, and the Los Angeles Zoo in California.

Proposed Problems To Be Solved: Main problem to be solved:

Relieving the stress and confusion that some zoo outings can cause.Other Problems to be solved:

Missing zoo showsGetting lost and not being able to find your group

Difficult to find locationsUnable to find close restrooms and rest areas

Final Concept:

The final concept for WooZoo! Incorporates a clean interface that is simple to navigate. It includes visuals that will attract children and their parents alike. As apart of the final solution, the digital prototype of WooZoo! features useful tools that will help a family during their zoo outing. The digital ticket allows for an easy entrance, while the guide will help in outlining their entire day. The discover option lets children to play around with the app, giving them instant information about a chosen animal without the need to use the ZooQR scanner. Overall, The final concept for WooZoo! Helps the consumer in their outing, focusing on common annoyances and needs that may come up on their visit.

Final Outcome:

All of the exercises helped to successfully plan out and eventually wrap up the technical and visual design of the application. The paper prototypes and wireframes, though done in the earliest stages, were very helpful in deciding the direction of the application. Without the personas and storyboard, there would have been a very vague idea as to the user of the application. Knowing when and who would be using the application really helped to focus on the important aspects of the app. The successful design in the final outcome of the application shows that these steps are essential in designing the interface and mechanics of a mobile application.
