Two-day string workshop and concert

May 20th and May 21st 2015

Rock & Pop music phenomenon that “Electrifies” a school orchestra program

How does my child prepare?

Prepare like any orchestra concert! Come to lessons prepared by practicing.

Visit Mrs. Klicker’s teacher webpage. Your will find EYS link to listen and practice with string recordings

Day 1wednesday, may 20

High School Schedule

Rehearse from 8:30-9:45 a.m.

at the high school

Day 1wednesday, may 20

Junior High (Academy and Junior High)

Rehearse at the High School from 10:00-11:15 a.m.

Transportation and lunch will be provided.

All Academy students will be a provided brown bag lunch at the High School.

Day 1wednesday, may 20

Elementary Students (Beginners and Intermediates)

Students will have brown bag lunch at their school

Students will ride a bus to the high school

12:00 - 1:30 p.m. - Intermediate rehearsal

1:45-2:30 p.m. - Beginner rehearsal

2:45 - Ride bus back to their school for dismissal (except Academy)

Students are to keep their instruments and music at their school.

What to expect on day 1?

Students will rehearse with Bridgid Bibbons. Music teachers will be present to assist with rehearsal

EYS songs, and opportunity to improvisation, enhance self expression

She is fully versed in the innovative methods and techniques created by Mark Wood (seen in the video) and she brings her own unique style and energy to the rehearsals and concerts!

Who is Bridgid bibbons?

She graduated with a bachelor’s and master’s music education degree from Syracuse University and joined Mark Wood’s EYS program in 2007

As a classical trained violinist and Viper player

Bridgid has performed with major artists in the rock, pop and jazz worlds, such as the Trans-Siberian Orchestra, Christina Aguilera, Robin Thicke, Tommy Lee (Motley Crue), Gilby Clarke (Guns 'N' Roses), Johnny Colt (the Black Crowes), Mary J Blige, Jay-Z, John Mayer, Alicia Keys, Josh Groban, and Harry Connick, Jr.

DAY 2thursday, May 21

All Elementary and J.H. students will ride a bus to the high school and rehearse with Bridgid from 1:00-4:00

Dinner will be provided from 4:30-5:45

Students tune and warm-up 6:00-6:30

Concert starts! Beginners, Intermediates, Combined Junior High, High School, and Combined Finale

Concert will be approximately 1 hour 30 minutes. Following the concert -Bridgid will be signing autographs, EYS merchandise booth, Woodland Hills Foundation Booth, Brighton Music Booth

concert Attire?

No traditional concert attire, this is a rock concert!

Students are allowed to wear jeans and any color top and bottom. Please follow the school district dress code. No spaghetti straps or inappropriate clothing.

1. Drop off payment and paper copy of ad in person to orchestra teacher

How can you help to make this program a HuGE success?

•Spread the word and invite family and friends to the Electrify Your Strings Concert!

• All parents have the opportunity to help raise funds for the orchestra program by asking a local business/organization to submit an ad for the concert program.

• Family and friends are invited to the Buffalo Wild Wings Orchestra Fundraiser on April 1st (Day ads are due)

PARENT volunteers

Keep Bridgid’s autograph line organized after the concert - 4 volunteers

Sell tickets on May 21st before the concert around 6:00 p.m. - 4 volunteers

Set-up the EYS merchandise table before the concert and help sell the items after the concert - 4 volunteers

Hang EYS posters in community in mid-April - 20 volunteers

Contact and organize news for PR - 1 volunteer

Help with carpooling a student(s) after the concert. One parent from each elementary school. - 6-8 volunteers
