Trees provide us with more than 5,000 products that people use every day

From photographic film to paints and from toothpaste to tires, tree-based chemicals and other wood by-products are all around us

They provide shade, oxygen, fruit, nuts and wood products such as paper, furniture and housing etc

WOOD RECYCLING

The process by which clean waste wood, containing no contaminants or hazardous materials such as glue, lead paint, asbestos or creosote, are ground into chips and used to make new products

Tree branches, stumps, pallets and clean scrap wood from construction sites are all examples of clean waste wood

WOOD CRUSHER

The crusher reduces the wood from its original size to two inch long splinters

THERMAL PROCESS Gets mixed with hot gases

and other molecules Once heated they are

condensed and it is repeated again and again till it becomes light

That way the wood generates enough hydrocarbon gases to maintain the system in auto-combustion

SEPERATION STEP

Here the carbon is separated from the other minerals

The clean carbon is packed into airtight big-bags of 800 kg, while the other minerals are put into metallic drums.

BENEFITS OF RECYCLING

Reduces cutting of new trees

Preserves the forest habitat of many birds and animals

Reduces the incidence of soil erosion

Reduces landfill space

Increases job in economy

What can we do

now???

Page 15: Wood recycling

Using less paper is a great way to help save our ancient forests. Here are some ways that you can use less paper:

Write on both sides of every piece of paper try to use scratch paper or half sheets whenever possible

Put a cloth napkin in your backpack, purse, or lunch pail and use it instead of paper napkins

Page 16: Wood recycling

Take a canvas bag to the grocery store instead of using paper bags

Use cloth towels at home to clean up spills instead of paper towels and use real cups and plates instead of paper ones

100% post-consumer recycled paper

A fourth way we can use less wood is to build our homes beautiful, inexpensive earth-friendly, homes
