From the President. . .

Our events are well underway!

Our International Feast was held at Portofino’s at

Orazio’s on October 25th. Thank you to Meena

Rustgi and Ann Rudin for making this another

successful event.

We are looking forward to our December Holiday

Luncheon and Poinsettia and Wreath Sale. Linda

Eaton and Phyllis Stasiowski are hosting the

luncheon. Mark your calendars for Friday,

December 4th, 11:30 a.m. at the Ramada Hotel

and Conference Center, 2402 North Forest Road,

Getzville. The reservation form for this event is

included in this newsletter, so make sure you send

yours in. Hopefully everyone has sent in their

orders for wreaths and poinsettias. I know the

cutoff date was earlier than usual but we had to

change vendors and the November 3rd deadline

was the latest we could send our orders in. Thank

you to Donna Kozinski for being the contact

person for the orders.

Also, mark your calendars for the Dinner & Wine

Pairing Event on Friday, February 5th, 6:30 p.m.

at the Ramada Hotel and Conference Center, 2402

North Forest Road, Getzville. We need basket

donations (gift certificates, artwork, bottles of

liquor/wine and new merchandise). A donation

letter is included in this newsletter. Please

contact Debra Berger (phone: 691-0279 or e-

mail: d-berger3@roadrunner.com) if you can

provide an item for the raffle. I know that Luella,

Pat and Debra have been hard at work preparing

for this great event.

For those members who work quietly behind the

scenes, thank you! We appreciate all that you do

and the UBWC could not exist without your

participation!

I would like to welcome all our new members

since our last newsletter! We look forward to

seeing you at our upcoming events.

Buffalo Federation of Women's Clubs: The Buffalo Federation of Women’s Clubs Annual Scholarship Tea will be held on Thursday, November 5, 2015 from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. at the Center for tomorrow. UBWC members are invited to attend. Cash and/or check (payable to BFWC) donations will be collected for Scholarships awarded to both Buffalo State and UB students. Craft Group:

The Craft Group meets the fourth Monday of the

month at a member’s home. We do crafts that are

seasonal or of interest to the members. Light

refreshments are served. The dues are $3 per year.

ANNUAL DINNER & WINE TASTING

Friday, February 5, 2016 at the Ramada Hotel

Plan to join us for a fabulous evening of Wine Tasting, Hors d’oeuvres, Full-Course Dinner with Wine Pairings and Raffle and Basket Auction. This Annual Dinner and Wine Tasting is our major fundraising event. In order for this to be successful, we need everyone’s help in collecting donations for our basket auction. PLEASE HELP! We welcome gift certificates from restaurants or for services, tickets, artwork, bottles of wine, food items; and new merchandise, such as beauty products, books, kitchen and home décor, etc. All donations are tax deductible. Please tell donors they will receive a receipt for tax purposes. A Donation Request Letter is included in this Newsletter. You may make copies or request more. Come start the holidays with us on Friday, December 4, 2015, at our Holiday Luncheon. At 11:00 AM you’ll be able to shop for D’Avolio oils and vinegars, jewelry, scarves, chocolate and soap from our several vendors. These vendors donate part of their proceeds to our Grace Capen Scholarship Fund. At noon our delicious luncheon will be served. Afterwards you will be able to pick up the poinsettias you ordered. Your support will add to our Grace Capen Scholarship Fund. The Reservation Form is on Page 9

POINSETTIA & WREATH SALE:

The Poinsettia and Wreath Sale is one of our fundraiser events held each year. The distribution of orders coincides with our annual Holiday Luncheon which will be at the Ramada Hotel on Friday, December 4th. We had to switch to a new vendor, Northtown Nursery on Sheridan Drive, this year. They are offering plant and wreath products of good quality. Their deadline for orders to be placed is about 3 weeks prior to what we have been used to. Please send in your orders as soon as possible to meet the November 3rd deadline. The order form appears in this Newsletter. Make copies and share with your friends.

Capen Academic Awards- The money raised from these activities fund academically gifted students from the

University.
