Work Environments A major in Women & Gender Studies provides an excellent foundation for law, management, journalism, education, or social work, as well as positions in non-profit and non-governmental organizations. Graduates may also find employment in community organizations/centres, universities or research institutions, religious organizations, mental health facilities, consulting firms, publishing houses, social services agencies, labour unions, media organizations, governmental organizations, public relations firms, welfare organizations or market research firms.

The Women & Gender Studies Program

at the University of Lethbridge Women & Gender Studies examines the historical and contemporary conditions of women in society using feminist theory and research methodologies to explore issues like gender and power. It provides students with an opportunity to broaden their knowledge of women and explores feminism as an important influence in political and social movements. Courses are presented from an interdisciplinary perspective with a foundation of feminist theory as the basis for critical analyses. The department draws on the University's vibrant community of scholars to deliver a curriculum that provides students with a broader understanding of how current and historical events, as well as ideas and institutions, have been structured by gender, ethnicity, race, age, ability, class, and sexuality. Students majoring in Women & Gender Studies can complete a Bachelor of Arts or a Bachelor of Arts and Science.
