WOLNY (Vul'-nee) Taught by JAN SEJDA "Slow Dance" - Polish dance for four couples from the Gieszyn Region. Time: 3/4 Starting position: Four couples in square formation. Part A (slow): Head and side couples do their parts simultaneously. Head couples' part: Meas. 1-2 Head couples exchange places (facing each other while crossing) in 6 light walking steps, man "pullsu girl. She is being "hard to get." Meas. 3-4 Couples turn in new positions toface center, girl takes long turn ( CCvJ) .. Side couples' part: Part B Meas. 1-2 Side couples do action of Meas. 3 and 4. Meas. 3-4 Side couples do action of Meas. 1 and 2. Meas. 5-8 Repeat measures 1-4 to original positions. Start from original positions. Meas. 9-12 Girls turn left 12 running steps, body erect, hands on hips, fingers forward. Boys' part, done simultaneously: Meas. 9 Starting with left foot, men run three steps to center, hands on hips. Meas. 10 They jump on forvtard part of foot, knees bent, and turning 1/4 R, extending arms to side, left hands meeting in center forming a cross. Meas. 11 vJith arms as in Meas. 10 and starting left foot, men take three running steps to new partner (i.e., the girl to right of original partner.) Meas. 12 Jump on forward part of foot, knees bent, hands on hips. Meas. 13 ... 16 Right elbow hook and 12 running steps, knees bent, bodies forward as if "chasing" each other. Free arm dangles naturally at side. Repeat measures 9-16 three times, ending with original partner. Repeat entire dance as often as desired.
