Principal’s Report
BER Update Administration isn’t quite complete yet but the ladies are happy to be out of the Cubby and in their new office. The official handover for the K-2 toilets will happen this afternoon, which should mean that all students will be able to start using them from Monday. The 3-6 toilets will then be out of action for the rest of the year while they are being refurbished.
1C and 1/2K will start to move back into their rooms next Tuesday. A day or two later 2/3S will move into the Library and 3/4M will move into the Music Room. The Blue Building is now being refurbished so there will be no more Technology Lessons in the Lab for a while and After School Care is now operating from the Cubby. Exciting news for us all, is that the Kindergarten Interactive Whiteboards are being installed on Tuesday. Thank you for being so flexible and understanding during our BER program.
Fundraiser
Our Crazy Day fundraiser for Shane McBurney raised
$556.55!! We are all really impressed and very appreciative
of the high level of support shown by our school community
for Shane and his family. Well done everyone. Shane will
be on Prime News on Friday night (12 November).

be added, we will update it each week.
Kindergarten Orientation
Kindergarten 2011 Orientation continues this week and everyone will be matched up with
their buddy for the next year. Its important that the children attend the next 3 sessions

Annual School Presentation Ceremony
Dear Parents,
Each year we seek parental support by way of donations towards our Presentation Ceremony. There are five
awards given to each class – General Achievement, Co-operative Class Member and Most Improved, plus two
special awards.
We appreciate any donations from families or individuals ($20 per award).
If you are able to make a donation towards our Presentation Ceremony we would appreciate receiving them by
Friday 3 December. The school will allocate the donations to particular awards unless there is a special request
from the donor. All donors will be acknowledged at the Presentation Ceremony to be held on Friday 10 December.
We very much appreciate the support that is always given to celebrating our children’s achievements.
Yours sincerely, Jennifer Thomas Principal

Creative Arts Progam for Students K-6
I will be away on leave for the next fortnight. Whilst I am away the Computer Lab (my
classroom) will be dismantled for refurbishment, meaning Technology lessons will be on hold.
This year we have had an increased focus on Creative Arts, as identified in our planning. On my return, the whole
school will be doing some activities on dyeing. Each child will need to bring in a cotton tshirt to dye.
The shirts do not need to be new, but will need to be washed (especially new ones). Whilst a plain white shirt is
best, very pale colours will be OK. A white tshirt that has a stain on it is fine, as we will cover the stain with colour.
Yours Sincerely,
Ben Barker
Assistant Principal
Who? All students K-6
What is needed? A washed, white cotton tshirt, new or old (or a very pale colour
When? Please label the tshirt and send to your class teacher by Friday 26/11/10.
Dear Parents/Caregivers,
Musica Viva along with Sounds Baroque is coming to Wollongbar!
Sounds Baroque is a group of four musicians; soprano, baritone, harpsichordist and viola de
gambist. Each member is an outstanding musician in their field and all have performed with the major
performing arts companies in the country.
Sounds Baroque have successfully adapted Shakespeare’s story of The Tempest to create the students’
opera Prospero’s Island. This performance combines music and instruments from 300 years ago with
language and humour of today.
Leading up to the live performance our students will be learning the songs and various music
accompaniments that are performed in the concert. This is an opportunity not to be missed.
When: Thursday 18th November (Whole school performance from 11.50am).
Cost: $4.00 per student
Please complete and return the form below to the office.
Thanks,
Natalie Hamlyn
