which includes:

THANK YOU

Bracknell Forest Mayor’s Charity of the Year 2018-19

The money raised by the Mayor during the year will go towards the running costs for the Gateway project.

If you would like to help raise funds for this great project you can donate your unwanted clothes to one of the clothes banks which are located in car parks around the Bracknell Forest Borough, where it states that the proceeds go to

the Mayor’s Charity. Proceeds from these will be donated to our charity.

We are also looking for brave volunteers to take part in a sponsored skydive for the charity or for runners and non-runners to sign up for The Lexicon

Bracknell Half-Marathon which will take place on 12th May 2019. Registration is now open. Go to: https://www.everyoneactive.com/news/the-lexicon-

bracknell-half-marathon/

Or you could think of your own sponsored challenge! If you are interested, or have an idea for a sponsored event, please let us know at the office and we

can work with you to make this happen.

Bottle Tops Thank you to everyone who collected milk bottle tops for us. With your help we collected over 500kg, but were surprised when we only received a cheque for £36.36 for all our efforts. We are no longer the nominated charity for this and so will no longer be collecting the tops so please do find another use for them.

DISABILITY AND THE WORKPLACE

Disabled people continue to face severe barriers to participation and equality across society: unions can help to challenge these by tackling

discrimination at work, by negotiating good policy and ensuring that

employers adopt a positive approach to the employment of disabled people.

The TUC have published a comprehensive guide called Disability

and the Workplace which offers a guide to the relevant laws.

It’s worthwhile claiming what you are entitled to.

Winter Fuel Payment - a tax-free benefit of up to £300 to pay for heating. People born on or before 5 May 1953 will qualify this year.
