wMUsers History

• Founded by Dan Green in 2001 as an independent community of

webMethods professionals working together to use webMethods

products successfully for their employers and clients

• Quickly gained recognition as the best place to find webMethods

experts willing to rapidly respond to questions from other

experienced users as well as those learning webMethods products

for the first time

• Ownership of the community transferred to Mark Carlson in 2005

with around 5,000 members and 21,000 posts

• Migrated to vBulletin forum software in 2005 to support rapid

growth in members and posts

• Today, wMUsers has more than 22,000 registered members and

85,000 posts in its discussion forums

Why the merger makes sense?

• Software AG’s TECHcommunity forums did not exist when wMUsers was

founded. Now there’s a great place to go for technical discussions for all

the products

• wMUsers emphasized Integration Server and Broker products, but not

much on newer products in the suite

• wMUsers content has primarily been its forum posts and code samples.

TECHcommunity also provides content in the form of newsletters,

product news and a wiki

• Many wMUsers members already use the TECHcommunity forums. The

merger provides a single place to go for both the great wMUsers content

from past years as well as information on newly released products

• wMUsers has always been administered by a single person.

TECHcommunity forums are supported by a dedicated team.

• Mark’s new project assignments have taken him away from daily focus on

webMethods products and techniques, so it’s time to pass the baton to a

new team that lives and breathes the webMethods products every day
