REFLECTION 1:FLOOD FORECASTING SYSTEM IN

BENGAWAN SOLO RIVER BASINUSING IFAS (Integrated Flood Analysis System)

• Background : A lot of area in Bengawan Solo river basin are inundated by flood in the rainyseason, one o t e most vu nera e area s o onegoro str ct, ocate n ast ava

• IFAS in Bengawan Solo : IFAS is needed to improve flood forecasting and warning in theengawan o o r ver as n.

• Problems of IFAS implementation in Bengawan Solo:

REFLECTION 2: CAPACITY BUILDING ON LOCAL

• Background : People living at the inundation area need some assistances in facingt e oo mpacts.

• Activities :Evacuation Drill was conducted in two villages in Bojonegoro district byADB through ICHARM in July 2011.

• The facts about the Ca acit Buildin related to flood risk mana ement in

Bengawan Solo (based on interview and observation with local residence in October2011):

1. Local community is still need assistance at every level;

2. Especially at level 0 (normal), mentoring is not just a matter of flooding but alsoa matters of economic improvement;

3. The sustainable concept of flood mentoring 3E:, , . ,

economic improvement?

• Innovation : BBWS-BS is planning to do some replication of the training in the otherareas by adopting the local value and improving methodology in this November and

also in the next few year .
