    This document describes Wireless LAN Planning and DesignService.

    Related Documents: This document should be read inconjunction with the following documents also posted atwww.cisco.com/go/servicedescriptions/ : (1) Glossary ofTerms; (2) List of Services Not Covered; and (3) Severity andEscalation Guidelines. All capitalized terms in this descriptionhave the meaning ascribed to them in the Glossary of Terms.

The contract, if any, governing theprovision of this Service will be the one between you and yourCisco Authorized Reseller.     Cisco shall provide the Wireless LAN Planning and DesignService described below as selected and detailed on thePurchase Order for which Cisco has been paid the appropriatefee. Cisco shall provide a Quote for Services (Quote) settingout the extent of the Services and duration that Cisco shallprovide such Services. Cisco shall receive a Purchase Orderthat references the Quote agreed between the parties and that,additionally, acknowledges and agrees to the terms containedtherein.

    Service Summary

    Wireless LAN Planning and Design Service provides Design,Planning, Architecture and Assessment services in support of

    Wireless LAN and Mobility Services solutions: AdaptiveWireless IPS, Context Aware, Voice over Wireless LAN, andGuest Access.

    Wireless LAN Planning and Design Service

    Under this Service, Cisco shall provide the Wireless LANPlanning and Design Service during Standard Business Hours,unless stated:

    Wireless LAN Project Management

    Provide a single point of contact ("Cisco Project Manager"as well as a designated backup for all issues relating tothe Wireless LAN (WLAN) Planning and Design Servicesselected by Customer under this Service Description. TheCisco Project Manager responsibilities typically includeamongst other things, the following:

    o Initiate the project by conducting kickoff meetingsdefining project scope, work breakdown structure andidentifying risk and mitigation plan.

    o Define and execute change management processwhich includes informing customer of risks andnegotiating changes to the schedule and the budgebased upon the agreed upon changes.

    o Maintain project plan and risk management andchange management processes.

    o Manage project cost and resource budget.o Provide periodic project progress report throughou

    the performance of Service.

    o Provide Customer satisfaction surveys to Customer.

    Wireless LAN High-Level Architectural Design

    Customer Requirements Document (CRDDevelopment.

    Collaborate with the Customer to remotely collect anddocument Customers communicated businessrequirements to be used by the high level networkdesign. The Customer requirements may include:

    o Wireless features and functionality arerequired to meet business objective.

    o Review and analyze the existing Networkarchitecture for performance, trafficanalysis, Hardware and Software versioningsecurity and WLAN/legacy Networkintegration.

    Provide Customer Requirements Document (CRDthat contains Customer requirements, collected data

    information, observations, and the results of the highlevel analysis.

    Collaborate with Customer during their high levelNetwork detailed design process. Cisco will assist theCustomer to address the following issues as part ofthe collaboration:

    o Defining the high-level Network architectureand topology.

    o Integration and aggregation points for theWLAN deployment including protocols,security and NMS considerations.

    o WLAN application environment, bandwidthrequirements, quality-of-service (QoS) andclass of service discussions, guidelines fortesting the types of WLAN, configurationrecommendations.

    o WLAN radio frequency (RF) deploymentscenarios, recommend best practices for: RF

    footprints types of WLAN, configurationrecommendations, frequency plans, powerand environmental factors.

    Assist the Customer in the creation of its high levelNetwork design.

    Wireless LAN RF Assessment

    Collaborate with the Customer to coordinate andperform an onsite site survey that captures the sitedetails including physical, environmentalconsiderations, electrical AC/DC supplies, cabling,Network synchronization, peripheral equipment andremote access. The Customer requirements may

    include:

    Perform critical radio frequency survey to determinethe optimal access point placement.

    Analyze the information obtained from the site surveyand develop recommendations for site modificationand improvements.

    Provide a site survey report detailing the results of thesite survey, radio frequency assessment,environmental requirements and optimized placementof wireless access point.

    Wireless LAN Low Level Detailed Network Design

    Collaborate with Customer during their low levelNetwork detailed design process. Cisco will assistCustomer to address the following as part of thecollaboration:

    o Examine and evaluate Customer networkdocumentation, and existing network designs.

    o Verify that the chosen platforms, features, andfunctionality will meet the Customecommunicated design objectives.

    o Perform design activities including bandwidthmodeling, capacity planning, WAN analysisarchitecture review, addressing and routingstrategy, scalability and redundancy

    assessment, and security assessment.

    o Assist the Customer in the creation of its lowlevel Network design.

    Wireless LAN Controller Design Planning

    Collaborate with Customer during WLAN controlledesign process. Cisco may assist Customer toaddress the following as part of the collaboration:

    o Provide on-site support for Cisco wireless LANcontroller network level design support andrecommend wireless LAN controller and accesspoint software release.

    o Recommend access point assignment to therequired wireless LAN controller according to thedesign.

    o Recommend security policy configurationsincluding IEEE 802.1x (or VPN) authentication tothe RADIUS server and external database.

    o Recommend radio management settingsincluding RF interference detection, transmipower, and channel selection.

    o Recommend security monitoring settingincluding rogue AP detection, and intrusiondetection.

    o Recommend policy provisioning fault settingso Provide support for the test and turn-up o

    wireless LAN controllers and access points

    o Provide Cisco Wireless LAN Controller DesignTemplate

    Wireless LAN Control System (WCS) Design Planning

    Collaborate with Customer during WLAN ControSystem (WCS) design process. Cisco may assis

    Customer to address the following as part of thecollaboration:

    o Provide on-site support for Cisco WLANControl System (WCS) design activities andrecommend software release.

    o Recommend settings for wireless LANcontrollers in the WCS based on the design.

    o Recommend settings for up to 50 accesspoints in the WCS.

    o Recommend settings for WCS scheduledtasks, user accounts, and logging to matchCisco leading practice recommendationsand the Customer environment.

    o Provide a review for Customer operationsstaff (or provide up to two hours ofknowledge transfer), how to use the keyfeatures of WCS and WLAN management.

    o Provide Cisco WCS Design Checklist.Wireless LAN Mobility Services Engine (MSE) DesignPlanning

    Collaborate with Customer during WLAN MobilityServices Engine design process. Cisco may assistCustomer to address the following as part of thecollaboration:

    o Provide on-site support for Cisco MobilityServices Engine network level designsupport.

    o Gather information on existing WLANinfrastructure and validate all designprerequisites.

    o Recommend software releases for theWCS, wireless LAN controllers and accesspoints.

    o Recommend the recommend MSE softwarerelease.

    o Provide Cisco Mobility Services DesignTemplate.

    Wireless LAN Context Aware Design Planning

    Collaborate with Customer during the WLAN ContextAware design process. Cisco may assist Customer toaddress the following as part of the collaboration:

    o Recommend settings for one Mobility ServicesEngine for Context Aware location including:

    oProvide guidelines for importing Mobility ServicesEngine into WCS

    o Provide recommendations based on the designfor device tracking

    o Recommend polling intervals to optimize MSEand network resources

    o Recommend basic and advanced server historyparameters.

    o Support the test and turn-up of the MobilityServices Engine.

    o Recommend MSE maintenance tasks.

    o Provide a WLAN specialist for on-site MobilityServices Engine calibration support.

    o Recommend settings for calibration to attempt toimprove location accuracy.

    o Recommend location of additional access pointsto improve location accuracy performance.

    o Assist in a demonstration to Customer operationsstaff (or provide up to one hour of a workshoptype knowledge transfer), on how to use the keyfeatures of Context Aware location and perform

    calibration.

    o Provide Cisco Context Aware Design Template.

    Wireless LAN Adaptive wIPS Design Planning

    Collaborate with Customer during the WLANAdaptive wIPS design process. Cisco may assisCustomer to address the following as part of thecollaboration:

    o Recommend software releases for the WirelessControl System (WCS), wireless LAN controllersand access points for support of Mobility Services

    Engine (MSE) and wIPS services.

    o Recommend settings for one Mobility ServicesEngine for Adaptive wIPS including:

    Provide guidelines for importing MobilityServices Engine into WCS

    Provide recommendations for wIPS servicesynchronization and activation with WirelessLAN controllers

    Recommend polling intervals to optimizeMSE and network resources

    Recommend basic and advanced servehistory parameters.

    Support the test and turn-up of the MobilityServices Engine.

    Recommend MSE maintenance tasks.

    o Recommend locations and configurations fordesignated access points for wIPS-optimizedmonitor mode

    o Recommend wIPS profile definition for adaptiveintrusion prevention and policy rules.

    o Assist in a demonstration to Customer operationsstaff (or provide up to one hour of a workshoptype knowledge transfer) on; how to use CiscoWCS to manage and monitor profiles and alarmsgenerated by the wIPS, capture attack forensicsvia wIPS-optimized access points for additionalanalysis, use advanced reporting options via thirdparty tools.

    o Provide the Cisco Adaptive wIPS DesignChecklist.

    Wireless LAN Guest Access Design Planning

    Collaborate with Customer during the WLAN GuestAccess design process. Cisco may assist Customerto address the following as part of the collaboration:

    o Provide detailed design assistance for an overallWLAN guest access solution

    o Participate in Guest Access design planningincluding; anchor WLAN controller to enabletunneling of guest traffic between local WLANcontroller(s) and the anchor controller gateway,tunneling of guest traffic to DMZ/public internet,rate limiting and/or IP services management.

    o Recommend settings for the WLAN controller(s)to enable a Guest SSID on Wireless Access

    Points.

    o Participate in the design of the GuestRegistration (internal employee portal) planningincluding gathering information on employee(guest sponsor), or guest.

    o Recommend Guest Authentication & AccountingPlanning, including Generating, distributing,expiring, and tracking guest accounts / accesscodes.

    o Provide guidelines for design of the Welcomepage with company logo, message, & terms ofuse.

    o Provide guidelines for development of processesfor supporting guest requests for technicalsupport.

    o Provide Cisco Wireless Guest Access DesignTemplate

    If the design includes a NAC Guest Server:

    o Design support for one centralized one GuesAccess Gateway (WLC or NAC), a registrationportal, and pilot guest user sites(guest hotspots)

    o Recommend settings to allow the NAC GuestServer to communicate with an existing WLANcontroller or an existing NAC Manager.

    o Recommendations for customization of the NACGuest Server guest registration portal to allow anauthorized internal user to register a guest userincluding authentication against an employeedirectory.

    o Participate in the design of the user welcomepage of the guest access gateway (WLC or NACincluding logo and acceptable use policy.

    Wireless LAN Voice Design Planning

    Collaborate with Customer during Voice over WLANdesign process. Cisco may assist Customer toaddress the following as part of the collaboration:

    o Provide on-site support for Cisco Voice oveWLAN design support and recommend wirelessLAN controller and access point softwarerelease.

    o Recommend settings for WLAN to maximizewireless handset performance on the existing IPtelephony network infrastructure (i.e.CallManager, QoS, etc.) according to the design.

    o Recommend radio management settingsincluding RF interference detection, transmipower, and channel selection.

    o Provide support for the test and provisioning ofwireless handsets.

    o Provide Cisco Wireless LAN Voice DesignChecklist

    Wireless LAN Video Design Planning

    Collaborate with Customer during Video over WLANdesign process. Cisco may assist Customer toaddress the following as part of the collaboration:

    o Provide on-site support for Cisco Video oveWLAN design support and recommend wirelessLAN controller and access point softwarerelease.

    o Recommend radio management settingsincluding RF interference detection, transmitpower, and channel selection.

    o Provide support for the test and provisioning ofplanned camera types, frame rates and videoCODECs.

    o Provide Cisco Wireless LAN Video DesignChecklist

    Wireless LAN Network Design Validation

    Collaborate with Customer to validate theperformance and coverage of the WLAN and validateagainst the documented WLAN design. Cisco may

    assist Customer to address the following as part ofthe collaboration:

    o Perform a WLAN Performance Analysis,including using appropriate WLAN collection andanalysis tools to capture utilization and trafficpatterns.

    o Perform an RF Coverage Analysis includesreview of the site survey results, AP locations,antenna types, frequency plan, power levelsversus the documented design.

    o Perform an Interference Analysis includingmeasurement of internal and external

    interference sources present at the time of theanalysis.

    o Evaluate overall WLAN network performance,including (if required) readiness to support KeyApplications specified in the architectural design.

    o Review of WLAN device configuration(s)o Provide a WLAN Network Verification Document

    which includes analysis and recommendations toalign the current state of the network including;RF coverage, RF interference, WLAN utilizationand traffic patterns and wireless deviceconfiguration to the documented design.

    Wireless LAN Network Assessment

    Work with Customer to understand their Wireless LANnetwork environment and to qualify Ciscosunderstanding of their requirements for this project.

    Conduct one (1) project kickoff conference call todiscuss the Wireless Local Area Network (LANNetwork Assessment goals, process, andrequirements.

    Provide Wireless LAN Network Assessmenquestionnaire to be completed by Customer, and/o

    conduct interviews with Customer, as appropriate.

    Collect technical documentation, network diagramstopologies, and network device configurations fromCustomer.

    Collect information from the existing wireless LANinfrastructure using Cisco wireless LAN networkassessment tools and techniques.

    Perform a remote Wireless LAN Network Assessmento include assessment of the architecture, operationastatus, and security of the existing wirelessinfrastructure focusing on the following areas:

    o review wireless infrastructure deviceconfigurations based on Cisco leadingpractice recommendations;

    o analyze the security vulnerabilities of thewireless LAN infrastructure;

    o identify potential radio frequency (RF)coverage, interference or contention issuesbased on information collected from theCisco WLAN Controllers;

    o assess the Cisco Wireless LAN Controlledeployment for redundancy.

    Develop and provide a Wireless LAN NetworkAssessment Report to include, amongst other thingsan executive summary, assessment findingscomparison of the Customers wireless networkdesign and configuration against industry and Ciscoleading practices, recommendations for networkdesign and configuration changes, as applicable.

    Review with Customer the Wireless LAN NetworkAssessment Report for comment and approval beforeit is formally completed and released.

    Remotely present the executive summary of theWireless LAN Network Assessment Report (including

    the analysis and recommendations) to the Customekey stakeholders and project sponsor.

    Wireless LAN Performance Analysis

    This performance analysis is an option to the WLANNetwork Assessment Service if in-depth performancetroubleshooting and analysis on a specified portion owireless LAN network is desired.

    Cisco may assist Customer to address the followingas part of the collaboration:

    o Assess the existing network architecturedocumentation and analyze the readinessof existing network architecture andinfrastructure in order to support the

    migration to a CUWN-based wirelessarchitecture and network services byreviewing the following documentation:

    Customers documented high levelwireless network designdocumentation;

    Customers migrationimplementation plan.

    o Review the network design document andthe migration implementation plan, performa verification of Customers migrationimplementation procedure(s) for CUWN onsite at one Customer location in a non-production environment which may include

    the following tasks: Review design configuration of up

    to one controller for the non-production network.

    Recommend the process formigrating up to ten (10) AccessPoints to CUWN in the non-production environment.

    Assess controller configuration andnew AP image.

    Assess client security configurationwith controller based architecture.

    Collaborate with Customer toassess no more than three (3) keyapplications on the CUWN wireless

    network architecture.

    o Recommend CUWN migration plans steps,processes and tasks and document therecommended Access Point migrationprocedure and the Access Point verificationprocedure (if any).

    o Provide Cisco Wireless LAN Migration PlanDocument

    Wireless LAN Outdoor Detail Design Planning

    Collaborate with Customer to plan a single sitedesign template for the key networking infrastructuredevices. Cisco may assist Customer to address thefollowing as part of the collaboration:

    o Provide wireless detailed design assistanceby working with Customer staff to develop

    detailed plan. Design elements to beconsidered include;

    Security infrastructure. IP Addressing scheme Switching & routing infrastructure Wired and wireless backhaul

    design. Network management infrastructure Provide software image

    recommendations

    o Provide Cisco Wireless LAN OutdooDetailed Design Document.

    Wireless LAN Outdoor Site Design Planning

    Collaborate with the customer to assess the availablewireless node sites, provide a predictive coveragemodel utilizing designated sites, and specify adetailed site design template for 1 site. Cisco mayassist Customer to address the following as part o

    the collaboration:

    o Onsite assessment of available wirelessnode site

    o Assess a detailed predictive coveragemodel with wireless nodes deployedaccording to available sites.

    o Recommend areas where additional sitesare required to achieve coverage goals;.

    o Recommend for 1 site a design for physicalocations of wireless Access Points, AP

    power / channel settings (if required),o antenna type, location and orientation and

    identify any special mounting or cablingrequirements.

    o Provide Cisco Wireless LAN OutdooDetailed Design Document.

    Wireless LAN Outdoor Design Verification Audit

    Collaborate with the customer to assess theperformance and coverage of the wireless network

    for one site. Cisco may assist Customer to addressthe following as part of the collaboration:

    o Perform a survey of the RF environment forcoverage, interference and generaperformance and network configurationusing appropriate WLAN data collection andanalysis tools to determine;

    Interference Analysis (measureinternal/external interference at onemoment in time)

    Evaluation/review of overall WLANnetwork capacity

    o Perform an audit of the prediction coverageanalysis process and customer accesspoints against the documented design.

    o Provide Cisco Wireless LAN OutdoorDesign Verification Audit Results andFindings presentation with up to two (2)hours of remote or onsite knowledgetransfer.

    Service Responsibilities of Customer

    Customer shall comply with the following obligations:

    Provide a Network topology map, configurationinformation, and information of new features beingimplemented as needed.

    Retain overall responsibility for any business processimpact and any process change implementations

    Ensure key Customer networking and operationalpersonnel are available to participate in interviewsessions as required.

    Unless otherwise agreed to by the parties, Customershall respond within two (2) business days of Ciscosrequest for documentation or information needed forthe Service.

    Customer acknowledges that Ciscos obligation is toonly provide assistance to Customer with respect tothe tasks detailed and that such assistance may notresult in some or all of the tasks being completed.

    A list of all of the WLAN networking componentsincluding but not limited to Hardware, Software andsolution configurations;

    A high-level architectural drawing showing the type ofHardware, Software, and application solutionsconfigurations and where they are physically located(for example, geographical location or location withinthe Network);

    Detailed definitions of the type of application (forexample mobile traveler, corporate workforce orverticals) and features; detailed definition ofCustomers implementation strategy and schedule;

    Copies of Network implementation plan and productconfiguration templates.

    Customer is responsible for managing any internachange management procedures, providing access tonetwork devices, and providing qualified engineers toperform any configuration changes to productionnetwork devices, LAN switches, routers, and otherwired infrastructure components.)

    Provide physical access to facilities, remote networkaccess (e.g., via IPSec VPN), relevant networkdocumentation and device configurations.

    Provide the wireless LAN controller hardware andsoftware, rack, power, and physically install WLANcontroller hardware.

    Ensure that the access points are properly installedon the network with access to the controllers.

    Provide information on the required authenticationsecurity, QoS, mobility, optimization, fault andconfiguration provisioning policies to be applied to

    each wireless LAN controller and access point.

    For Voice Design, the Customer must provide detaiinformation that the existing IP telephony networkinfrastructure (i.e., CallManager, QoS, etc.) consistenwith Cisco IP Telephony design recommendationsand document any pre-existing performance ostability problems in the existing wired IP telephonynetwork that may adversely impact the Voice oveWLAN deployment.

    For Assessment services, provide the following; acompleted Cisco WLAN Network Assessmenquestionnaire following project kickoff, curren

    technical document including network diagrams anddevice configurations, remote network access toareas within the scope of the service, designspecifications including relevant site survey reportsand device inventory information for all access pointswireless LAN controllers, LAN switches, accesscontrol services, and network management systemsand WLAN technology requirements for standards(i.e. 802.11a/b/g/n), tools, mobility services, capacityrequirements, performance requirementsaccessibility/reliability requirements, and infrastructuremanagement. For the WLAN Performance Analysisservice option, Customer will provide onsite, physicaaccess to facilities for areas within the scope of theService.

    Provide a knowledgeable engineer to work with theCisco Advanced Services on making anyconfiguration changes to the Customer network.
